Awakening: The Redleaf Forest Collector's Edition

In diesem sechsten Teil gibt es nun das Finale der Reihe. (Awakening: The Golden Age ist keine Fortsetzung.) Die Story ist gut erzählt, die neuen Charaktere und deren Völker sind spannend. Die HOP-Szenen sind abwechslungsreich. Die Rätsel sind interessant gestaltet. Unser Pocket-Dragon und die Eule sind wieder mit dabei! Es gibt einen Strategy Guide, den ich tatsächlich ein Mal benutzen musste. Und: Ich LIEBE dieses Bonuskapitel! Absolute Empfehlung für Fans der HOGs!

The graphics are hideously kitschy, and the story is weak, but apart from those this is actually a decent puzzle game. The bonus chapter is especially nice, and both the gameplay and the minigames are satisfyingly challenging.

The final game of the main [i]Awakening[/i] series' story that focuses on Sophia. Like the other games, it has lovely artwork, soft music, and light puzzles. I found the story to be pretty decent and a good conclusion. The bonus chapter, which takes place years afterward, was a bit long and tedious. It also had an issue with the final mini game where the rules changed on the final wave. Overall, I enjoyed this game and recommend it for fans of this series or fans of hidden object games in general.

Awakening: The Redleaf Forest is the last installment of the Awakening series and it's definitely a nice conclusion to the story. Just as all Awakening games, it's beautiful and fun to play, but it's focused more on point'n'clicking rather than hidden object scenes and puzzles, same as the previous one (The Sunhook Spire). The difficulty is more relaxed compared to the previous games, WITH THE EXCEPTION of the bonus chapter. Seriously, the game designers must have gathered all the puzzles that had been deemed too difficult to use in the whole series and put them into the bonus chapter in this one. I can think of no other explanation, especially since the base game is actually pretty casual :D

Though I liked the game by itself, the story was wrapped up in a slightly underwhelming, where the plot with the centaurs and the dwarfs was a bit too fast, and was very divorced from the actual plot of getting to Dreadmyre to the point where it was very sudden and awkward to remember that "oh yeah the whole reason why I'm in this mess was just because of this one thing that I wanted from the start". I do appreciate the bonus epilogue, showing off all the characters and items that has appeared in the series over the years, Sophia's companions aged up and seeing a happy ever after.

The base game is great, a really nice conclusion to Sophia's story. The bonus chapter, though... you have to put up with an incredibly annoying misbehaving child.

This is [I]Awakening[/I] #7, the final chapter of the story. There is actually also an [I]Awakening[/I] #6, "Awakening Kingdoms", a free-to-play that is not on Steam and not required to play this. The next game, [I]Awakening[/I] #8, is a prequel. It is the best in the series in a long time, a back-to-basics casual adventure with a straightforward story and solid puzzles (no mouse-precision nonsense). It represents a nice summary of the entire adventure until now. If you've felt let down by the series for a while this game may make you smile again.
