Barbara: Sex Story

A detective is working on a case of a serial seducer. He comes to the suspect's home, inspects the apartment and says: - You have obvious evidence here: candles, silk sheets, strawberry butter... - It's just a romantic dinner! - she justifies herself. - Then why is there a corpse outlined in chalk on the floor?

What's a murder mystery with no murder? That's right. Nothing. Barbara: Sex Story is an adult "visual novel" developed by Juicy Peach Games, and it's the lamest attempt at a murder mystery I've ever read. This, without hyperbole, makes Rian Johnson's whodunits look like masterpieces (they aren't). In the following paragraphs I'll explain why this trainwreck doesn't deserve my recommendation. I'll start with... what is art direction? A genuine question for any visual novel developer, but it seems that the devs for this game didn't even bother to ask that question. They were probably thinking "let's make it all pink for wow factor and be done with it", and that's why all looks so unrealistic, like the story is set in some Barbie movie. It's too cartoonish to fit with a murder mystery story, but I'll discuss this in more detail in the writing assessment. Regarding UI, there is no backlog, and there is no button for autoplay, skip in the quick menu at the bottom of the textbox, which are standard features for visual novels. The only positive thing I can say about this game are the animations during sex scenes, because they're excellent, well put together, fluid, and next to no visual artifacts. I wish the devs treated the writing with the same care as the sex scenes. The gameplay is one of the many manifestations of wasted potential. There are scenes when you can interact with specific elements, which could have been a fertile ground to play detective, inspect for clues and make deductions based on what you already know through the choice system. This could have been used to lead the player to suspect one of the characters, and it'd add an element of challenge if you make the wrong deductions about the clues you found or if you find clues unrelated to the case, which in turn, can accuse the wrong suspect and get some kind of bad ending. But no, the devs went for the easiest and laziest way, because this being a would be murder mystery isn't what this story is about, which is what I'll discuss in the next paragraph. The writing is a steaming mess. I could hardly follow the story because the dialogue is so inconsistent, like the characters were talking about a million different topics at the same time, instead of, you know, stay topical to the discussion at hand. Characters don't have any depth, and neither of them have a plausible motivation to commit the "crime". The tonal clashes of this game are numerous, the dialogue is so unserious that you wouldn't think the whole place is a crime scene, the characters don't even act according to the context of the story, and the sex scenes, while well animated, only contribute to the tone issues this game has. The pacing is hilarously uneven. It took 9 hours of reading to reach the inciting incident, when it could have been done in two, at most. I also find baffling that the characters don't react to the detective as a figure of authority, because they refuse to collaborate with the investigation repeatedly, which would have landed them on a jail cell for obstruction to justice. And the ending is bonkers, because it turns out, the victim wouldn't have even needed to do all that elaborate ruse, when it could have been avoided using proper channels, which would've been far more efficient. Lastly, the devs have the cheek to lock one of the achievements behind some nonsense, like "wishlist our other games that have no relation whatsoever to this game, so you can unlock the "exclusive content"" which at that point I didn't even care about. Long story short, stay away from this game if you care about any semblance of quality, sex scenes notwithstanding. This is just another screenshot simulator with no depth, no meaninful story to tell and no effort to give the player even a modicum of illusion that they're in a detective story.

Красивая и приятная визуальная новелла с на удивление крепким сюжетом. Персонажи тоже прописаны хорошо как и диалоги между ними. Я бы сказал, что сценарист вообще единственный кто спасает эту игру, потому как по остальным параметрам продукт никак не выделяется из однородной массы других подобных новелл. Сами 18+ сценки анимированы хорошо, но слишком ванильны и неизобретательны. Бывалый дрочер тут заскучает. Не хватает разнообразных фетишей и эмоционального напряжения, к примеру, сцена с бдсм сделана настолько беззубо, что закрадываются мысли о страхе разработчиков перед феминистками. Авторам есть над чем работать и куда расти. Порекомендовать игру могу неискушённым в клубничном жанре любителям детективных историй и желательно по скидке.

Сюжет игры годный. Из-за ошибки запуска игры пишет: При запуске игры произошла ошибка. Не найден исполняемый файл игры D:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\Barbara Sex Story\SEX HOUSE Orgy PARTY.exe Проверив папку - действительно его и не было, но был Barbara Sex Story.exe. Поначалу я сделал клон экзешника и переименовал его в тот, что хотел стим - не помогло. Потом запустил его просто вручную сам и о чудо - игра запустилась. Пишу тут потому как может быть еще есть бедолаги, которым не повезло с запуском. В итоге просто сделал ярлык на рабочий стол от экзешника "D:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\Barbara Sex Story\Barbara Sex Story.exe". Сама игры очень понравилась - явно выше среднего уровня, сюжет, диалоги, проработка персонажей и атмосфера. Хотя поначалу было скептическое отношение из-за стиля аля все в розовом цвете и парень ГГ как такой себе паренек-модель, но дойдя до момента гибели хозяина мероприятия уже понятно, что над игрой работали разрабы с опытом.

Güzel bir oyun olsa da aşırı derecede hikaye ve konuşma var, araya serpiştirilmiş bazı aksiyonlar var ancak tatmin edici olduğunu düşünmüyorum. Bir kaç seçim dışında tüm akış oyunun kendisinde ilerliyor. Fiyatını hak ettiğini çok düşünmüyorum. Modeller iyi okumalık vs uğraşırım derseniz güzel oyun. Seçimler daha çok bizlere bırakılabilirdi. Tüm pozisyon aksiyonları bile oyun seçiyor. Tavsiye ediyorum ama indirimdeyken alın.
