Eine bewegende Geschichte, die es auf faszinierende und gleichzeitig sehr ergreifende Art schafft, ein düsteres, aber auch wichtiges Thema anzusprechen. Das Storytelling ist gelungen, die Atmosphäre einnehmend, die Horrorelemente nett platziert, wobei der eigentliche Horror eher durch die grausige Realität der Erzählung kommt und weniger durch den Gruselfaktor der Mechanik als Solches. Ich persönlich hätte mir definitiv mehr Impact im Stil des ersten Abschnitts gewünscht, wo man tatsächlich in die Rolle eines Kleinkindes abtaucht, dass sich noch vor den langen Mänteln im dunklen Kleiderschrank fürchtet. Die Wunderland ähnlichen Auswüchse kamen... überraschend und hätten nicht unbedingt die Unschuld eines zwei Jahre alten Kindes gebraucht. Als jemand der aber selbst lang versucht hat der Realität so zu entfliehen, auch schon in wirklich jungen Jahren, kann ich nachvollziehen, was die Entwickler damit andeuten wollten. Das Game lässt mich definitiv mit gemischten Gefühlen zurück. Ist es sein Geld wert? Definitiv, nur... sollte man sich vorher darauf einstellen, dass es vielleicht nicht ganz ist, wie es scheint und dass es einen womöglich noch etwas länger begleitet, als die reine Spielzeit lang...

The story itself was pretty cool, its more of a sad story game rather than a horror as I didn't really find myself that scared. The story itself as it unravels though is kind of heartbreaking, and I appreciate the game for that aspect, but on a horror game level it doesn't really deliver. That isn't to say the game is bad though, I did enjoy most of my playthrough with it. My biggest gripe would be how buggy it can be, I had numerous issues despite less than 2 hours of gameplay. It's a pretty good game, but for under 2 hours of gameplay I couldn't justify a $17 cost. I would only get this game when it's on sale.

A deceptively simple first-person adventure horror game, where you play as a two year old child navigating the world. Movement feels a little clunky at first (realistic, given the character POV), but is easy to adjust to, once you get used to it. Unsettling and eerie, with just the right dose of whimsy and charm, Among the Sleep is a short, atmospheric game that hits you where you least expect it in terms of story. It's a great choice for players new to the horror genre that don't want anything too scary - there are no jump scares or true horror elements in the game - but the atmosphere, concept, and sound design make this one worth picking up, especially if it is on sale. Achievement hunters can complete this game in a few hours easily. The majority of the achievements come from picking up collectible drawings in each level. These do not need to be collected sequentially and any missing drawings can be picked up in chapter select, though you'll want to make sure that you pick up all collectibles before completing the prologue chapter that unlocks following your initial play-through of the story, otherwise, the achievment for collecting all drawings may bug and you'll have to replay the entire game.

Among the sleep is a game that can be truly terrifying, but also terribly poignant. The controls can be slightly jank, but never game-breakingly so, and the story is one that maintains the horror, bur leaves you thinking about the antagonist in an entirely new way! I especially enjoyed the commentary tracks on my second playthrough. 8/10, would 100% again!
