About
Welcome to the Living Lands, a mysterious island filled with adventure and danger.
Set in the fictional world of Eora that was first introduced to players in the Pillars of Eternity franchise, Avowed is a first-person fantasy action RPG from the award-winning team at Obsidian Entertainment.
The Living Lands is an island where the air hums with ancient magic, the flora seems to move with a mind of its own, and the ground beneath your feet shifts with secrets waiting to be unearthed.
Now, the Living Lands faces a dire threat—a mysterious plague that defies nature and reason, spreading chaos across its sprawling wilderness.
As an envoy of Aedyr, you are sent to investigate, but what begins as a mission of duty soon becomes deeply personal—you feel as though the land recognizes you and is pulling you toward something greater. The choices you make will ripple across the Living Lands, shaping the fates of its people, its creatures, and even yourself. But beware, for every decision carries weight, and the forces you encounter will not hesitate to test your resolve.
Can you navigate the tangled web of intrigue, power, and danger to uncover the truth? Can you save this unknown frontier and your soul from the forces threatening to tear them asunder?
Even more to do in the game! This update brings New Game Plus, a Photo Mode, a brand new weapon type with two-handed staves, the ability to change character appearance whenever you’d like, new character creation presets, additional Godlike presets, custom game difficulty settings, and the addition of three new playable races: Dwarf, Aumaua, and Orlan.
The Living Lands is a place that feels foreign yet somewhat intrinsic to you as it feels the island itself is calling out to you for help. Explore an island home to many different environments and landscapes, each with their own unique ecosystem.
Mix and match swords, spells, guns, and shields to fight your way. Dig into your grimoire for spells to trap, freeze or burn enemies, bash them with your shield, or use range bows to attack from a distance.
Companions from a spread of species will fight alongside you, with their own unique set of abilities. From a former mercenary to an eccentric wizard, they will be part of your journey with your choices shaping them as you help them with their quests.

Good game! Good story and good soundtrack. Not your ordinary fantasy world either! If you like Elder Scrolls, you will like Avowed!
I had fun! The exploration was a highlight. There's treasure behind those waterfalls. It was fun to try out different combat styles. Note: This is not so much an Elder Scrolls game as it is a Dragon Age with a different camera. There could arguably still have been more polish. Considering the length and how much focus there was on combat, the enemy variety was limited. I still enjoyed it.
This game is super fun, the exploration is great, the world is beautiful, and the sidequests, characters, and main quests are all really fun. There are so many ways you can build your character, and I already look forward to doing different playthroughs with different classes/weapons/abilities in the future. The party members are all so interesting and have a lot to say about the world they are in. Following the story, you get to make a lot of choices as to how your character would think and react and it is really easy to get immersed. The customization is good too, and there's so many places in the world with hidden special gear that can really change your playstyle. Indepth and really interesting, this is a great rpg.
This game had been on my radar since it was first announced because I'd played and enjoyed the Pillars of Eternity games set in the same universe, but I only picked it up recently because of the high price it was originally listed at and some mediocre reviews. I'm very glad that I got around to it eventually, because this was one of the most fun games I've played in some time! The world building is amazing, the maps are beautiful and fun to explore; I enjoyed the combat (at least, playing predominantly as a wizard), and it looked great and I only had one crash during a particularly spell effect heavy fight. The biggest positive for me was the writing and roleplaying. I was invested enough in the characters and world to really agonise over many decisions throughout the game, and not just big point-of-no return ones. If you liked the roleplaying in The Witcher 3, with its emphasis on having to make morally grey decisions with limited information and live with the consequences, then I think you'll enjoy this. Even little things like the way your companions talk to each other in camp are great and really flesh-out the experience. I played 74 hours and every time I was in camp they still had new lines I hadn't heard before. I do have some criticisms: the combat is not super deep and does get a bit repetitive fighting similar enemies a lot, but I still found it a lot more engaging than Skyrim or TW3 combat. It's a shame that some of the unique classes from the Pillars games didn't make the jump to this game. There were a few times where I felt like the writing could have treated us like we were a bit smarter: your companions sometimes act like something is a huge revelation when anybody paying attention and reading lore probably figured it out a while back. Overall, this is a very enjoyable medium size RPG that I think suffered because the price it was released at set unreasonable expectations. Classic Microsoft things. Frankly, I'm not sure I can justify paying $120AUD for any game, but I'd happily recommend this at $70AUD and it's a no-brainer on a steeper sale than that.
It's okay
Great fantasy open-world RPG! Reminded me of the first one I played back in 2011, just with WAY better graphics and gameplay ;) Also very pretty with all the different mushroom scenery.
