AR-K – point’n’click.

I played Episode 3 years ago (not knowing it was a sequel) and I liked it, despite still being a (forever) unfinished story. So I bought these 2 previous entries, expecting more of the same. Don't do that. 1 and 2 are ridiculous. Firstly, they offer a terrible interface: no save menu, no options, no hot spots key, no fast walk, no fast transitions, unmarked interactables, atrocious inventory, no item descriptions, no item labels, tedious drag & drops, keyboard required for skipping, illegible subtitles (translations) over alien speak, out of screen labels... and I'm forgetting some. On top of that, the story doesn't make any sense, the storytelling is utterly disjointed and incomprehensible, the feedback fluctuates between useless and totally absent, the puzzles have no rhyme nor reason (not in their build up, not in their consequences, not in their relationships with the rest, not in their physical/UI completion... they are consistently among the worst Pn'C puzzles ever committed,) the entitled protagonist is despicable (wait until you see what she does to her friends, or rather don't,) not to mention how gross some scenes are. The only worthy component is the voicing. It's playable (by trying everything on everything, preferably each most unrelated 2 things you can think of,) but it's definitely unpleasant.
Really bad. There's some good work to improve it in Episode 2, but it's not nearly enough.
AR-K is the type of point-and-click adventure where you have to try every possible combination of every interaction to move the plot along because solutions to problems are often nonsensical and require a very specific set of prior interactions to trigger. The story is boring and revolves entirely around the self-centered and unlikable heroine who causes bodily harm to her roommate on multiple occasions just to get what she wants. And if that wasn't enough, the game is just plain broken. There are bugged achievements that don't trigger unless you follow specific instructions, and game breaking bugs like when the rat icon doesn't appear in your backpack and you have no choice but to restart the entire chapter because you need an icon in order to interact with the puzzle.

AR-K: Point and Click Adventure (2014) One of those games I have but have no idea how I got it back in the day (I believe Steam gave it away for free). Its a pretty ok point and click adventure game, although my only real critique is the game is much too short. You have two chapters to play, but both can be completed around under an hour if you know what to do. Also some of the puzzles are very... weird. You have to make a drink to cure a hangover, one of the ingredients you need you get from feeding a hamburger to your dog... the thing left behind you add to the wake up drink... like... yeaaaah its not something I would think to do in a million years. Really not much to say about this game. Very short with some weird puzzles you need to do. I see there is another game released, but I don't think I will be going on with this series. Not the best point and click I have ever played, but I guess you can kill off some time if you really have nothing els to do. 6/10
While trying to play this game it makes literally my skin crawl and my teeth ache.

I've decided to put a review on the 500+ games I've played on Steam and never reviewed. this is #10 I'm not recommending this because it's good. I'm recommending it because it is truly a fascinating piece of software. That game is weird. It's one of those things you play and are baffled by what is happening while playing it. Even today, I remember being continuously in a state of "WTF?" while playing it. But in the end, it left a pretty nice and funny memory. Play this if you like weird curiosities that make no sense. this is a good experience not because of its quality, but because of how unintentionally weird it is.
