About
As governor, how you build and govern will shape your story, your citizens’ destiny, and your provinces’ future. Will you cooperate with other governors or prove your military prowess by challenging your rivals? The cost of peace is yours to decide.
Build your provinces with unmatched detail, flexibility, and scale. Watch kids chase dogs through the streets or thousands cheer in the arena. Build upon the land that you see, from the beautiful heartland of Latium to the mysterious Celtic wetlands of Albion… where no civilized Roman wants to be.
Design the cities of your dreams at the peak of the Roman Empire as you balance your people's needs with the relentless demands of the emperor. Forge alliances across the empire or showcase your might with strategic land battles and naval combat. You may even defy the emperor himself – but not without consequences.
Every decision you make as governor matters. Will you honor local Celtic culture or enforce Roman traditions? Grow your provinces through diplomacy and commerce or conquer through military strength. Your choices will shape not only the future of your citizens and your provinces, but your own story as well.

After Anno 1800, Anno 117 had some big expectations to live up to—and in my opinion, it delivers. Anno 117 brings back all the great mechanics that make sense within its historical setting while preserving the modern Anno feel in a fantastic world. I'm already looking forward to the upcoming DLCs and can highly recommend Anno 117.
It is my understanding is that most of the hate is coming from the fact that previous Anno had more content after years of support. I have only played the previous title for 25 minutes or so, and there are lol of similarities between the two I played; however I would like to share what I like more about Pax Romana: * Default WASD camera controls. * Customizable hot-bar for frequently used buildings. * The grass, trees, water, and overall graphical fidelity. * The UI and chain organization is much more intuitive. * The Roman and Celtic theme. 2026 is a weird time in gaming. It isn't new for games to release content after the initial release, just look at: * Warcraft 3 (2002) * Red Alert 2 (2000) * The Sims (2000) * Halo 3 (2007) * Morrowind (2002) * Any MMORPG - Runescape, WoW, MapleStory, etc.. I'm certainly not enthusiastic about the revenue model.... I like supporting developers, but I also like buying the majority of the game at release. Am I expected to pay an additional $35 per year for the next 5 years to unlock each years content? The unfortunate circumstance is that users can only speculate if the new content will be enjoyable, worthwhile, not stripped form the original design or previous titles, and is genuinely a unique and new experience for Anno vets and new comers. Games with years of DLC are genuinely games I avoid if I am arriving late. This model really seems like a sword that can cut both ways. Moving on, I do find this game to have a relatively gentle learning curve. The steps to learn each citizen and tech tree is fairly simple. The combat reminds me of a simplified Total War since I can click and drag my army to resize, reposition, and set up my flanks and retreats. Micromanaging your troops and ships will save lives and win battles. The primary layer of enjoyment for me is city building and logistics, but it can be fun rushing an island and destroying its leader. I haven't played too much with the combat mechanics, nor have I had any long wars to win. My only real gripe is that the real time waiting of ship building, troop recruitment, and province to province travel can feel a bit cumbersome - I'm mostly talking about the 15 minutes real time it takes to transport cargo province to province. When I reached that stage of the game for the first time, my enjoyment levels started to take a dip. The other annoying thing is campaign related.
I spent forever trying to kill the jackass pirate lord in the campaign and I felt like I was hardly rewarded. His pirate cove was tricky and took me a few attempts to figure out the strategy.
This is similar to Anno 1800. For now it is quite barebones. This needs more DLC and the integrated mod loader within the game asap.

I adore this game-- Its beautiful, engaging & a delight to play. I love my lil' cities Compares favorably to Anno 1800 base game in my opinion, hopeful the devs get a few seasons of DLC to build on it
