If you like games like Dawn of Man and Banished, this game is NOT really for you. While it is a basic city builder with many of the same objects as these other games, it is more like a clicker game than a strategy resource development game. You start out just having to click over and over and over again on herb trees in order to have enough resources to perform rituals. Then you have to click over and over and over on the women in your clan to make them cuddle their men to have babies. Eventually you get a herbalist who takes over the clicking for you and after that your herbs are so abundant you never have to click an herb again. Then when you get 3 buildings you can turn on auto-cuddle for your women and you don't have to click cuddle any more (though this doesn't seem to work particularly well). Then you start clicking on Oxen to tame them. Then you start clicking on planting trees. The early game is a carpal tunnel nightmare of clicking - you will be trying to figure out how to stop the clicking more than you will be trying to make your village survive. There just isn't the complexity in this game that makes other games good - this is trying to be in the builder genre but it isn't. This is a clicker game just like any other mobile clicker game, same mechanics. Just made for PC. After playing so many great early era builder games this is a disappointment.
First impressions after a few hours of game play: - the immersion is good for me. I like the background music and the darkness of the game. Nights probably are equal or longer than days. Take a look at the pictures on the store page. Many are made during night. This gives a feeling of mystery to the small settlement. - there is a basic tutorial which helped me with the first steps. There is also an in-game help - the "village" starts by having a shaman. He "offers" his services to pilgrims who come and go. Those services consists in performing some rituals. If the rituals succeed the fame of the village increases. The fame can be increased also when giving goods away to some traders. The fame can be used to trigger upgrades or call for settlers. For example, to call a woman the shaman had to acquire 80 fame. - if the pilgrims come to often the shaman may run out of herbs which are used to perform the rituals. If pilgrims do not get the ritual in time, they lose patience and leave. In such cases the reputation will decrease a little bit. The pilgrims pay also with some random resources (food, bones, hides...) - as time passes, the pilgrims start to gradually ask for rituals which I cannot perform so I have to invest in research too which is performed by priests. I hope they do not eat too much as I have only one cow :) - the population can be increased by allowing women to have children and by creating more buildings. But only one building of each type can be created. - each building can have only 3 settlers: the man, the woman and their child. By default women take care of planted herbs, plant trees, repair house. A house in good condition have some benefits like shorter sleep time. Children collect by default bones. - when the Economy button becomes visible, it is possible to configure women and children to collect wood and food too. It is possible to configure children to have more tasks. Just click the icon of the currently active task - collect bones icon by default. Children can also learn skills from their parents - not sure how this will help as none grew up yet :) According to the in-game help, "building a village is the first part of the game. The 2nd part is building monuments in a holy place". I am still far from that stage as I was playing on slow speed, watching what people do, trying to learn and understand the game. But it is possible play on 2x or 3x speed which might be very comfortable once the player is familiar with the game. On the store page the game is tagged also as "strategy". So far I would say that the strategy is just about making the right choices, to keep the village growing and people healthy and happy. This is in fact the core part of any city builder game. The player can mark a resource (trees, herbs, cows...) to be harvested but he cannot control directly the movement of people or to decide who will start doing a certain task. But the player can wake up the worker or to send him to sleep, he can tell him to heal up, he can cancel tasks if the wrong person starts doing something... so a little bit of micro management is possible too. My early opinion is that this indie game is well made. Edit: after I understood the rules, the game feels addictive!

I want to like this game because it's different. The whole management from the point of view of a tribal shaman is very interesting. As it stands there's no game balance and not much gameplay, the price tag is also very optimistic. I don't think there's a real game here, more of a fishtank - you do the basic things and watch things evolve. For anyone looking for a challenging city builder/manager this game is a pass. Shame really.
If you enjoy games like Dawn of Man or Banished I would recommend this game for you. I find it interesting that you need to build altars to enable research to enable more stuff your shaman can do and that you need to find a woman for each man that settles in your "village". But there are a few cons with this game that I've noticed so far. The GUI is a bit wonky from time to time and it's tricky to read and understand what some things do. The prio for your orders does not make sense sometimes and it needs more depth but I think it's a fun game and has real potential.
Follow our curator for similar games
https://store.steampowered.com/curator/35180752-3-point-play/ Unique building sim mgmt + challenging - scrolling is sticky = AOE 2 minus fighting. Perform rituals to gain fame and resources. Upgrade shrine, buildings, research and shamans. Enlighten pilgrims! Tutorial helps you get started, but there is still a challenging curve to learn on how to farm all the resources and perform all the tasks to ensure a prosperous clan.
There are positives and neagtives to say about this game: Postive: - nice graphics with great lighting effects - interesting village system - Slow progress in the village, which I like very much - it makes me forget the time while I play :) negative: - UI could be better - too few hotkeys, no manual settings possible - in general a few settings - and then bugs: too many had bugs like: - game has crashed - Fame (currency in game) is not calculated correctly or will not be paid as a reward - had problems saving and loading the game Conclusion: It is good but not well developed yet. It takes some time, a few patches and bug fixes. but for the price I can not complain
I really want to like this game, but I'm already stuck on the tutorial. Seems there's a bug that won't allow the "build" menu to close after planting a bush (stuck on pause) therefore I can't even finish the tutorial!! I went to discord server and there's nobody there, sooo.... I don't know if this is truly a bug, or something I'm doing wrong. Instructions are pretty straight forward so I think the game is buggy therefore I can't recommend a game that I can't even get through the tutorial on.
I am playing the game for a while now and really enjoy it. At the first glance there were a lot of things going on so it took a while to understand villagers behaviour. Game is very well balanced and have good pace. At the begining possibility to play on slow speed allowed me to absorb and admire nice nature and sun rises :) Later on when making new buildings, harvesting or cutting wood I preferred max speed. At the later stage of the game, I just slightly changing villagers behaviour through economy interface and focusing mainly to build my own Stonehenge. Game offers plenty of monuments of different shape, size and colors to make incredible structures, that have direct influence on fame income. It is very satisfying when village grows bigger, men and women have children, you let the make clothes and tools, so they don't get cold so often and doing their tasks more quickly. If children learns enough skills from parents, leaving village and earning fame by it. Appreciate I can try different maps, where are resources distributed differently e.g. hardcore Sweden, without cows and you have to grow most of the trees you need. It is very good game and recommending it.
