About
Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players flying through the expansive Arkham City - five times larger than the game world in Batman: Arkham Asylum - the new maximum security "home" for all of Gotham City's thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds. Featuring an incredible Rogues Gallery of Gotham City's most dangerous criminals including Catwoman, The Joker, The Riddler, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, The Penguin, Mr. Freeze and many others, the game allows players to genuinely experience what it feels like to be The Dark Knight delivering justice on the streets of Gotham City.
Batman: Arkham City - Game of the Year Edition includes the following DLC:
Catwoman Pack
Nightwing Bundle Pack
Robin Bundle Pack
Harley Quinn’s Revenge
Challenge Map Pack
Arkham City Skins Pack

Aged incredibly well. Combat is as responsive as it gets, the stealth sections are consistently fun, and the story is engaging throughout. Having played Marvel's Spider-Man before Arkham City, I did notice a few things that later games refined. One example is the soundtrack, which rarely lets the game breathe, often staying at the same loud, epic intensity even during stealth or quieter moments. Spider-Man handled this differently, only ramping up the music once you're discovered. My biggest criticism is the completionist content. The Riddler trophies and challenges are enjoyable at first, but eventually become padding. Unlike Spider-Man, where collectibles are generally available as soon as an area and its mechanics are unlocked, Arkham City intentionally gates many collectibles behind gadgets you only obtain much later in the story. That means completion requires revisiting areas, not because there's new gameplay or story, but simply because the game wouldn't let you collect them the first time through. Combined with the sheer number of collectibles and the requirement for another playthrough to earn every achievement, it feels more like extending playtime than adding meaningful content. That said, most of these criticisms only stand out because later games built upon the foundation Arkham City created. It's very much a product of its time, and an outstanding one at that. One piece of advice for completionists: I'd strongly recommend focusing on the main story first and letting its momentum carry you to the end. Arkham City has a very urgent narrative, and the game makes it impossible to fully clear each area as you encounter it anyway, since you'll inevitably be missing gadgets or abilities required for certain collectibles. Rather than constantly interrupting the story to chase side content, finish the campaign first, then come back if you want to clean up everything afterward. I think the game flows much better that way.
