Crim's Humble Opinion Curator
Overview
Azalea is a really neat little indie game. You take the role of a small child who needs to venture into a dangerous forest for medicine for their dying parents. There are some puzzles you will have to overcome Sokoban style, but they aren't anything too complicated. There are several enemies on your journey including bosses. For smaller enemies you don't really have any defenses aside from running or leading them to a light. You get two abilities to get you through puzzles and there are some chase scenes. The checkpoints are very forgiving and there are five different difficulties you can set the game to. The colors are vibrant and dark appropriately where they need to be. There are several different biomes to experience in your journey and the music is fitting. The sound design never gets annoying either. You can play with a controller or mouse and keyboard. The game is a short and simple experience.
The Minor Gripes
This game is a pretty well-rounded project. I don't have too many gripes about it. The movement can look a bit awkward at times, but I think that's just the engine. If you aren't into chase scenes you may not like having to solve puzzles during a chase scene. With the forgiving checkpoints, this isn't too bad though. There are some areas that look like you can explore them but you can't. The only other snag I ran into is some of the limited explanation of the powers. An indicator above where you use it the first time you use it could be beneficial. I would recommend it as a short little one session game. It took me around 40 minutes. Neat little game. It's got some nice art and music. I wish it did a bit more with it's mechanics (the second item gets like, 3 puzzles) but for it's length maybe that's for the best. It's pretty cheap so I think for the price I got what I wanted out of it. Main thing to complain about is wanting more and that's not a bad thing.
It's short. It's cute. The story is nice. The bosses are decently clever, although you've probably seen the formula before. Seem to be some issues getting the settings to save. Unclear what the point of the difficulty settings is if there are no associated achievements (not much of an achievement hunter nor interested in higher difficulties, but figured I'd point it out). The puzzles aren't particularly interesting for what I've seen of other Rad Codex games. That's about it. It's less than 2 dollars. I really like Rad Codex in general. (Says I have ~5.7 hours in the game, but it actually took 45 minutes to complete. I just forget to close things sometimes.)
It's a nice simple short game. It's got its charm and it does its job.
this game is adorable. the puzzles are good, the story is interesting, the art and music are really good. its a very short game, but more than worth the dollar price tag.
SUCH a fun and cute game! At first I was a little unsure but each new ability was a very clever mechanic and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It took me about an hour of gameplay to get through the whole thing so if you want a short diversion, this is it.
I have made a YT series based around games for £1 and this was my first pick! What a beautiful game! Check out my review here - https://youtu.be/xpFlSZAh5QY Well done guys, i loved it!
Short and straightforward, nice atmosphere, the story is simple but kinda neat.
I don't know how I accidentally picked this up. It's very short and feels like a demo. As far as those go, it's fine. Linear, top down sokoban adventure that has very tiny areas. Didn't run into any problems, it was competently made. Not sure why "games" like this exist on Steam. Buying and playing it is merely an act of charity to the dev, It's worthless to the consumer. Belongs on itch io.
