American Theft 80s ist gewiss kein fehlerfreies Meisterwerk und leidet ab und an unter einer etwas sturen KI und den typischen Sandbox-Macken. Wer jedoch über den Mangel an technischem Hochglanz hinwegsehen kann und das unbeschwerte Gefühl alter, etwas rauerer PC-Spiele vermisst, bekommt eine herrlich diebische Sandbox mit grandioser Atmosphäre. Die Texturen sind zweckmäßig, und manche Charakteranimationen wirken so steif wie eine Überdosis Haarspray aus besagter Ära. Aber für uns ältere Semester entfaltet das Spiel genau dadurch einen ganz eigenen, fast schon rührenden Retro-Charme. Es hat eine ungemein wohlige Anziehungskraft, nachts durch die Vorgärten zu schleichen, durch die Fenster klobige Röhrenfernseher zu erspähen oder einen klobigen VHS-Videorekorder mitgehen zu lassen. Wenn man dann eine fette Mikrowelle aus dem ersten Stock direkt in den Kofferraum seines kantigen Oldtimers verlädt, verzeiht man der angestaubten Technik so einiges.

Titel: Ein absoluter Fiebertraum – Wenn die KI ein Buch liest und du deshalb durch die Welt fällst! Rezension: Ich weiß ehrlich gesagt gar nicht, wo ich anfangen soll. Ich wollte eigentlich nur ein paar entspannte 80er-Jahre-Vibes genießen, Schlösser knacken und fette Beute machen. Stattdessen habe ich hier den wohl frustrierendsten und unlogischsten Software-Unfall der letzten Jahre erwischt. Selbst wenn man American Theft 80s mit ganz viel gutem Willen nur als Spin-off verbucht: Es ist und bleibt mit meilenweitem Abstand der absolute Bodensatz der gesamten Thief Simulator-Reihe. Da hilft auch der Nostalgie-Bonus nicht mehr. Das absolute "Highlight" an diesem Spiel ist das Zusammenspiel aus der völlig übertriebenen NPC-KI und der brokenen Physik. Die NPCs schießen hier nämlich den Vogel komplett ab. "Übertrieben" ist da noch extrem milde ausgedrückt. Man könnte meinen, diese Gestalten haben unbegrenzte Ausdauer – die mutieren zu absoluten Terminatoren, die einfach niemals müde werden. Das ist so dermaßen drüber! Und als wäre diese unendliche Kondition nicht schon nervig genug, setzen bei denen auch noch komplett die Synapsen aus: Die frieren mitten in der Bewegung wie angewurzelt ein, bleiben stur stehen und fangen dann einfach an, im Stehen ein Buch zu lesen oder irgendeinen anderen völlig unpassenden Kram durchzuziehen. Und jetzt kommt der eigentliche Witz: Genau in dem Moment, in dem die NPCs so strunzdumm in ihrer Animation feststecken, fängt die eigene Spielfigur komplett an rumzubuggen! Der Code kriegt wohl die absolute Krise, die Kollisionsabfrage verabschiedet sich und zack – man fällt einfach grundlos durch den verdammten Boden ins endlose, gähnende Nichts der Map. Der gesamte Fortschritt der Mission? Natürlich im Arsch. Man wird hier also nicht etwa erwischt, weil man schlecht schleicht, sondern man wird von der Physik bestraft, weil ein NPC mit unendlicher Ausdauer meint, mitten im Raum spontan einen Literaturzirkel zu gründen! Man weiß in diesen Momenten echt nicht, ob man vor Lachen vom Stuhl fallen oder vor Wut die Tastatur in der Mitte durchtreten soll. Dieses Spiel verhält sich nicht wie ein fertiges Produkt, sondern wie eine Alpha-Version, die nachts betrunken programmiert wurde. Es ist nervig, maßlos unfair und einfach nur broken. Werft euer Geld lieber direkt in den nächsten Gully – macht einen riesigen Bogen um diesen Haufen Elend und bleibt lieber bei den echten Teilen der Reihe!

well its more eazier then the theft simulator i liked it but theres alot of glitches and when collecting all golden vhs tapes theres a glitch that u cannot collect 20 and get stuck on 19/20 but over all this game is good

It has a solid concept, but it's not executed well enough. Reloading a save takes ages, tenants are extremely buggy, interacting with doors or windows can take ages, and the story is... lackluster to say the least.
