Battle Mages: Sign of Darkness

Одна из лучших игр, созданных на территории РФ, которую я проходил не один раз. Ни в одной другой игре я не видел подобный этой игре геймплей, интересный сюжет (в особенности в кампании за нежить), неплохая графика на 2004 год (в 2006 году игра вышла именно на зарубежном рынке). Жаль только нет никаких одиночных сценариев, только 4 сюжетные кампании. Игра определённо не без косяков: порой ловил баг, когда кто-то из отряда застревал в текстурах деревьев по ходу движения и т.п., но в целом не так критично. И, конечно, прекрасная работа наших мастеров озвучания, большой поклон им, именно в этой игре я впервые услышал по-настоящему бесподобный голос Андрея Ярославцева (да будет ему земля пухом, был одним из лучших актёров дубляжа в России). В общем, если вы не сторонитесь старых игр и являетесь любителями таких жанров как RTS и RPG, то спокойно можете поиграть в данное творение Targem Games. P.S. Надеюсь, таргемы когда-нибудь вспомнят свои истоки и выпустят продолжение...

Очень приятная игра, хоть и хуже оригинала. Приятная стратегия с совмещением рпг элементов.

Если при запуске игры появляется ошибка «cannot initialize 3d», попробуйте следующий способ: 1. Перейдите в папку «ВашаПапкаСтим» \SteamApps\common\Battle Mages Sign of Darkness\data. 2. Откройте файл «config.cfg» через текстовый редактор «Блокнот». 3. С помощью клавиш CTRL + F найдите строку vidHeight=. 4. Измените значение этой строки на vidHeight="1024". 5. Снова используйте комбинацию клавиш CTRL + F, чтобы найти параметр vidWidth=. 6. Установите для него значение vidWidth="1280". 7. Сохраните изменения в файле «config.cfg». 8. Запустите игру. У меня игра успешно запустилась с параметрами vidHeight="1024" и vidWidth="1280". Если проблема не решается, попробуйте другие сочетания: * vidHeight="768" и vidWidth="1024"; * vidHeight="600" и vidWidth="800". Хотелось бы узнать у разработчиков из Targem/Buka: почему этот баг не был исправлен перед выпуском игры на STEAM, если он существует уже давно?

Have you played the game Battle Mages that came out 3 years earlier from the same developer? If not and this series looks interesting to you, play Battle Mages, not this one. This is effectively a standalone expansion to Battle Mages. However, it feels like a low-effort cash grab- it's very buggy (sometimes to the point of making it impossible to win scenarios because it's impossible to complete a quest), scenarios involve a lot of monotonously going back and forth (moreso than the original) and the voice acting (at least in English) is extremely poor sometimes. I really enjoyed the original Battle Mages (and happily play games much older than these), but this is just a poor effort. It's set 1000 years before the main game and does add the ability to play as the Undead (with a new spell tree) but both feel clunky and not very well put together. For example with the Undead, you need to make sure your undead troops never get too close to a living town (or their forces) or that town will immediately turn hostile to you, which the game doesn't explain. If your undead even get close to any living forces you control (aside from bandits), your living forces will turn against you! I also had to figure out a couple times how to mess with the XML files that store game state because units that I needed to progress were stuck. There are various parts of both story and gameplay that seem like good ideas but they just don't put enough thought/effort into them to implement them well, so this game is a mix of some fun with a lot of annoyance. I played through all the campaigns wondering if it would improve, and it just... never did. And most of what I found fun were the things that were unchanged from the original Battle Mages. I should have given up on this game and just replayed the original. So in conclusion, play Battle Mages instead of this, unless you really loved Battle Mages and have a lot of patience for bugs and waiting for your army to cross the map.
