Pretty good if a bit short. It can be a bit difficult to determine what are background or foreground elements in some areas.
Because of the way hit-stun applies to the player and the way player attacks are slow and their range is limited, it is easy to be overwhelmed by enemies when not taking a teasing laborious effort to dispatch them. Enemies however stay dead permanently, which encourages a troublesome pattern of backtracking through empty rooms to return to rare save points to record those enemies' deaths. The world in general is full of repetitive rooms with a lot of the same enemies again and again. The
Gear Engine
zone is especially troublesome to navigate due to a large number of instant death traps. The chunky and satisfying melee combat ends up being sold short by the game trying hard to supply you with ammunition so you don't really have to worry about it, but also through upgrades that make it even easier to ignore ammunition limitations.
Bosses do a particularly bad job at this, constantly providing ammunition to the player rather than finding a way to implement its unique melee combat.
The game also feels unfinished in places, with enemies whose attack patterns lack sound effects or place in the world. I found enemies in the
Angelholm
zone and
the War mother
seemed particularly out of place with attack patterns that don't threaten the player very well. I found the game's tone to be weirdly lackadaisical compared to the bleak art and setting. The characters have a weird camaraderie that is not well justified by your incredibly limited interactions with them. It's not awful, but it is regularly clumsy and often dull for its abundant enemies and rare save points.

Pretty great 3 hour metroidvania. Enjoyed it!
tried to play this but even with the steam input this piece of S was not cooperating.
Absolutly one of my favorate metroid like games, honestly a little janky/clunky but very fun even when it happens
A little rough around the edges, but worth the time i put into it. had a good time, i hope the devs keep making games.
Beautiful experience, short, sweet, visually unique, this is what games r about, man. My save got corrupted because I alt-tabbed in the very last biome, I’m not even mad. It’s a good excuse to replay the game in a couple of months. I feel bad that I got the game for only a dollar. If ur reading this review, get the game, it’s fun.
Mainly bought the game for the artstyle, beat it within 3hrs along with what I'm positive is seeing everything the game has to offer. I just can't recommend this in the state that it's in. Firstly, I lost an hour of progress because the game wouldnt load my save for reason after launching the game again. Everytime I launched it, I had to remap some buttons for my controller. The settings UI is horrendous as well. For some reason can't exit the game from the menu either. Melee seems more or less unnecessary, like I get that it's to mainly get ammo back but you only get it if you kill enemies using melee, so not really worth it with how weird some of the hitboxes are. Especially since the bosses just give you ammo if you run out. The story at the end and the final boss fall a bit short. Atmosphere, music and sound effects are the strong parts here. Especially the atmosphere. Overall: 4.5/10 (Average-ish)
