That was a much better game than what I remember from the harsh reviews when it came out. I think they may have fixed some of the problems people complained about. People were critical of the camera but between the arrow indicators of attacking enemies and sound effects I could parry enemies that weren't even in my view easily. The game also allows for a surprising amount of customization for your character. With different armors and tons of passive and active spells to use I gave my character high damage that heals from attacking to go full offense and finish the fights fast, even though the combat is enjoyable. I still found other parts of the game severely lacking though. I thought the lore and story were pretty good, but told horribly. The narration over still images to tell the background lore I struggled to pay attention to. The environment is predictably boring seeing as the whole game is desert. And the characters aren't interesting to really stand out from each other. It's probably the first time I thought a story could benefit from just throwing in some classic cliche characters. Overall I enjoyed my time with the game even if I hadn't gotten it in a Humble Monthly.
While this sandy action RPG is somewhat lacking in technical and visual polish, Atlas Fallen is still a strong outing from Deck13, with the outfit continuing to prove it's got the chops when it comes to crafting interesting mechanics and fun combat. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3743233728 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3744033249
This is maybe halfway to where it needs to be. The story is completely skippable, and the gameplay doesn't make up for the lack of purpose. There aren't enough enemies to stay engaging. Weapons don't feel meaningfully different. The map is littered with collectables that have no meaning. I think you'd need to be pretty desperate for a character action game to have this be the choice.
A lot of nice ideas here but they just aren't done smoothly enough to make it all click, it just clunks too much to be worth full price.
Its a fun game, combat is most of the time really good, sometimes frustrating but all in all very fun and versatile game. If you are not insanely picky and expect a tripple A title, its fun, an in COOP its more fun. At the end its getting kinda repetetive and the last boss fight is really lackluster. But still, its fine if you buy it in sale
Very pretty game with a decent story and smooth fast combat as long as you learn to dodge or parry everything the combat is super easy. The story lasts maybe a couple weekends if you're exploring with your brother casually and playing it.
Really fun game, can get repetitive but so do all games for what it is its fun, really great hack & slash if you're into the genre. The double jump to triple dash in the air is my fav i love doing that.
It's not bad but there are better games. Story is... lacking. I do not like memory loss based stories and the character you play as has no real personality. Just going with the flow with this magic gauntlet they found to maybe find someone that may or may not be lost but I have NO idea how they would have gotten so far away... The combat is where the sequel to this game could shine. The more damage you do, the more damage you receive but also the larger your weapon becomes and the more access to large abilities become unlocked. The issue with the combat is the parry'ing and the super awkward hitboxes along with being dashed at off screen. The lack of enemy varieties is boring as well. The game is pretty. The sand sliding is super fun. But I have just gotten bored after going on vacation and coming back to find the combat issues really stand out. Please only get this on sale and rush through the beginning to get to the actual combat stuff to see if you would actually like it. I expect good stuff from their future games though!!
