Shirone: the Dragon Girl
Good and cute game! 7/10
ADORABLE Great visual design Good sound Easy puzzles but flow and control responsiveness and just the feel is superb 60 fps lock :'( Adorable chillzzler
anyone who knows me should not be surprised i liked this game shirone is cute and the puzzles arent that bad the dragon girl was the main thing that made me pick it up and i dont regret it
Short and simple puzzle platformer. Mild jank and a throwaway story make it hard to recommend to anyone that doesn't just enjoy some easy puzzles.
Shirone: the Dragon Girl is a compact yet thoughtfully designed 3D adventure that blends light platforming with environmental puzzle solving, wrapped in a charming anime-inspired presentation. Developed by Oimoland and published by Flyhigh Works, the game places players in control of Shirone, a young dragon girl who awakens inside a mysterious, haunted castle with no clear explanation of how she arrived there. What follows is a gentle but engaging journey focused on curiosity, spatial reasoning, and gradual discovery rather than fast-paced action or heavy narrative exposition. The core of the experience revolves around puzzle-driven exploration. Each area of the castle is structured as a self-contained challenge that asks players to carefully observe their surroundings and figure out how to navigate obstacles using Shirone’s abilities. Her wings allow for controlled jumps and midair movement, while her tail can interact with switches, levers, and objects embedded in the environment. These abilities are introduced naturally and then expanded upon through increasingly clever level design, encouraging players to think about space, timing, and positioning rather than reflex-heavy execution. The puzzles are consistently logical, rarely feeling unfair or overly obscure, which makes progression satisfying and steady. The castle itself serves as more than just a backdrop. Its rooms, corridors, and hidden corners are designed to feel interconnected, fostering a sense of place as players move deeper into the structure. Visual variety comes from subtle shifts in atmosphere, architecture, and environmental details rather than drastic changes in setting, reinforcing the feeling that this is one cohesive location with its own strange rules. Along the way, players encounter unusual creatures and hints of a larger mystery, which add flavor and intrigue without pulling focus away from the gameplay. The narrative is intentionally understated, allowing players to infer details through context and exploration rather than explicit storytelling. One of the game’s strongest qualities is its pacing. Shirone: the Dragon Girl maintains a relaxed rhythm that makes it easy to play in short sessions or longer sittings without fatigue. New mechanics and puzzle variations are introduced at a measured pace, preventing repetition while avoiding sudden difficulty spikes. This balance makes the game approachable for players new to puzzle adventures while still offering enough complexity to keep experienced players engaged. The absence of combat-heavy systems further reinforces the game’s calm, contemplative tone. Visually, the game leans into a clean, colorful 3D style that emphasizes character expressiveness and clarity. Shirone herself is animated with care, and her movements feel responsive and intuitive, which is especially important in a game built around precise positioning and navigation. The environments are not overly detailed, but they are thoughtfully composed, ensuring that important visual cues stand out and puzzles remain readable. The presentation supports the gameplay rather than distracting from it, which contributes to the overall sense of polish. Additional collectible elements provide optional goals for players who enjoy completionist challenges. Hidden items scattered throughout the castle reward thorough exploration and can unlock cosmetic customization options for Shirone, adding a light layer of personalization. These collectibles are never required to progress, but they offer incentives to revisit earlier areas and experiment with movement mechanics more creatively. Achievements further reinforce this by encouraging players to fully engage with the game’s systems and secrets. In terms of length, Shirone: the Dragon Girl is a relatively short experience, typically lasting only a few hours. However, this brevity works in its favor, as the game remains focused and cohesive from start to finish. It avoids padding or unnecessary complexity, delivering a tightly designed adventure that respects the player’s time. While some may wish for more content or additional environments, the game’s concise scope ensures that every puzzle and mechanic feels purposeful. Overall, Shirone: the Dragon Girl is a polished and charming indie title that excels through thoughtful puzzle design, a likable protagonist, and a relaxed sense of exploration. It does not aim to overwhelm with scale or spectacle, instead offering a carefully crafted experience that values clarity, creativity, and atmosphere. For players who enjoy puzzle adventures, gentle platforming, and character-driven charm, it stands out as a memorable and satisfying journey through a whimsical yet mysterious castle. Rating: 8/10
Very brisk and charming puzzle platformer. Makes the most of the resources it has, with some very charming animations for Shione's various actions. The platforming is wonderful, never felt like Shirone wasn't doing what I wanted. The puzzles were all ultimately about manipulating switches to get around, but it didn't wear out its welcome. Recommended, particularly if gotten on sale.
