In this city-building strategy game, you control a group of exiled travelers who decide to restart their lives in a new land. They have only the clothes on their backs and a cart filled with supplies from their homeland. The townspeople of Banished are your primary resource.

i find this game great
This was the first city builder I ever played, and it's still the best. Love the style, love the theme, love the difficulty, and LOVE the music. The ambient tracks are perfect. There's no money in this, there's just resources (food, wood, fuel, coats, tools), and you'll be constantly managing your resources. This game is not easy at all. It keeps you constantly engaged, and I've played other city builders where at a certain point it feels like you're on auto-pilot. This game never feels like that. It doesn't matter how big your town grows, it always feels like you're on the brink of failure. I like that challenge. Edit: Did I mention that this game is brutally difficult? After 150 hours I've literally never made a successful* town. I've gotten to 1300+ population, and it always ends the same.... starvation and freezing. *Growth needs to be managed constantly, otherwise success WILL be a liability.

Just fun!
tis good
A game with a good foundation, but plays like an early access game missing a lot of the content you'd expect. The mods help- I wouldn't play without them- but only take things so far. The game, last I checked, had a disparity between trees dying and being planted that meant any game would eventually see the map deforested, regardless of how well you tried to steward forests, and then your village would run out of wood and die. There are better clones of the game out there like manor lord, but so far the half dozen ones I've seen have all suffered from the same problem of lacking depth and variety and being labelled 'finished'
