Me aburrí.
Yes, I recommend it; but at the same time, only on sale. So I'm not going to give it an outright yes. It's fun, but needs better balancing, because when I go through story mode, I get a lot of the same cruddy single use items (breaks after x amount of uses) and not a lot of strong or upgrades for my items. I have barely seen any variety in any of my runs either. Even all my rare+ items are just magic related. I can also get through a run decently fine with basic stuff, and then reach an enemy group that just brick walls me, like a demi boss that summons creatures with 20+ hp, or poison enemies sitting behind a tank that just doesn't account any armor or benefits I have to stop all other attacks. Not particularly fun to spend time to just not be able to progress at all. ALSO, pathways being taken away when exp and money is already at a negative is just not cool, at least make it so the path you didn't choose in the dungeon just gets a little bit harder instead of just not being able to interact with it.
Pioneered the backpack battler genre but stagnated and became abandonware. Decent but now that the genre has quite a few games, it's overshadowed.
I can't say that I didn't have fun with the game, I just think after playing a handful of runs, I saw everything this game has to offer. The main gimmick with the backpack is great but it rarely feels like I can actually make a unique build. The game keeps throwing you these cool equipment that do different things but rarely do these things synergize right off the bat so most items you will pick up are super simple and straightforward. I think the best roguelikes force you to an extent to work with what the game gives you but here the game let's you choose between so many options and so there is no incentive to make weird things work. Instead most of my runs were super similar, with maybe one or two interesting items and not much more. Lastly, the game feels weirdly unpolished. The pixel art style is decent but it still feels like the game should be in early access. The way to progress in the game is through this map which is not very interesting to navigate and lacks more stuff to do in it. The campaign mode is interesting but it feels a little tacked on. If you can get it on a sale for really cheap, then I'm sure you will have some fun with this game but don't expect that fun to last more than a few short hours.
Great game.
Unfortunate that the devs abandoned this game, while leaving in the summer items, but not having any of the other event items. It can also be a bit buggy at times. That being said, there's still hours and hours of content to have fun with.
you like puzzle? do you also like big number scalling? this most likely is a good fit for yourself. i played so much of the free browser version and the full game is 100 times better.
