best city builder ever made
One of my favorite city builders. I've started a new map more times than I can count. The management aspect of developing your city is fun, but brutal. But you don't have to expand all the time. If you want, you can slow down and play at a very leisurely pace - but there's still a very delicate balance between the number of houses, the increase in population, and the amount of food and materials you have at your disposal. What I like is that WHERE you build roads, housing, jobs, storage spaces, in relation to each other, greatly affects the efficiency of the citizens and the transportation of resources - which can determine whether the city survives or not. This really appeals to the detail-oriented dopamine drive in me. I started playing it when it first came out in 2014, and in my opinion it still holds up in 2026.
Good.
NICE
Easily became one of my favorites
Super fun game and a perfectly balanced level of chill yet a fair bit of realistic strategy. Pretty intriguing especially considering it has realistic resource management strategy to the gameplay. Aesthetically I love the feel although wish there was a bit more variability in landscapes/themes as well as buildings. Considering there is mods that supplement, I give it Overall, 8.8/10.
