About
Welcome to the Living Lands, a mysterious island filled with adventure and danger.
Set in the fictional world of Eora that was first introduced to players in the Pillars of Eternity franchise, Avowed is a first-person fantasy action RPG from the award-winning team at Obsidian Entertainment.
The Living Lands is an island where the air hums with ancient magic, the flora seems to move with a mind of its own, and the ground beneath your feet shifts with secrets waiting to be unearthed.
Now, the Living Lands faces a dire threat—a mysterious plague that defies nature and reason, spreading chaos across its sprawling wilderness.
As an envoy of Aedyr, you are sent to investigate, but what begins as a mission of duty soon becomes deeply personal—you feel as though the land recognizes you and is pulling you toward something greater. The choices you make will ripple across the Living Lands, shaping the fates of its people, its creatures, and even yourself. But beware, for every decision carries weight, and the forces you encounter will not hesitate to test your resolve.
Can you navigate the tangled web of intrigue, power, and danger to uncover the truth? Can you save this unknown frontier and your soul from the forces threatening to tear them asunder?
Even more to do in the game! This update brings New Game Plus, a Photo Mode, a brand new weapon type with two-handed staves, the ability to change character appearance whenever you’d like, new character creation presets, additional Godlike presets, custom game difficulty settings, and the addition of three new playable races: Dwarf, Aumaua, and Orlan.
The Living Lands is a place that feels foreign yet somewhat intrinsic to you as it feels the island itself is calling out to you for help. Explore an island home to many different environments and landscapes, each with their own unique ecosystem.
Mix and match swords, spells, guns, and shields to fight your way. Dig into your grimoire for spells to trap, freeze or burn enemies, bash them with your shield, or use range bows to attack from a distance.
Companions from a spread of species will fight alongside you, with their own unique set of abilities. From a former mercenary to an eccentric wizard, they will be part of your journey with your choices shaping them as you help them with their quests.

I'm not extremely deep into the game yet, but this one has me excited to get home from work to play. It's been a long time since video games have done that! Very rich graphics, story, dialogue, exploration, and combat.

Lore y Personajes: NO he jugado Pillars of Eternity y entendí todo perfecto.

This is a perfect example of one of those times I let bad reviews sway me from actually having a good experience with a game. Avowed, to me, feels almost like an older game, but remastered? I'm not sure how to really describe it but the way that the world feels, the NPCs act, and just the overall feel of the game just feels like an homage to slightly older RPGs. I've been having a blast as an Orlan Archer. The world is absolutely beautiful, although some of the shading for me looks a little weird. Out of all the upscalers, Intel XeSS Ultra Quality looks the best, even though I have AMD hardware. I have raytracing off, with a mix of High and Very High settings at 1440p, and I get between 90-120fps pretty steadily with no notable drops. Using the most up to date CachyOS proton layer, everything has ran perfect.
At its best the combat is juicy and responsive. At its worst you're getting stuck on props or constantly falling over. That's your own fault, though, because everything is telegraphed very clearly to the player. The squad KNOWS when you will stare at a vista and they bring apt dialogue to the moment. The ambient convos at camp and intuitive level design makes the game feel very in tune with the player. The world tells you which way to go, not the waypoints. Enemies that fall off a cliff leave their loot behind which is nice. The story/plot may seem a bit middling, but the whole animancy theme feels very topical considering the AI insurgency in the real world. Great ambient soundscapes and overall atmosphere. I appreciate the consistent theme of second chances and atonement. Depending on what you have been through, there are some highly profound moments. The Watcher is one. The thing that really prevents me from bothering to finish the game is the tiered weapon/armor system. It's the worst kind of progression gate. I just gave up once I got to the desert, however I would still recommend trying the game because I had fun while it lasted.
Visually, this game is amazing, but everything beneath the surface is a massive disappointment. Despite being an open-world game, the progression is so heavily gated that the gameplay somehow feels incredibly linear. Combat is a repetitive, chaotic mess—there is so much screen flash and "flashbang" visual clutter that you can’t even tell what's happening. On top of that, crafting feels like a redundant, unrewarding waste of time, yet it's entirely necessary to progress at times. I’m not a story person, but I tried rushing the main campaign just to say I beat it. Instead, a Battle.net error somehow wiped three hours of rushed progress. Losing all that data was the final straw. There is absolutely nothing left here to keep my interest. Worst purchase of my life.
Very much a "buy on sale" recommendation, Avowed is a very fun and competent first person fantasy RPG where the strongest part of the game is easily the combat, world design, and boss encounters, because the story/writing leave a lot to be desired for sure.
I really enjoyed the first 20 or so hours of this game but then my interest in continuing dropped like a cliff. If I could rate this as "mixed" I would because at the end of the day I did get a decent amount of time out of it where I did enjoy myself but at this point I won't be finishing it. I don't feel like the game inherently does anything wrong, its just that it gets mediocre in a lot of places and I just don't have the interest to keep going. I think some people could definitely love this game but I would recommend a sale.
Pristine(崭新的、原古的) 能被翻译成 正直?
Your character is a godlike (someone whose soul has been touched by a god) envoy from an invading country, the Aedyr Empire, on another continent, sent to the Living Lands to investigate the Dream Scourge – a plague of the soul. Whether the Emperor had ulterior motives besides that is left ambiguous. During your investigation, religious zealots of Woedica known as the Steele Garrote, led by Inquisitor Lodwyn, are planning a conquest to make the Living Lands a Woedican theocracy. Since the Steele Garrote originates in the Aedyr Empire, many inaccurately believe that all Aedyrans are as ruthless and authoritarian; this complicates your character’s mission on several occasions. Information • Two paths regarding the Steele Garrote: Join Lodwyn and be apart of an oppressive theocracy or oppose her and the entire Steele Garrote • Two paths regarding Sapadal:
free them or absorb their power
• No romance, with the exception of Kai making certain implications. • They/them pronouns and androgynous body type available in character customization. • Five races: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Aumaua (aquatic people; for the scalies), Orlan (fox-looking people; for the furries) • Five backgrounds. These affect dialogue choices. • Six attributes (stats). These affect various elements of gameplay which are stated clearly in the menu. • This story takes place in the same world as the Pillars of Eternity games. I’ve not played them, but based on what I’ve read, there are several references in Avowed. However, it isn’t necessary to play Pillars of Eternity to understand the story of Avowed. Praises • F*ckboys complained about this game and for good reason, because there is so much ggggaaaaayyyyy. Several queer NPCs. Kai is queer and his sidequest series has to do with a dude he was in love with. • Fun fact: Kai is voiced by the same dude (Brandon Keener) who voiced Garrus in Mass Effect and it is so fitting. • Another: Giatta is voiced by the same woman (Mara Junot) who voiced Kyoka in The Outer Worlds. Another bada$$ black woman, but this time with black girl magic, literally. • I love the sense of humor in this game. It’ll be a totally serious moment, then the camera cuts over to one of your character’s companions and they deliver a quip you weren’t expecting. It’s good stuff. • The game makes it difficult to please everyone and I actually like that, because making choices shouldn’t be about pleasing people. It’s about principles. You make a choice and you back it up, regardless of who is mad at you. • There are so many fun weapons. My favorite is Magic Mistol. Hee, hee. Get it? In D&D, there’s the spell “Magic Missile” and they applied that to a pistol in the game, because its bullets seek out the enemies. • Being Aedyran reminds me of being American. An empire that invades other places to “civilize” them and bring order, when the real reason is rather obvious. Meanwhile, the rest of the world hates you for your government’s actions (understandably). • Photo Mode! Essential for all those who like screenshots. • New Game+ allows the player to keep a lot of stuff from their first playthrough with the choice of keeping their character or making a new one. Attribute points, skills, and unique equipment are the main benefits. Complaints • Edge detection? There’ll be times when the character is perfectly at an edge and it takes several jumping attempts for them to climb onto the edge. • Character has to be facing a chest’s front in order to open it and sometimes that’s annoying for tight spaces they’re found in. • Difficulty achievement. That prevents casual players from being able to 100% the game, making it less accessible. I’m not even a casual gamer and I don’t want to play on Path of the Damned difficulty. I don’t find ridiculously challenging gameplay fun. Leave that to FromSoft games. • I hate to sound like a whiny b!tch, but it could really use armor customization. Some of them are just hideous and adding purple would go a long way. • Sometimes, there are healthy bear enemies. It’s understandable to kill the plagued ones, because then you’re putting them out of their misery, but having to kill healthy bears is mean and I hate doing it. I did like The Outer Worlds better, but it is kind of unfair to compare them given how different they are. I was impressed by how unique the story of this game is though. I’ve been trying to think of another story like it and can’t think of anything; doesn’t mean that there isn’t one though. The religious conquest stuff is more of a secondary storyline. The main storyline is about a forgotten god and a forgotten people/culture. While thinking about it in a deeper context or a real world one, it can evoke profound sorrow to think of all the cultures that have been buried intentionally by the “victors” of history. It’s an excellent western RPG. About 70-80 hours for the first playthrough, depending on if you do everything or not. A second playthrough is needed if you’re going to do an evil playthrough. I recommend the game for fans of the genre.
