Anna - Extended Edition

i love obscure games and i had to force myself to try and finish this game- i couldn't fully. the controls, lack of direction, and forcing player to wait for trigger events with no warning (stand around for 5 mins before you can progress) ruin it.

Neanche ho potuto iniziare a giocare questo titolo! Ho provato anche a seguire una guida per capire se stavo facendo qualcosa di sbagliato dopo 40 minuti di stallo, purtroppo però è proprio il gioco buggato che non mi permette di andare avanti. Assolutamente sconsigliato.

TLDR at the end. I bought the game many years ago when it was on sale, after I watched a trailer that made it look interesting. It's not at all what I expected, and I didn't like it, but I think it's a good game of its genre. It's like an old graphic adventure (what's nowadays called "point & click") but in 3D. And you are alone, all the time. At least here the puzzles make some sense (unlike in games like Day of the Tentacle or Deponia), and they're easy to solve if you read the books and other documents you'll find along the adventure. Nice graphics for a 2013 game, interesting story (although there's A LOT to read) with many endings. I've finished it in about 4 hours, following a guide online, but it can be done in way less time. If you're into exploration (exclusively, only that, there's no other thing to do in the game) graphic adventures, this is your game. If not, don't even think about it; that was my mistake, but I can't say the game is bad itself. I used to love this game. Tried to play again but now it has a launcher that is completely bugged out and doesn't work.

Anna: Extended Edition is an obscure, forgotten horror title with mixed reviews that makes up for it's frustrating puzzles with it's mysterious, mythology oriented story that begs you to piece it together. Taking place in a simultaneously hallow & heinous abandoned sawmill in the Val d'Ayas, Italy, the game guides you through every nook and cranny of the building in order to show you the story of Anna... and the story of you. In here, you are a history teacher who got tempted to explore this forsaken & sacred place by the photos he found of this place, which bring him great pain, ache, and longing for someone he forgot long ago... In search of answers, he ventures the sawmill, having it upon himself to discover the roots of everything: The gods and goddesses, the symbols and the worship, the masks and the sacrifices, the rituals and the customs, those who came before him, and the price they paid for their temptation. So, as long as you're willing to put aside frustrating gameplay and a horrible 3rd party launcher (which... may or may not have a way around it), I'd highly recommend this to anyone who fancies everything I've been describing so far. 10/10 would say "would play again" but I keep playing it over and over and over - don't let my playtime fool you, I've been playing much, much, much longer than this
