Awakening 6: The Redleaf Forest (IHOG) The Steam overlay does not work with this title Options include Full-screen, Custom Cursor, Achievements Notifications and separate sliders for Sound, Music and Voiceovers. Choice of Relaxed, Normal or Dreadmyre! mode. NOTE: If you have black bars at the top and bottom of the screen when you enter, switch your desktop resolution to 1024x768, and it will run full-screen. Story: Queen Sofia's quest to save her parents is finally nearing its end. Join her on her search for the centaur-blacksmith who can help her forge the only weapon that can defeat Dreadmyre - The Blade of Courage. It's not only her parents' lives that hang in the balance, but creatures across many kingdoms. This is her most dangerous journey, as she is faced with fierce creatures and Dreadmyre himself! We have NO Journal, but we have a "companion" on the left side of the screen that we can click on for a task list (of sorts), and of course our friends Ran the Owl (our HINT button) and our helpful pocket dragon are ever by our side. Gameplay: For those who are sensitive: There is one spider that we have to interact with. Be on the lookout for Collectible Flower Stones as you play. There's at least one at each location, but there are also "Golden Collectibles", which are flower stones that kind of wink in and out of sight. Hard to spot, and you never know when a scene will have that 2nd stone on it! These stones are used to upgrade your garden (see the bonus content area below for more info.) This installment in the Awakening series feels different than the previous games, as the formula I've become accustomed to has been changed. It seems more adventure-heavy, with less of an emphasis on the mini-games. The variety of HOS types is still there, but I'll come back to that in a bit. Our MAP is easier-to-read, interactive, and can show us where active areas are. We can insta-transport, but it does NOT show you where you might have missed a collectible! Instead of being done in a way that closes off locations when you finish a chapter, these places stay "open" throughout the game (very helpful for finding flower stones!) Not only that, but we will end up coming back to an area and finding new locations there. It's all tied together very nicely by the story, and did not interrupt the flow of the game... In fact, I found it more enjoyable this way! Using HINTS during the adventure portion will do one of three things: Point you towards an area on the screen, give you a directional arrow, or give you a popup telling you which location to go to, along with a "Take me there" button (insta-transport). Usually after you transport, the hint will show you where on the screen you need to look (instead of having to use another hint.) The Hidden Object Scenes are widely-varied by type. We have our standard find-by-list scenes, but most of the time they're heavily-interactive. You may need to flip switches to see different parts of the scene, solve puzzles, zoom in, etc. There are also scenes where you find-by-silhouette (and these can also be highly-interactive), placing items back in the scene, finding where pictured squares are on the scene, finding multiples of items and more! Sights and Sounds: As you might imagine from the name Redleaf Forest, the game is gorgeously rife with rich colors, and yet the devs did a beautiful job of making sure that every location looks different (NOT the same color palette for every single location - a pet peeve of mine.) The voices are almost all very well done, the music is just lovely and the sound effects fit perfectly with what we're doing. CE Content:

Integrated Strategy Guide
45 Collectible Flower Stones and "Golden Collectibles"
18 Achievements
Bonus Chapter
19 Rewatchable Cutscenes
12 Wallpapers
8 Concept Art
12 Music Tracks (no option to save)
Garden mini-games
Garden: The garden has multiple areas. Zoom in to the giant flower to use the collectible flower stones and unlock seed pods. One you've unlocked a pod, you'll need to do a match-3-puzzle (remove all of the pieces) to obtain a special seed. There are 15 seed pods which you can unlock. NOTE: Once you finish the game, you cannot go back in to collect flower stones that you might have missed. Same with the bonus chapter. You have to start a new profile if you want to play again. Seed pods are used in the seed area to create different varieties of laughing lilies. Combine two seeds and then water to see if you've found a successful combo. Each variety you discover will be displayed in your garden-totem area. The third zoom-in area of your garden is the treasure chest, where you have 14 of the "Convert all the seeds into the same type" mini-games. Each one is a bit harder than the last, so it's not just the same thing over and over again. Bonus Chapter: The bonus takes place at least four years after the main game ends, as we take on the role of nanny to the kingdom's young and precocious princess. You can tell that whomever worked on this chapter has children, as little Andreia's voice, dialogue and mannerisms are absolutely perfect. It was a delightful way to wrap up this final story that has covered these past six games. There are 10 all-new locations in the bonus, and they packed a whole lot of game into those places - It took me nearly two hours to complete! Be sure to check out any books you come across! One of them gives you the fate of varying creatures/people whom you interacted with across these past 6 games! It was very nice to have that extra bit of unexpected closure! Verdict: This is the final game with Sophia as the protagonist, and the darkest of the series. This is not to say that the game dives into dark & eerie territory, but you can certainly feel the danger that you are up against. I love that the bonus chapter takes us years into the future, and gives us such delightful closure to Sophia's story. Highly recommended series!
I didn't really realize that it was a Big Fish published game before seeing some other titles of their catalogue. So, you bet that I added it instantly in my wishlist and that I've waited for a discount to buy it. Not that I wanted to buy it full price but I'm used to prices under 10 euros. Awakening is a series with Princess, then Queen, Sophia, discovering her lineage and deciding to take back what's hers and find a way to save her parents from an eternal sleep. The Redleaf Forest is the final chapter to that particular arc for Sophia's story. The Redleaf Forest is the theater of a war between centaurs and dwarves, because of Dreadmyre, the main antagonist. However, Sophia needs to find a centaur that will forge the weapon that will defeat the evil entity. And while trying to find a way to stop the war (though you'll see that the twist in the end that will solve everything). If the plot is well-written and can be played without any prior knowledge, I found it just disappointing not to have the whole story on Steam, even if Big Fish promised to release the beginning under the form of a bundle. You're missing all Sophia's background and journey to what she is now. The gameplay is quite the standard one: find items to use after, solve puzzles and clear hidden objects scenes (whether in the form of objects to use, of a shaped list or a list of words). What is cool here is that these scenes can be incorporated into the story (for example, being searching for something for the healer). The puzzles are easy. However, I've a small complaint: sometimes, I couldn't really find what to do because I've missed an item somewhere. The graphics are really good, colorful and sad in the same time. The soundtrack was good too. The fact that is a collector's edition is also interesting: aside from the usual bonus, you have a garden where you can play minigames and where you can make plants grow! So yeah, Awakening: The Redleaf Forest is a very good purchase. You would be crazy to miss it if you're a casual adventure gamer. And the full price is justified. Now, I'm just waiting for Big Fish to keep their promise to release the rest on Steam.
Game Information "Awakening: The Redleaf Forest" Collector's Edition is a Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure game. The game was developed by Boomzap Entertainment and published by Big Fish Games Studio. "The Redleaf Forest" is the seventh episode of "Awakening." Previous episodes: "The Dreamless Castle;" "Moonfell Wood;" "The Goblin Kingdom;" "The Skyward Castle" and "The Sunhook Spire." Since this is a collector's edition game, it comes with extra features that are not available in its counterpart; the standard edition. The Game Review Game Visuals I want to mention that the visuals in the game are nicely done. The visuals can be adjusted in the game's option menu. Game Audio I want to mention that audio for the game is well done. Even though the audio is somewhat simplistic and repetitive. The audio can be adjusted in the game's option menu as well. Gameplay There are four different game difficulty modes to choose from: Relaxed; Normal and Dreadmrye. There is no notebook in the game. But there is an objective panel in the game to keep track of all the objectives. There is no padlock feature that is available to lock the inventory panel in place to make it stationary. The inventory panel automatically comes stationary. There are interactive items in the game. Some of the interactive items may require extra components before they can be interacted with. All interactive items are marked with a symbol in one of the corners. The hidden object scenes consist of the following: Find 'x' amount; Picture items; Shadow items and Traditional word lists. Some of these hidden object scenes may require a little or no interaction. The puzzles are fairly easy to solve without having the need to skip any or them. There is a collectible in the game: Flower Stone. They are scattered throughout the game for the player to find. There are eight different achievements that can be unlocked from playing the game. Each of these achievements does come with some requirements that need to be completed before they can be unlocked. These achievements are in-game only. Since this is a collector's edition game, there is a bonus chapter, but it can be accessed only after the main story is completed. Miscellaneous There are extra features in the game: Wallpapers; Music; Concept Art; Bonus Puzzles; Novel; Movie Gallery and Game's Strategy Guide. Most of these extra features can be accessed only after the entire game has been completed. There are six different trading cards to collect. Only three of those trading cards are given out by the game. There are several ways to get the rest of the trading cards: Purchased from the Steam's Community Market; Trade with friends; Booster Packs and its Booster Pack Creator. Final thoughts: I have found the game enjoyable to a certain extent. The replay value for the game is low. I would recommend this game, but not at the game's full price value.
An excellent conclusion to this series, although I think I had the hardest time with the bonus chapter XD This is a fairly standard HOPA game in outline and quest-based story, but very nicely done. Lovely art, moderately good voice acting (not all, but most), and a coherent story with likeable characters. I had two crashes (runtime errors) near the end of the game, but didn't lose anything because the game apparently autosaves when going into and out of HO scenes and puzzles. Pros: - despite the 2016 release date, this game plays well in widescreen - choice of difficulty settings - interactive map - integrated guide with images and solutions - nicely wraps up the story from prior games in the series - bonus chapter is both cute and challenging (although not without issues - below) - bonus activities (post-game) aren't extensive, but they're nice for casual game play - lots of varied HO scenes and puzzles (mini-games) - Steam trading cards (but not Steam achievements, likely because of problems with achievements triggering) Cons: - slight stability problem late-game with Windows 10 (crashed twice, though no data loss) - needed more objects that could be kept and re-used - toward the end, I found the "HOPA/ adventure game logic" more than usually annoying; also, it just shouldn't be that hard to find a hammer in a dwarf village or mine (sometimes not being able to ask for what I need gets to me LOL) - the bonus chapter was a good length and had lots to do; however, I found two mini-games that I couldn't fully solve on my own *and didn't understand even after looking at the solution*; that may be me being dense, but even so, it points to carelessness in the design Overall: Get this game for your HOPA library. Better yet, get the whole series. If you enjoy the fantasy/ quest genre, this is a great series. I wish more recent games were like this one: solid story-telling, and *variety* in HO scenes and mini-games. It's nice to have some challenge. Let the user decide what difficulty setting they want. As usual, I recommend getting this game on sale, or at least in the bundle. That's a reflection on Steam HOPA game prices, not on the game.
Episode 6 Toujours dans le même style, un peu plus court que les précédents. Chapitre bonus sympa avec la fille de Sofia, rigolote.
Nice scenes and BGM and it's story easy for non English speakers to understand
when i brought today i thought they had trading cards but in badges they don't have.
What a piece of crap. Story is wimsey, grahips are blurred, hint-function gives no real hints. I am so disappointed with Big Fish games. It is absolutely not worth the money.
This game has an interesting storyline, gorgeous graphics and nice music. I really enjoyed this high quality game and I love how the story ends. Pros: + fast travel map + interesting puzzles + good hint system
