I played this back when Big Fish Games was pretty big and you could do the hour long trial, and I remember loving it. Now that I have Adult Money™ and am not 10 years old I am finally able to achieve my dreams and finish this game. Overall it's a pretty solid entry-level hidden object game, great for younger kids.
Lots of childhood nostalgia, very simple but a charming story with gorgeous music and artwork to enjoy
Ah, Awakening: The Dreamless Castle, a puzzle game so wondrous that I find mine heart eternally bound to its spell. In the days of my youth, this game didst capture my soul with its intricate puzzles and ethereal art, drawing me into a world beyond compare. Each click and twist of the game was like a dance, and every puzzle piece felt like a key unlocking a realm of beauty and mystery. The puzzles themselves, while demanding, were never insurmountable—nay, they challenged my wit and patience, but always with such grace that I couldst not resist. The very essence of this game, with its hauntingly lovely soundtrack and artful design, calls me even now, as if a distant dream that refuses to fade. Indeed, the allure of *Awakening: The Dreamless Castle* is not easily shaken from mine heart. It is nigh impossible to put down once begun, as if some unseen force drags me back to its enchanted halls with each passing year. The puzzles, each more beguiling than the last, doth ensnare the mind and spirit, urging one to continue solving, exploring, and uncovering the mysteries therein. One might say it is borderline addictive, a game that whispers to the soul with a quiet persistence, until all hours pass unnoticed, and one’s very being is consumed by the desire to unravel the next enigma. To cease would be as though forsaking a friend, for it hath woven itself into the fabric of my very existence. Such a puzzle game hath become a cherished companion, and I couldst not imagine life without it. It is a game that hath seen me through many a long, solitary hour, and I hold it dearer than gold or riches. Were I to find myself stranded upon some forsaken isle, 'twould be the first thing I would wish to have by my side. Truly, this puzzle game hath earned my undying love, and I shall play it for as long as the stars do shine in the heavens above. The Dreamless Castle and I, forever entwined, now and forevermore.
A game to play if you want to relax. I admit I was hesitant to play it due to being spoiled by newer HOPA games with voice acting, cutscenes, active maps, fast travel, and better hints. But I knew this was a classic of one of my favorite types of games, and there was a bundle sale, so why not? It took time to adjust to the older style of game play, but eventually I got the hang of it, but it did take me trial and error to find a few things. The puzzles were enjoyable, but not challenging. I felt the graphics, while they have aged, are pretty decent for the time it was made. I consider this a game to play when you just want to unwind for the day and play a few puzzles. It isn't as intricate or as polished as modern ones, but if you do love HOPA and want to see the roots, I don't think you can go wrong with this. I'm looking forward to seeing other games in this title to see how the series evolved overtime.
Played this game when I was a kid, still fun to this day! Lots of nostalgia for this, probably gonna do a full replay of the series.
Highly difficult on easy/casual mode, this game becomes a chore when you cant find anything to move on with and the hint is pretty rubbish, cause you cant really see where the fairy went to. All in all if you want a hard game to play in easy mode, this is for you, otherwise stay well clear of it, it has been a waste of money for me. I know they have to have some kind of hardness to them, but this one is beyond hard to play.
