Avalon Legends Solitaire

I started off Avalon Legends Solitaire sharing a lot of the detractors' sentiments, but once I got past my preconceptions of what a solitaire game should be, I found myself enjoying the gameplay so much more than I expected. No, this isn't another "gotta 100% every level" game, but it's exactly that angle that makes it so unique and interesting to me. And let's be honest, the genre could do with a little more creativity these days. Each of Avalon's levels is comprised of 10 boards with specific goals to meet in order to progress. These goals come in 3 varieties: get X number of perfects, earn X number of points, or get a combo of X number of cards. Naturally, the further you get into into the game, the more difficult the goals get. And as the goals ramp up, so does the need for strategy, and that's when my enjoyment increased exponentially. Once I let go of my need to fully clear each board, I started making calls on whether I should blow all my Wild Cards on a possible chain, or call a board a loss and move on. Did I have enough in my arsenal to pick up the number of perfects I needed to clear the stage, or should I call it a wash and start banking those Wild Cards for my next push? The game is clearly an older port, however, and the UI is fairly bare bones and missing much of the polish that one would expect of any self-respecting casual title. There's really no reason you can't view the stage goals/progress while on a board, nor is it excusable to only be able to view the collectibles/awards screen between each tableau. And just why can't I open up the Power-Up Shop from the main menu? But as frustrating as these issues were, I still found myself engaged enough to overlook them as I continued to push through to the end. Avalon Legends of Solitaire may not be the greatest solitaire game I have ever played, but it's certainly a pleasant surprise amid an ocean of cookie-cutter titles. Unfortunately, it seems the sequel drops the level requirements for a more conventional "perfect each stage" approach, which is disappointing. I would love to see an evolution of this formula, but I guess I'll need to be on the lookout for it elsewhere. 5/10 Not the best by far, but not the worst solitaire game either. Wait for a sale, is my advise, and only get this if you've played just about all the other solitaire games out there. I suspect this was made longer ago than other solitaire games. It feels more bare bones than others. And the number of cards you get on some levels is off. For instance, you need to uncover a hammer to turn over cards with stone on them but I kept clicking and clicking on the deck and not getting the card I needed. Now there are wild cards you can use. They are numbered and one time use. So you could use one of those if you have the one you need to continue. And in the store you can buy a random wild card. That was the first red flag that popped up in my head. Hmm....this might be one of those game that was phone/tablet game with in-app purchases and they want you to buy more wild cards. On Steam this cannot be done so we are stuck with the way it is. YOu'll have to do some grinding to build up your wild card deck and money to buy special help items. That's another red flag, becauase I did not gain enough money to buy all the help items! That is the first time that's happened to me in a solitaire game. Usually by the last level one has already bought them all. Graphics look older and are just ok. Nothing special. Sound: I don't know because I turned it off to listen to my own music while playing. Final thoughts: Since Steam only has a yes/no review system I'm giving it a tentative yes. I only give "NO"s to really, really bad games. This one is just for solitaire fanatics who have played everything else and need something new to play. Not the best by far. But not really the worst. I've seen one that is blatantly skewed to in-app purchases and they didn't change it for Steam. This one isn't as bad as that, just middle of the pack (heh, heh, nice pun, eh? pack?)

I'm a pretty big fan of solitaire games. I play them to relax and, at the same time, exercise my mind a little. Too bad Avalon Legends doesn't really allow you to do either. In a baffling design choice, you're unable to choose to replay a level you didn't do well on, making getting perfects almost impossible. Which is bad enough, but even just doing well is very difficult, as your hand is often 80 to 90% cards you don't need and won't use. I have literally found myself in situations in which I could remove almost no cards as all, because there wasn't a single useful one in my hand. It was particularly common to find the same card over and over and over. Not that the game cares at all if you've left almost every card on the board. For a solitaire game this frustrating, the actual goals it asks you to achieve are so easy you can do poorly on every single stage and still complete them. There isn't much else in the way to allow you to strategize, either. You're given a paltry few wild cards, and most of the time they're barely worth using, since they won't get you far. There are items you can buy that give you abilities, but most of these are pretty useless, being things like giving you 1 more undo, or something similarly pathetic. The story in the game isn't even interesting enough to keep be going. There's just nothing fun about this game. I know I can't expect every solitaire game to be Faerie Solitaire, but I can certainly expect them to be better than this.

Simple solitaire game based around magic and the Druids of Avalon. Gameplay is average and fairly quick and there's a store to buy items with in-game gold to make each game go a little smoother. I've bought some of the items and it has made it a little easier to get perfect games. Much like other solitaire games I've played there is no option to replay a single level if you don't get a perfect score and this is a little frustrating but not enough for me to rate down. It's typical of solitaire games it seems and there's no achievement for completing each level/game with a perfect score so I wouldn't worry about it too much, it's easy enough to complete the challenges for every stage without getting all perfects. I'd recommend this game when it's on sale (like now) or as part of a bundle but not at full price.

При первом прохождении мне по какой-то причине не дали достижение «Elder Druid». В тот миг, когда я обнаружила, что не могу переиграть последний этап, что для получения одной ачивки нужно заново пройти все 200 уровней, мир обогатился новыми словами. И чего-чего, а уж экспрессии в них хватало. Нельзя не отметить и невероятный рандом генерации карточной колоды, когда в ней может оказаться, например, больше десятка восьмерок или троек вместо нужной вам дамы или пятерки. Покупка джокеров проблему не решает, потому что их понадобится столько, что вы просто не сможете себе позволить их приобрести. В итоге их приходится в поте лица гриндить и, как следствие, ни о какой релаксации и речи не идет. Скорее вы почувствуете себя каторжанином, добывающим ресурсы для стран третьего мира. Советую, как можно раньше купить бонус, который слегка заполняет энергией ожерелье мультиплеера в начале каждого уровня. Сбережете себе время и нервы. Минус игре я ставить не буду. Играть в неё вполне можно, когда захочется посолитерить, а под рукой нет ничего другого. Но и рекомендовать от чистого сердца её не стану. В стиме без труда найдутся более приятные во всех отношениях солитеры.

Avalon Legends Solitaire makes me appreciate good solitaire games, as it is not a good game, but one that is less than that, or to put it in technical terms, a bit poopy. Avalon Legends does do a really good job of showing why making you play ten hands as a set to reach certain goals is probably the worst way to lay out the levels. Play all ten hands and didn't quite make all the goals? Start over. All ten. Whee. Now maybe the problem is that I'm really bad at high/low solitaire, so I don't make the goals, but I don't think that's it. Plenty of other reviews mention the same issues, so I'm not imagining it. The layouts are poorly done, and the deck is stacked against the player. In other solitaire games, I have to redo levels sometimes. More than once even. But to have to go back and do ten over for something that one good hand could have corrected, well, that's a bit much. There are plenty of other solitaire games out there, so I'd give this one a miss, unless you really only want to play the same hands over and over, and don't care about actually progressing through the game.

I thought the 2nd game in the series was hard. Nope, that was child's play compared to Avalon Legends 1. This time around you have goals (are they are no joke) to reach, magic cards to collect, and items to you can buy and sell. Graphics is really good and music is ok. Overall, I had a good time with this game, but still have not finished it. That last puzzle is a beast. 10/10.

This game would have been great except for the fact you cannot replay hands to try to get a perfect score. That alone makes it very frustrating if your like me and strive to get a perfect score at the end. I got the game in a bundle sale so can't complain about the price but I would not have paid for this game on it's own knowing I could not replay the hands.

Press a deep indentation in center of each with the end of a wooden spoon handle. Bake until edges are light brown, 8-10 minutes. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool. Fill with preserves.
