About
Welcome to the Living Lands, a mysterious island filled with adventure and danger.
Set in the fictional world of Eora that was first introduced to players in the Pillars of Eternity franchise, Avowed is a first-person fantasy action RPG from the award-winning team at Obsidian Entertainment.
The Living Lands is an island where the air hums with ancient magic, the flora seems to move with a mind of its own, and the ground beneath your feet shifts with secrets waiting to be unearthed.
Now, the Living Lands faces a dire threat—a mysterious plague that defies nature and reason, spreading chaos across its sprawling wilderness.
As an envoy of Aedyr, you are sent to investigate, but what begins as a mission of duty soon becomes deeply personal—you feel as though the land recognizes you and is pulling you toward something greater. The choices you make will ripple across the Living Lands, shaping the fates of its people, its creatures, and even yourself. But beware, for every decision carries weight, and the forces you encounter will not hesitate to test your resolve.
Can you navigate the tangled web of intrigue, power, and danger to uncover the truth? Can you save this unknown frontier and your soul from the forces threatening to tear them asunder?
Even more to do in the game! This update brings New Game Plus, a Photo Mode, a brand new weapon type with two-handed staves, the ability to change character appearance whenever you’d like, new character creation presets, additional Godlike presets, custom game difficulty settings, and the addition of three new playable races: Dwarf, Aumaua, and Orlan.
The Living Lands is a place that feels foreign yet somewhat intrinsic to you as it feels the island itself is calling out to you for help. Explore an island home to many different environments and landscapes, each with their own unique ecosystem.
Mix and match swords, spells, guns, and shields to fight your way. Dig into your grimoire for spells to trap, freeze or burn enemies, bash them with your shield, or use range bows to attack from a distance.
Companions from a spread of species will fight alongside you, with their own unique set of abilities. From a former mercenary to an eccentric wizard, they will be part of your journey with your choices shaping them as you help them with their quests.

Reviews
I really enjoyed it. The game on its own is a solid RPG. With the Pillars/Deadfire lore and easter eggs, it's even more fun
If you enjoyed playing Pillars Of Eternity you will love this game. Same world and new story of Gods and Godlike.
Played it during release and didn't really like it. Gave it a chance now in 2026, glad I did - it's a good game with a lot of good stories. Don't expect a lot of NPC-interactions or the world reacting to you, but besides that I really like it. Now having finnished the game twice, once through Gamepass and once through Steam I must add that the 2,0 patch is a big improvement. Recommending to play through it once in firstperson and another time in thirdperson, makes everything feel new the second time around. It's a great game, recommended buy during sale. Works flawlessly on Linux through Steam, specially now with the new (at the time of writing this) proton 11-1.
Typisch Obsidian!
I'm pleasantly surprised! I'd been on the fence about buying this since it came out. I have a hard time playing games in 1st person (motion sickness) and the fact they have tuned up the 3rd person option sold it for me. So far, the story had been very engaging and the combat doesn't feel repetitive or overdone. I'm only barely off the tutorial area but I'm looking forward to playing more and seeing what the rest of the story/game is like!! Visually, it's outstanding. I'm not sure how the companions stories go, as I've read some push back about lack of depth online, but it seems to give you plenty of options from the get go once you start collecting them and pushing forward. I'm an avid Baldur's Gate 3 player (I also enjoy the Dragon Age series and Divinity: Original Sin series games) so this is a nice combination so far of a companion system + combat.
Trop trop bien
It's been the most fun I've had playing a game since Baldur's Gate 3. Pro's - The world is dense and exploration feels rewarding. No empty open world is a good thing in my opinion - The game looks great - Combat feels fun and fast paced. Cons - The game crashes occasionaly for me, setting an FPS limit reduced the amount of crashes. (I even did a display driver uninstall and reinstall to try to fix it). - There's no light spell or torch or anything to make areas in the dark more visible.
Good story, really fun combat. Think in Skyrim, only smaller and with a much better combat.
