I was going to be kind on this and either just not review it or give it a loving soft thumbs down but for the crimes of maliciously bashing my cpu for no reason on levels 2,5 and after the boss battle where the end movie just hangs there while it says cpu utilization in the steam overlay is over 100% and slowly rising into the 80's celcius I figure I should at least warn people against this alone. additionally I think every single boss enemy I just ran 10 feet to the nearest geometry cheese and they had no answer for it, standing there taking every shot until death. most every objective in the game can just be sprinted to and accomplished without engaging any enemies. I did like how there is consideration for soft lock events by providing backtrack, coop or checkpoint bounce pads for 1 way elevators and train platforms. I also liked how the environments are mostly open and you can run around and explore them if you choose. probably the most value this game offers is the pvp multiplayer. the developer has a conflicting statement in the community discussion area stating basically "yes there is bot support for the campaign and pvp" then they posted in the same thread basically saying "no there isn't support for bots in coop" not a big deal as this game being described as easy is a disservice its basically got the pieces in place for a campaign but its just a demonstration of the pieces. it also answers the age old question I have had that only a few other games actually execute, that being what if we just dumped actual bot opponents into a level and had them be the single player AI enemies. not scripted and designed enemy entities just the actual unreal bots and then I think along with that is a dynamic spawn system which places them in areas you are likely to encounter them? or just spawns them in front of you sometimes? I dunno but its clear that effort was made. all that said you can find a handful of free student project games that offer pretty much the same polish and length of experience if not more so. can't really speak to the multiplayer, couldn't find a game and i'm not holding that against the game in any way but based on the painfully generic design and the feel of the weapons and the remaining stock feeling of unreal that lingers it's hard to find much reason to even organize a match with a friend. it's amusing to think that maybe this is someones first fps game and if it were mine I would probably think fps games sucked and used all my cpu for absolutely no reason. seriously go run prime95 and let it cook for a bit. find your high point then play through this game and check the log or just keep looking at the overlay. it's only 3-5 degrees less than a full on prime95 rape or even intelextremeburntoolwhateveritscalled. you would hope that obviously this is just a me problem and they put the game out and it didn't melt their computer and they knew no better but i'm gonna guess that basically any computer is gonna get cooked by this thing. remember. levels 2 and 5 but it gets plenty hot on a few others. hottest abuse of the cpu that I can actually recall in like the last decade. simply bad software. I had to cut affinity in half for the last level and maybe thats why the cutscene never played and it just hung there frying the cpu continuing to play what sounded like the noise from whatever cinematic should have played but no keys did anything in the game so i just force closed it and since there are no achievements you can bet your butt im saying I beat it, which again is basically saying nothing with 0 difficulty settings or any reason to ever replay it besides to heat your cpu up to extreme temperatures. a hot cpu for me is like 71-75 degrees. 83-85 is mental see you in hell
To keep in mind that this is the developers FIRST ever release and it is still in beta, I had a LOT of fun with this with a few friends. There is the odd thing that needs to be checked over like the lack of checkpoints (the only MAJOR gripe I have), a few wall clips, score board and the class selection being bugged out, this was a VERY well created game! Looking forward to Act 2 in Q4! GREAT WORK!
Simply being able to play a CO OP campaign makes this perfect for a good couple hours of fun. We played through the campaign as 3 of us in roughly 2 hours (taking our time of course to enjoy the game) Its a space shooter, the enemies are pretty straight forward - some of them take a few rounds but it works. You can die all you want, switch guns etc at any death so you are not tied in to what you first pick. Can see this being good fun as it expands and probably enough to fill a whole night of gaming eventually!
Assault On Proxima is a great and exciting adventure to an alien world! In the game you fight tons of aliens and shoot em to pieces. The gunplay is excellent and the weapons feel impactful. The enemies are dangerous and a challenge to beat! The most fun thing about the game is teaming up with your buddies to take down the aliens and beat the bosses! The game levels are fun to explore and the music is exciting and atmospheric. This is clearly an indie game, and it's quite short, so probably best not to expect 40+ hours of gameplay out of Assault On Proxima, but the experience that is there is exhilarating and fresh. There are also a few bugs here and there, but nothing game breaking and hopefully the developers will fix them soon. If you're looking for a fun shooter game you can enjoy for a few hours with friends, then check this game out!
entretenido aunque algunos bus sino haces las cosas en su momento adecuado
Had a lot of fun playing this game. The art style, music, and weapons are all fun. If you want to sit back, enjoy great visuals and shoot a bunch of aliens then I couldn't recommend this game enough. The devs are great people too!
Really fun and engaging game! And at least for me, the exact amount of difficulty. Not so easy that you can easily beat every level, but not difficult enough that it can make you get frustrated. I really enjoy the art style and toon style graphics also. Really recommend for anyone that is looking for a fun, exciting game to pass the time.
fun game get on sale very shot. pvp is a ghost town
I love this game! The lead developer is amazing! A little buggy with the reloading and some other things. Although, the game has a lot of potential. I had a lot of fun playing the first 3 levels of it. Enjoyable game. I am sure the developers worked really hard on this game. All praises to the developers! :)
Really cool game! Had a blast playing it!
