Lovely bit of nostalgia. You can certainly find better games and better graphics these days, but most build, in some way, on games like Baldur's Gate. I still think the game holds up, and I bought it in a bundle, which meant the game only cost me €1.68 - incredibly good value for money!
Baldur's Gate is an experience unlike any other. I came upon this gem from a few youtubers and streamers prior to the hype of BG3 and I can wholeheartedly recommend this game to any fans of classic RPG and real time with pause gameplay. Go into this game with research, take it slowly, and mod the game as you see fit ( perhaps after a 1st time playthrough) and it will reward you with amazing world building, moments of triumph and defeat, memorable characters and story, and a desire to play games similar that just simply cannot be replicated! This, BG2 and Icewind Dale are frequently on sale and I cannot recommend it enough even at full price. Though it appears I've only played fifty hours I also have the game on Playstation ( probably 100+ hours) and have considered buying it on IOS. the build selection, choices, and combat never stale for me and I can see myself playing this and those like it for a lifetime.
At almost 1000 hrs on this system lol over or almost over 30 yrs of the best character development best story and npcs ive ever played with. not afriad to admit romances when was a kid was huge deal for me helped me shape relationships probably and def subbed for the lack of stable friendships with like minded ppl growing up. the variety of the magic and the race/class features and being able to mod it to perfection if you so choose+ all the awesome art packs theyve added over the years and enhanced editions with classes like the shadowdancer, dwarven defender and shaman all of that come together to make the best and most influential game in my life. my bro said i should say something as well and owe him that much as he brought the game home one day from his friends house. thanks bro and thanks everyone for making and keeping this game alive
