About
Ascendant Dawn is a grand strategy game where you lead a nomadic tribe in a brutal bronze age world. Choose how to play from peaceful herders to blood thirsty raiders. The fate of your tribe lies in your hands; will you lead them to glory or fall victim to your foes. Ascendant Dawn is a fresh take on the grand strategy genre where instead of growing a nation you grow a nomadic tribe. Improve your tribe with technology and traditions over time.

Pick from dozens of cultures to play as each with their own unique modifiers and traditions. Additionally choose from five different starts of varying difficulty.
Enact and remove traditions to influence your culture and enable different mechanics and play styles.

The world of Ascendant Dawn is based on the bronze age and features a variety of environments. Tundra, steppe, forest, mountains and desert all have their own unique impacts. There are many existing empires to avoid and upstart powers to compete with. Seasons change the world, once prosperous lands freeze and any tribe there can starve.

A diverse array of unit types with cultures having additional unique units. Building armies requires the right resources, population and even livestock. Command your armies on 2D battlefields where terrain heavily impacts your success. Use diplomacy and trade to ensure victory before the war even starts by cutting enemies off from vital resources like tin and war horses.

As a tribe found or conquer a settlement to start your journey to being an empire. Settlement management adds a whole new dimension to Ascendant Dawn. Focus on building up while avoiding pitfalls such as disease and famine. As settlements grow and new buildings are built this is reflected on the map.
Advance technologically along an extensive tech tree. Go from the early bronze age to the height of the iron age. Technologies unlock new abilities, structures and units.

Your population is your most valuable resource. The population system forces you to think long term problems like demographic collapse are an ever present threat and if you force your farmers to be soldiers then no food will be produced. As well as human population you also control herds of livestock which can be domesticated providing more benefits
Gather notables from amongst your population and use them to grow your dynasty, a strong dynasty is crucial for survival but be aware of those plotting against you.

Conquer towns. Steal food and resources, take their slaves. Sell everything to their enemies. Build too large of an army to redo it all again. Food runs out. Slaughter all your animals. Not enough food to go around. Die. Great looking game, combat is turn base point and click. Needs some more work probably, but for 15$ not bad.
An interesting and promising game, but at its current stage, it needs a lot of improvements and updates, so it seems like an early access tag is appropriate. The UI is very unfriendly, and the screen resolution options are limited. The gameplay is quite enjoyable.
I just don't have the patience in the year of our lord 2026. The GUI is ugly and unintuitive, the in-game encyclopedia isn't formatted correctly and is difficult to read on wide resolution settings, and the controls mostly don't work. Pausing the game doesn't seem to do anything, and left click / right click do the opposite of what you think they would. The straw that broke the fat gamer's back was the game crashing while I was exploring the in-game production menus. The game really feels like someone saw Mount and Blade Warband, and decided they wanted to put in 30% of the effort. This should be an early access title.
I do like to see this game improve and I will keep coming back to it. It needs to cook. To the devs please keep building .this is a wonderful idea.
The UI is broken so it isn't really playable in this current state. I intended to wait and come back to this but when I realized how much I paid my instant reaction was "get the refund"!
This game was pretty refreshing actually, surprisingly deep with a lot of great, complex systems. If youre someone who enjoys RTS games id highly recommend!
I am surprised this game isn't listed in early access. The developer responded very quickly to my feedback so that's a very good sign. It has the makings of a great game. Currently there are some issues and basics that I think need resolving or improving before any of the more complex elements are reached. Seems to be an interesting indy game so I am happy to give big thumbs up. With work it could be excellent and for $15 it's already worth a try and a few hours of fun with the potential for very many more.
I don't ussually write reviews but I LOVE this game. Sure it has its bugs and issues but it was just released this month. So I am super excited to see where it goes. Although the resources can be un balanced at times and the dynasty system is buggy at times (my character died so I took over as his son and then the son had two clones of himself in his family tree under the childrens tab XD). Overall I love migrating around trading, raiding, and exploring. So excited for future updates and any additional content that may come with time.
a fun indie game with a lot of potential. It has a few bugs but very active developer. Lead your tribe through trade or raid and eventually conquest other tribes.
As someone who has been playing this game for a little while now. Going back to last year and messing around with the demo This game has come a long way from how it was when I first grabbed it It's still an early access game and there was still a good amount of things that require some fixing and bugs to be patched. However, the framework is there and the game is really fun to play. The Dev is very active and quick to stamp out any reported bugs, via the Discord I look forward to seeing how this game continues to develop in the future and would urge anyone who's curious to either try the Demo or grab a copy of the game for themselves
