I genuinely harbor ill will against the persons who decided that i dont get to access my single player games when Ubisoft's low quality servers are down
Black Flag takes us to the Caribbean, where we follow Edward Kenway, a pirate setting sail in pursuit of wealth and a better life, caught in the conflict between Assassins and Templars as both sides seek a powerful tool known as the Observatory. The narrative is well structured, making the central character a compelling reference point for how a person can change through the experiences life throws at them. Edward faces a series of trials with real consequences, and these set in motion a genuine process of transformation. It is a positive arc, starting with a man willing to do anything for money and ending with someone who has found a better path for himself. The combination of the Caribbean setting, breathtaking in its distinctive blue waters, and the blond protagonist with a subtle scar across his face felt like the perfect visual identity for the game. I appreciated the presence of characters such as the legendary Blackbeard (Edward Teach) alongside lesser known but equally memorable figures like Mary Read, Anne Bonny, and Calico Jack. The combat mechanics feel refined compared to previous entries, and the ship hitboxes are well designed. The open world filled with islands to explore and the freedom to sail between them was simply wonderful, and I will say that I sank enough ships to fill the ocean floor with wrecks. The treasure map system was a highlight for its simplicity, offering nothing more than coordinates and a hand drawn sketch, yet navigating by those alone was genuinely enjoyable. The game also includes two DLCs worth mentioning. One features Aveline, who had previously appeared as DLC in the prior entry and whose return here felt like a brief but welcome reunion. The other stood out for giving me the chance to experience the story through the eyes of Adéwalé, a former slave born in Trinidad who became Edward's first mate aboard the Jackdaw. If you are looking to set sail aboard a pirate ship with a charismatic captain finding his way toward understanding what truly matters, this game will not disappoint. I consider it a lesson in reflecting on human behavior and the capacity to become a better person.
Officially Finished.
This is the Best Assassins Creed game and Probably the best Pirate game ever. But The Physx Bugs and no Cloud Saves cancel out 1 point 9/10
