Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Aug 31 → 0.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Why do the devs hate mages? Nearly every mob in the game has something to deal with mages. Silence/drain mana/Resist fire. (fireball being the primary DPs for a mage) Every piece of equipment including rings/amulets has armor on it and that lowers spell accuracy and spell crit. Every CC even when/if it lands has mobs sprinting up to the mage anyway. You would think FEAR would have them running away from the caster not towards them. The same with blind. Armor also screws over dex players by killing off parry and dodge pretty harshly. Didn't manage to get dodge and parry over 0% until 65% of the game was over even then it was never more than 5% until the last few hours. Not that it mattered as everything was a triple gold sniper with ranged attacks by that point. 30% dodge? Ignored! 25%parry? Also ignored. I could go on with weird issue like stun-locking but I am going to move on. The MVP skills of my game were: Farming for growing Land nettles and corn Alchemy for speed and defense potions Armor Crafting for rings and amulets worth wearing. (If I had known better I would have made low armor custom gear much sooner.) Mining/Smelting for arrow crafting Cooking for carrot and berry salads Lockpicking 1 point for free stuff Trapping 1 point for being a hard carry in my early game And Archery or hitting the final boss so hard he peed himself and ran away! Special mention to Arcane Arts for healing, CC and fireballs to cook animals for me. Tldr: Don't recommend not fun till the last two hours.

Clearly a passion project, combining the design, gameplay, aesthetic and atmosphere of the old CRPGs with the modern takes on systems like spells, building, looting and inventory management. It even has a PDF manual, the nostalgia immersion is real. Sadly, the only engaging part about this game is our own desire to play this type of game and so it happens that we actually found this one. Sure, it does have a character creator with roleplay decisions like backstory, class decided through lifetime ambutions and hobbies, but past that no real engaging story or at least a cliche larger than life journey. And the map for sure it's big, so exploration is possible, but not really fueled by a designed curiosity. So yea, if you're romanticizing about playing games like this one, go ahead and play it, it's solid, not the best, but solid.
Really great mesh or CRPG game with survival/base building elements, it even has wasd movement which is really nice. Hope to see a sequel eventually with perhaps multiplayer of sort and a lot of quality of life updates and stuff.
Balrum does what it needs to do, but it could be better developed and more polished.
Balrum is an old-school open-world RPG from 2016 by Balcony Softworks, with clear crafting and survival elements layered on top of its traditional RPG structure. On Steam, the game has 42 achievements, but Steam lists no Trading Cards among its features. In terms of playtime, it’s often estimated at around 30 hours for the main story and roughly 40 hours if you include side content (based on HLTB data). That said, I won’t be getting anywhere near that. After 3.5 hours, I’ve decided I’ve had enough—it’s simply not really my kind of game. Story Story-wise, it’s actually pretty decent. You start with a house that’s partially burned down and you’re tasked with rebuilding it, while also investigating an earlier family whose house also burned down and who then disappeared. I haven’t progressed far, but the setup and atmosphere are interesting. In the official description, the story takes place in Darkwood, years after your community fled into those woods, and revolves around “dark secrets” and a world that keeps getting more dangerous. Graphics and Audio Visually, it’s 2D isometric and clearly pixel-art/retro. You can sharpen the image and scale up the UI in the settings, which definitely helps readability, but it remains a pixelated style. (Fun fact: according to the community wiki, the game runs on an in-house engine designed to perform well without demanding hardware.) The music and sound effects are fairly simple; don’t expect high production values, but they do their job for the atmosphere. Gameplay At its core, you explore a large open world in real time, with tactical, turn-based combat whenever you enter fights. Along the way you’re constantly gathering resources (wood, stone, plants, etc.) to support the deeper crafting/survival layer: you can build, craft, farm (grow your own crops), and even tame an animal companion—and that companion is fully controllable, adding another layer to combat. There’s also solid RPG depth: you use learning points to build either a “pure” character or a hybrid build, and the game features dozens of side quests, dungeons, and even three different paths to reach the ending. My biggest issue, however, is direction and objective clarity. There are barely any clear signposts/quest markers, so I felt like I had to keep the map open almost constantly to avoid getting lost. Fast travel via obelisks helps, but not enough to remove that feeling of “searching instead of playing.” There’s also very little handholding; there is a digital manual available through Steam (“View the manual”), but in-game you’re expected to figure out a lot on your own. Price I got Balrum through a Fanatical Mystery Box and paid less than €1 for it—at that price it’s absolutely fine, especially with 3.5 hours played. The full price (around €14.99, depending on region) is something I personally wouldn’t pay, unless you really enjoy slow, open-ended RPGs—or you pick it up during a good sale. Conclusion Balrum has some good ideas (especially the crafting/survival systems and character building), but the lack of clear direction and the slow “from point to point” flow made me drop it after 3.5 hours. This is more for players who enjoy minimal handholding, wandering, discovering, and digging into systems—less for anyone looking for a casual experience with clear objectives.
Horrible controls and a chore to play.
This game cures hangovers. Play 12 hours a day for two days. These guys did Exiled Kingdoms, which I played to death on a tablet a few years back. It's a great little isometric platform, I wish the camera would rotate (it might & I am just too stupid), but I like the way they worked in the turn based combat so seamlessly, I can already tell there is way too much to do, this game is perfect for taking a break from FPS mania, or when your gf dumps you & you don't go out for three months.
Turn based combat really turns me off in this game.
