tl;dr it's a fantastic game and everything I wanted from a Resleriana spin-off, especially after the disappointment that was Yumia. Atelier Resleriana: etc.. is a spinoff from the Resleriana Gacha. If you did not play that, my biggest gripe was that it was a gacha because everything about it was fantastic. The highest quality, most soulful gacha game I had ever played. The fact it could one day EOS (and it did) made me mad, knowing that this soulful experience made with love would one day die. I longed for a day when we see the same style/approach but as a standalone game. And we got just that. This game has everything you want, great artsyle, great characters (Resna is BACK), fun story, great combat, fun alchemy etc... the list goes on. It's as close to a perfect game that a Gacha spin-off could ever be. Ontop of that, it has so many nods to the gacha and my favorite being the music. It also takes the assets/animations etc... and re-uses them. Some might not like this, but this is common in game dev, and regarding Resleriana's stuff; it was already perfect so no point in reinventing the wheel. I'd rather have more games in this series & style with the ported over character models/animations/attacks then something else. It just means more goodness for us, plus if you're not playing the JP Gacha, what do you care? It'll be new to you. I'm glad I can now fill the Resna sized hole in my heart with her again. I hope Koei Tecmo continues to publish Resleriana games, I will buy them AND their expensive DLC.
SO much better than Yumia was. How I hate the open world trend with a passion. This game is basically another Ryza game (not counting 3, as that one was open world too... ugh). And that's a good thing.
Rias is cute. 10/10. Jokes aside this is a really great entry for the Atelier series. The combat is fun. The world is beautiful to explore. I had doubt about the alchemy system at first because the dreaded FIFO trait system from Ayesha is back, but thankfully it's more manageable here. Character-wise, it lacks original character since most the cast is a returning character from the previous series. But, the one that we do have is great, particularly Rias and Slade. Seeing their interaction and relationship progressing is fun. This game is also make a great entry point for newcomer to the series imo, despite having lots of legacy characters. So, give it a try,
Edit: See below for my original feelings. But know it's just gettign worst. Maybe as a 90s or Y2K game, but today, everything feels slugish and written for teens. I can see where grind and replayability was forseen, however running around to go from cutscene to cutscene that are slow and boring isn't my thing and I ended-up just rushing through everything to finally end-this torture. Honset, yes the crafting opens-up a bit at some point but it's not more interesting or rewarding. Probably worst all considered. --- It's only a bit more than 1.5h now, so I may come back and edit this later, but so far I can't recommend. 1- This a PC version but you can't remap keyboard movement keys yet the game let's you re-use a bound key for movement for something else. Seriously? 2- The level of crafting I've reach so far is disapointing to say the least. People complained about Atelier Yumia's so called simple crafting; from what I can see here we've got the worst of the original Atelier series with so much simplification Yumia feels like I had to study for hours to get anywhere. I hope this ramps up fast. 3- 1.5h and I am still going through the tutorial level of things. Is this designed to prevent refund? Because right now it feels like I've got no freedom at all and it's again disapointing.

Another banger "side" mainline game. Sophie 2, Red&White and Lulua (if it counts?) are some of the entries I really love. I love the battle system in this game, definitely one of the best we have had! (Just wish there were some more interesting boss mechanics and such, two bosses were pretty nice though). The alchemy was... good, I prefer it way more over Ryza and Yumia, mostly because trait blending adds a lot of depths into these games. While the alchemy looks simple with its color matching, the game does give you quite a bit of options to manipulate and do some interesting stuff. However despite the depths it has, I will have to say that the alchemy can be clunky at times... Characters are enjoyable, the main duo is pretty much awesome and definitely the main point of the game. (Seeing Raze again after such a long time is also fun) Good game, would recommend!
