Battlefall: State of Conflict - Where the Wasteland is Your Battlefield!
What's new
Patch 0.4.0 has landed! - Try your best at our new mini-campaign with new maps and additional gamemodes.
Embark on a thrilling journey where the armies of a shattered world clash for survival in an epic struggle for strategic dominance.
Battlefall: State of Conflict is a high-octane real-time strategy (RTS) game that catapults you into a post-apocalyptic ruin in which the battle thunder of three distinct factions - 'Earth Forces Network,' 'Scrappers,' and the 'SEL' - rolls across the globe.
Build your base, train your forces, evolve your strategies with unrivaled freedom and no pop-limits. Your fortifications are only as efficient as your imagination allows it to be. How you complete your objectives is entirely up to you: gather resources and amass your armies to steam-roll the enemy, or formulate and engage an alternate approach-- with Battlefall Upgrades, Base Expansion units, and Unit Veterancy at your disposal no two battles are ever the same!
Battlefall Upgrade System:
Battlefall: State of Conflict’s unique take on the RTS genre offers players limitless freedom in customizing their forces on the fly via the Battlefall Upgrade. Players will have to spend these rare rewards, earned in the crucible of battle, to explore various strategies to overcome their enemies. With endless possibilities for tactical approaches, and no building or population limits, every battle is a unique experience.
The Last Stand of Humanity - EFNET:
Recovering from the global devastation unleashed by SEL, the last bastion of human civilization lies in the hands of Earth Forces Network (EFNET). Armed with the modified remnants of modern military technology, they stand against the chaotic forces threatening to rob them of their future and smother the world in eternal darkness.
Take command of the disciplined and determined forces of EFNET, strategizing to reclaim the wastelands and restore peace and dmocracy to a ruined world.
The Anarchic Horde - The Scrappers:
Fuelled by the madness induced by post-apocalyptic radiation, starvation, and mutation the Scrappers are a relentless faction of waste-roaming anarchists who thrive on chaos. Their savage caravans repurpose, scrap and salvage everything in their path to craft makeshift war machines and weapons--including their slain enemies. Crude, cruel, and homicidal.
Brace yourself for unrelenting battles against this savage horde from a dystopian realm that will test your strategic mettle.
Rise of the Machines - SEL:
A ruthless evolution of a humble automation suite which once promised humanity freedom from the dreary tasks of daily life, unlimited economic growth, and appliances that play holiday-appropriate jingles from a tiny speaker. Slow to expand in numbers but armed with mind-bending technology, Synthetic Enhanced Lifeforms dominate the battlefield with inhuman precision and efficiency.
Lead the SEL forces into battle where computer intelligence attempts to delete the messy irrationality of the human spirit.
Three Factions, Three Tales:
Immerse yourself in the rich narrative of three distinct story-driven campaigns, each unveiling the struggles, sacrifices, and aspirations of one of the factions as it navigates the complexities of a world grappling with its own demise.
Varied Gameplay Modes:
Battlefall: State of Conflict offers a plethora of gameplay modes to keep you engaged. Dive into offline and online skirmish modes, team up with friends in co-op campaigns, or unleash your creativity with the built-in level editor and 'rule editor.' Unfortunately, at the time of review, this game is just not good enough for 20 bux. Even at -50%, I'd hesitate. It tries to be something of a Tiberian Sun, with UX equal to, or lower, than C&C 1. Let me give a few examples:

There are deployable units (like artillery). However, if you deploy units, you lose both their selection and their control group. If you undeploy them, you don't get them back in the control group. C&C 1 didn't have deployable artillery - just slow and vulnerable units. When TibSun introduced (re)deployable units, it also improved the UX, so that unit assignments persisted through deployment.
There is no way to add units to control groups. You just need to select all the units and redefine the control group.
The pathfinding is very bad, with absolutely no magic boxing - it feels like a pure A*, with units being able to block each other's pathfinding, and run off across the map (into the enemy base). Two selections of Goliaths are easier to control.
Infantry units occupy 1 square each. This makes them far less powerful than in C&C, where 5 infantry units could crowd in single square. It's very hard to move infantry through infantry, or vehicles through infantry groups.
The graphics are just placeholder quality. Yes, the lights are nice (TibSun level), but the sprites are not.
The unit design itself is very strange. For instance, there is an unit that has a huge range, and sends guided bombs as gliding parachutes. When they impact, the area of explosion is tremendous. I tried to shoot down the projectiles with AA, but my AA didn't shoot at them. So, my only choice was to bait the guided projectiles - but that was almost impossible in itself, due to the high rate of fire of the artillery unit and the huge explosion area of the projectiles.
Very subjectively: I'm left feeling that the game design is off. It feels just like ... nostalgia without the game design process to bring it together into something that works well.
In conclusion, even for Early Access, this is too rudimentary. The game videos look far better than the game feels and controls. It's very far from the asking price right now. For $20, there's better options out there. Or you could replay Yuri's Revenge for the 15th time, and enjoy that.
Been in early access for almost a year without updating with its roadmap, it's a ripoff of Command And Conquer made by devs who love stealing players' money and then abandoning their projects.
I played a bit past the tutorial and it is sweet. It has some nice innovations, feels good honestly. Units have the right amount of survivability. Would like to see save game added and also an option to increase ui/text size. I am looking forward to this.
It's not quite there. But I'm gonna stick with it and see where we end up on the 1.0 release because it shows a lot of promise. Manor Lords has come a long way during its early access period and I believe these devs could do the same here. It's about time someone tried to fill the gap in the market that was left when EA killed command and conquer!
Taking the old and making it better. Cant wait to see where this goes in the future. Everybody needs to get this game!
I've played some of the campaign and a fair few skirmish maps so far and the game is solid. It does play a lot like Red Alert 2 mixed with Tiberium Sun, both great games. The AI is competent and can completely destroy you depending on difficulty, but it feels well balanced i've only been playing on easy so far and it is a gentle learning curve to get into the game. i do feel like the devs should release some sort of short demo campaign or something, the youtube reviews are not doing you any favours and lots of people are seeing a much uglier version of the game. it looks much nicer when you actually play it, although i do think the visuals could use a little more polish, mainly the 2d models. but whats here is great for the price point.
Это не игра, это говно. Не стоит и двух долларов. Это очень сырая предрелизаня версия генералов 1998 года в 2д, где нельзя сменить разрешение
Not a bad game for the early stages of development, would love to see more advanced controls be added such as "attack move" "waypoint" "patrol", sometimes on the higher difficulties seems like occasionally they throw stuff at you which you cant defend against such as mission 2 i got hit with 12 tanks before i could even get the vehicle pad online, this happened a few times in a row
