Very good scrolling shooter. Nice ship development. I'm not very into cat-world, but despite this great retro-shooter.
A fantastic game and a must buy!
It's ok. Player power is needlessly nerfed, and grinding is impossible. Same things give significantly diminished EXP the higher level you are. Another case of "devs know better how you want to play than you do." Super marginal improvements from higher level equipment, resulting in a boring slog. Regeneration/recharge should go up by whole points, not 0.2. Armor does nothing. Crit rate does not reflect actual performance. With over 50% crit chance from passive, I was getting crits once every 50 shots. Derrrrr Severely (under?)overtuned, but there is some potential here.
It's not a bad game. A nice story, you choose a crew and a upgrading system and colorful bosses. Short unbalanced and very small upgrade system and few achievements. You cannot replay levels. You raise 2 or three levels per level, but the next level immediately becomes more difficult not gradually. Achievements can be taken with one pass. The arcade level is like a poorly made demo but with potential. With a nice discount, the game is worth it.
Astro Aqua Kitty is a shump that thinks outside the box. It does this through character selection and its free-roam level design. There are missions, rescues, and puzzles—small and easy, but still puzzles nonetheless. I’ll list the pros and cons so you can decide for yourself whether to buy it or not. For me, it was worth every penny. Pros: Exploration is a strong point and adds depth beyond standard shump gameplay. Ship upgrades are satisfying and help shape your progress. Different builds allow for varied playstyles, letting you tailor your approach. A diverse range of enemies keeps encounters interesting. Strong art style and presentation, and the game runs smoothly with no noticeable bugs or issues. Last but not least—cats, and space pirate bunnies! Cons: Ship upgrades feel somewhat limited, which can make progression feel less rewarding over time. There isn’t a large diversity of weapons, which may reduce experimentation and variety in gameplay. No sequel, leaving the experience feeling like it could have expanded further. Final Thoughts: Astro Aqua Kitty is well worth the money. It starts off fun and accessible, but as you progress the difficulty ramps up in a satisfying and well-balanced way. Overall, it’s a charming and creative take on the shump genre that offers more depth than you might expect at first glance. 8/10
I am biased towards this game but It's still amazing. I love the artwork, the visuals and especially the soundtrack. The map designs are very creative. The gameplay doesn't get repetitive. I had a lot of fun while completing the game.
