I'm writing this review for a different reason than enjoyment of the game. I posted a complaint about the TAA looking awful in the steam review. The game looked blurry, flickering, just wrong on my machine. And within hours, the dev replied. He did not give a canned "we'll look into it." response. He actually saw my screenshots on the discord, read my bug report in full, then explained the TAA situation in his game, and started working with me in real-time to fix it. We went back and forth through config files, tweaking settings together until the game finally looked nice. I couldn't have done it alone. He also told me he's planning an update with an Advanced video settings tab, more AA options, and other improvements based on player feedback. He really cares about the game he's making. These devs acknowledged a player concern, worked directly with me to fix it, and are already planning improvements because people took the time to tell them what they felt could change (and they listened). They've earned every bit of my recommendation. Spend your money on devs that actually care about their product and their community. Apex Rush devs have proven that they do.
This is the game I always wanted when I was a kid but never got. Being able to play this now, as an adult, is such a delight. I love it. This game seriously has the potential to bypass Trackmania as the best track game on steam. There is so much potential (With only a few added features) to make this a seriously perfect 10/10 game. This is what I'm not a big fan of: - Air rolls feel a bit slow - The handbrake doesn't kick the car sideways enough for sharp turns. - The handling feels a little soft still. Not as hard or snappy like trackmania feels. - No Undo button on the track builder. (Broken Undo feature) Things I'd Love to See: + Improved tools for track design. Currently you can snap tracks to the grid, which is great, but you get this very grid-like map. There is a free rotate tool, but it's difficult to use. And it would be nice to be able to snap track pieces to pieces that have been rotated in different ways. + A VW Golf GTI MKIV (I love this car dearly. This probably won't happen but hey, its always a no if you never ask.) + A Custom track shaper tool. Think belts from Satisfactory and how you place them. You can place them in three different ways which can snap to the grid or be completely free to roam wherever. Essentially giving you the freedom to create a roller coaster like effect with the track. This would make the editor INSANE. Probably one of the hugest ways to build the community and help accelerate sales/growth for this game. The more creative freedom thats in the track builder, the more this game will absolutely thrive.
better than trackmania
I generally like the game! I’ve been following the development of this game for the past 3 years, and I like where things are going. I do have some complaints though: On controller, the cars feel light and lack weight in my opinion, as well as feeling very sensitive with no setting to change this. Although decent, I think the lighting system is a bit boring, and ends up looking more like a mobile game. There’s a lack of reflections and fog/haze looks blobby with little dimension. Settings to change texture, reflection, and shadow quality (including other quality settings) would also be very helpful for people with low-end systems. With all that said, I do believe the is very well optimized. I’m able to play extremely smoothly on my ROG Ally z1 Extreme, even on my 1440p 144hz monitor. The game also feels very snappy on keyboard. The map builder is also very straightforward, and playing community-made maps is extremely simple. I do come from playing alternate titles such as Need for Speed and Forza Horizon, so my comments mights be skewed in some manner.
i really like the fact that you have in air control as thats a rare thing in car games
This game has a lot of potential. It absolutely destroys track mania 2020. Its like NFS heat mixed with trackmania, but without ubisoft. Its awesome. I hope to see more car customization items, and the resolution a little more accurate. Laptop core i7 8 core 2.8ghz 32gb ddr4 external graphics rx570 over thunderbolt. Runs about 60-70fps bottomed out on graphics. My cpu is maxxed. It does look grainy, but it does a good job of feeling more like a retro game, than a crappy running AAA title. Good job DEV team.
You know the type of videos you see with that one ubisoft racing game, where half of it is ai script and the other half is the guy zooming / skating through ridiculous maps . i've been looking for something better and more challenging than that type of game and this is it. i swear the tracks are so smooth, your eyes literally lose track as you glance over the asphalt warping all around you in the most pleasant ways. do you have to do a lot of retakes to get the track physics right? yeah sure but that's part of the fun. can't wait to see what's more to come.
No deterministic physics because the author of the game said it's impossible to do on Unreal Engine and it looks like ♥♥♥♥ because of Unreal Engine. All I see is dithering all over the place unless you use TAA/TSR which sucks. This is no alternative for Trackmania, unfortunately.
Great game, the time trials are difficult but fun. Kind of gives a GTA Trackmainia vibe.
