TLDR: Bug filled mess, horrific controls, Dev Team as quiet as a corpse in a morgue, AVOID. Even on sale. Watch YouTubers play instead if you really must. Man... I love B-17's. I never make reviews, but oh my god is this game a bug filled mess. I really want to like it, after spending ages trying to sort out this archaic control system and getting the game into a position where it's somewhat playable, there's just none stop bugs and I just cannot bring myself to enjoy it. Here are the three most annoying bugs that I've encountered multiple times in my relatively short time actually playing the game that have been driving me nuts: Crewmen that just bleed to death for literally no reason after a mission after you've patched them up sixty times on their way back to base and on the ground while waiting on all the other B-17's to land, if they do at all and don't just fly back off to German airspace instead. B-17's just getting the wobbles for no reason and then collide with one another causing half the formation to then also collide with one another making you lose half a squadron, especially when using time acceleration. Unresponsive mouse controls, you'll find yourself pressing the same buttons multiple times. Trying to slow down time or speed it up? Nope. You must click it at least five times and headbutt your desk to get it to work or use the keybindings on your keyboard. Want to hear the weather report? Click it a dozen times first, and pray to it then it might tell you the weather report for your targets. There's a load more gremlins onboard this bird than just those three. With this said, this game does have potential, and can be fun! However, given the fact the dev team is quieter than a corpse, and given the state of the other B-17 flight sim products by MicroProse I highly doubt it is going to achieve that potential anytime soon, or probably even this decade. This is literally not the same company from back in the day that made the original, it's a cash cow wearing MicroProse's skin like some corporate Buffalo Bill. Like seriously, for a game that is in "early access", getting one bug fix in January and leaving the player base dry since then except for the fart that was the dev blog in May teasing fancy new clouds when they can't even give you a single mission without a buggy mess occurring in one way or another speaks volumes about how MicroProse see's their games and their consumers, and judging from the games steam discussions and their own Discord server and the games reviews I have a strong feeling I am not alone in seeing things like this and feeling this way. For now, AVOID this game, even if it's on sale. It is not worth your time! If you want to enjoy it, do it at a distance and watch someone on YouTube play it. Example: Taff In Exile.
Does anybody know how not to die on your second mission?
Idk how anyone is even playing this game. Ive tried multiple times to even navigate the main menu and I have no cursor visible or any keys that work to navigate anywhere past the menu screen. Dont waste your time waiting for the refund and dont buy this garbage in the first place.
Between the redux and the original I have been playing B-17 The Mighty 8th for well over seventeen years. This version is not perfect. However with the recent improvement to the fighter AI its a lot better than it was. The updated bomber models are a great edition in my opinion. Not to mention the support of modern hotas flight stick setups which make playing this game a lot easier if you also have a setup for dcs or other more modern sims. I am ultimately glad that we b17 fans have this on the market. If your're nastolgic and just want to relive the old game I still recommend picking it up on steam. With that said if you want something new and a bit fresher give this a try its improving slowly but in big ways. If you are a fan of B 17s in general you should have this already lol so get on with it. Still the definitive bomber simulator on the market, a lot of fun maybe a bit of frustrating micromanagement needed hear or there but thats how the game always has been. I do feel like the redux is a bit more difficult in terms of survivability, and there are stutters when aircraft get hit, Its an old game getting some fresh makeup and kinks should be expected. I still recommend it either way and hope that the future of this series stays bright.
Pilot to Navigator, picking up a heading of three, three, seven....... Roger! If you remember that infamous line, you for sure played the OG Microprose B-17 The Mighty Eight. This is the same game but a redux which includes better visuals and sound, bugs and glitches on the other hand...... is about the same. Once in awhile you'll get an occasional crash for absolutely no reason. Sometimes the crew will randomly move without you telling them to. Besides the flaws, this game is really incredible. Considering the original game is over 20 years old, it still holds up very well against other modern flight sims. I grew up with this game and loved it to death but I can see why they put this game as "Early Development" it needs alot of work. If you read this micropose, I hope you can fix the crashes, they get really old. If anyone is wondering about this game on deck..... it's actually not bad. Although it does take awhile to configure the controls, the game runs a solid 60fps with very few drops. I also put a custom controller layout in the community tab that you can download and edit. Although I can't say this game is perfect, I can recommend adding this game to your library. If micropose puts some more effort into this game, It could be a real gem. (PS: DONT SHOOT DOWN YOUR OWN BOMBERS!!! You'll feel really bad when you see all your guys dead lmao.)
i don't think they even tried it before releasing it. what garbage this is. can't even take off without the game freezing...what a tease. this happened to me at Big Louie's in St. Robert, MO before i got kicked out.
This game is complete trash! Spent 3 hours real time in a mission just to have all but the lead plane explode on the runway upon landing due to them running in the back of one another. Escorts don't work. I clicked on a P-47 to see where it was. Found it in a river at the end of the runway. At this point, don't waste your time or money.
Buggy AI. Landings especially.
During Manual Startup, the "Energizing" sequence cannot progress as the [Start/Mesh] toggles in the Co-Pilot's instrument panel do not visually toggle or function when clicked OR when keyboard commands are issued and the engines do not start. I really enjoyed the original release of this game 20 years ago, but the controls have not been updated for mouse support/tracking without the cursor highlighting the submenus (causing obstruction to Action View and making firing guns switch you to another area of the B-17) and there are the simulated interface bugs. Still holding out for the Bloody 100th though.....
需要中文!!!并且我在进入游戏后不显示鼠标光标,不知有无办法解决
