as the great detective adrian monk once said: word, word, everybody word. I can only echo his sentiment, and amazing pyramids: rebirth is definitely a good choice to word with. can't make any comparisons to the original, which seems to be a big fish-exclusive and I'd never heard of it before running into this. adventure mode is the main event. not much of a story, 55 levels, plus 7 optional jigsaws on the side every now and then. they don't even replace word game levels, just add some variety if you want (I didn't). most levels are pyramids, the game randomly picks one of the 120+ word categories, and you have to figure out what's the 9-letter word at the bottom, then the 8-letter one in another category, and so on, the last being a 3-letter word. no descriptions, no freestyling any old 9-letter fruit or whatever, just click on letters from the alphabet and see if they're there. it's basically hangman is what I'm saying, and words don't repeat until you run out. combos are a thing if you guess multiple letters in a row correctly, making no mistakes and finishing a word quickly are also rewarded, and a bit of extra cash is paid for any remaining letters after each word. unfortunately, money is just the local equivalent of points and can't be used for anything. vital energy is an actual resource, though not one with much use. it drains a bit after every selected letter, whether it's correct or not, and if there's some left at the end of an in-game day (i.e.: at the end of a level), bully for you. and more meaningless points. the stone of afterlight is a nifty thing, can be used as often as you like and at any point in the guessing process to enter the full word without using energy. you can change your mind, but if you're right, you'll get a random bonus. if you're wrong, the current word will re-roll with a new category and you lose some points. while money has no use, there are still power-ups that come in 4 flavors to reveal letters in a specific spot or all the vowels, or mark a few incorrect letters or replace the current category and word. they're collected by using the stone of afterlight and by solving words quickly and efficiently. adventure levels can't be replayed individually, which is a bit weird, except there's no resources to farm, you'll be swimming in power-ups soon enough, and why replay a specific level when they're all the same? well, almost, as themed levels have the same category for every word, while in others everything starts with the same letter. end-of-level animations can be skipped, always appreciated, you can even click while a category is being chosen to make it quicker, and mid-level progress is saved when you quit. sadly, scoring animations and some others are unskippable and pretty slow. manuscript mode unlocks by reaching level 7, the first manuscript in adventure mode. it's a timed game, have to recreate as many words from jumbled letters as you can in 3 minutes. you'll get a new set of letters after every word, and such levels during the adventure can be skipped. the biggest problem is, only one preset solution is accepted, so while sure should be a perfectly cromulent word, only user is accepted on that occasion. also, fancy animations waste precious seconds. shard mode unlocks by reaching level 13, the first shard in adventure mode. it's similar to manuscript, except here you have to create as many words as you can in 3 minutes, using the same set of letters. adventure levels like this can also be skipped. blitz mode unlocks after completing adventure mode. it's about decrypting a full pyramid without clues or power-ups, and there's a 100-turn limit provided by the vital energy meter. the stone of afterlight is still at your service. evidently, there's plenty of content and variety on offer, and it's presented with the usual casual game aesthetics. 4 dictionaries (english, german, french and russian), separate volume settings and toggles to get rid of annoying interjections while playing a level (cutscenes aren't voiced), and a useless windowed mode (non-resizable window without resolution options). online leaderboards for every game mode and in-game representation of achievements are also available. keyboard support would be great, typing instead of clicking, and ideally it'd extend to other areas of the ui, so it could be played completely mouse-free. toggles for certain animations would be welcome as well. other than these, it's an excellent word game. cool concept, looks and sounds good enough, can be as easy or difficult as you want it to be, and the price is reasonable as well.
Straightforward casual hangman-esque game where you are making your way around a map, one round at a time, with a handful of jigsaws thrown in. As you progress through the rounds you will unlock a couple of other mini word games (think Boggle). In most rounds you are guessing letters to find a word. The first word is 9 letters long, and the last is 3 letters. Most rounds will provide you with a category as a clue, but some rounds are themed - e.g. all words will start with the letter S, or all words are related to furniture. As you get correct answers you also build up some items that can help you reveal all vowels, uncover a chosen letter, remove incorrect letters from your pool, or reset the category for that word. If, at any point, you think you know the full word you can also hit a button to guess it, which leads to bonus points and extra item buildup. You can generally brute-force your way through the campaign as the cost of making a mistake is quite small; each mistake you make will reduce a vial which, if ever empty, will uninstall windows on your computer. I'm joking - I literally never saw what would happen if it ran out - it's that generous. Also the items stack - and carry over between rounds, so you can to some extent ration these out as you get to the last few levels to hammer through them. Alternatively, you can take your time and work things out. This was particularly fun with some of the geography-based questions (US States, capitals of the world, countries). Similarly, you may change your preferred letter order if you come a category related to science. At the time of writing I essentially have all the achievements except the time-related ones (play for 5, 10, 20 hours), which I'll probably just leave the game running in the background to unlock (yes I am sad and like achievements). The extra modes are modestly replayable, however two of them are quite punishing and rely on a bit of luck. These extra modes don't have any clues or categories, which makes it quite frustrating when you make a valid word using all the letters, but it's not the specific word the game is looking for (think elbow / below, or made / dame). Story/music/art are inoffensive, unobtrusive, and otherwise unremarkable - but hey we're here to puzzle/wordplay, right? My only other negative is that there are some elements which you can't hurry up or skip. This isn't a massive deal, I was just rushing the game and it slowed me down. Lastly, and very importantly; the devs were quick to patch the game to fix an issue that I was having - which is reason enough to give positive feedback in my book.
Guess words and unravel the secrets of ancient Egypt. Solve a pyramid with different categories and find the correct words. You'll start off with a nine letter word, and work your way up to a three letter word. The game also offers a few mini games, such as scrabble/shards or manuscript where you get a few letters and you have to make as many words possible within a certain amount of time or you can complete jigsaw puzzles You can play the relaxing adventure mode or battle it out against other players by beating their high-score to become number one on the global leader board. Overall, it's a great word game that looks good and can be both challenging and relaxing.
Very cool word game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grCKxVuA5Qw
I like this a lot. If you like word games, and especially Hangman, this is worth a look. It consists of a main game with 55 levels, plus 3 mini games. Each of the 55 levels consists of a pyramid of 7 words, from 9 letters down to 3. You're shown the category the word belongs to, eg Animals, Countries etc. After a few levels you start to accumulate 4 power-ups, which: Fill in one letter in the position you select; Fill in all the vowels; Knock out 5 unused letters from your alphabet selection; Discard the given word and give you a new word. You earn game points and power-up points from: Quick word completion; Making no mistakes after your first correct letter; Picking X-in-a-row letters without a wrong 'un; Guessing the word correctly before you have all the letters. The 3 mini games are: Guess the jumbled words put on screen, one at a time for 3 minutes; Make as many words as you can in 3 minutes from a random 12 letters; A pyramid without a category clue or power-ups. Very decent value for $7 imo.
Типичный таймкиллер с ачивками. Для тех, кто устал от "нормальных" игр.
It reminds me of Wheel of Fortune picking letters. It also reminds me of word searches. The game is alot of fun.
sehr nettes Spiel allerdings was mich stört das es Begriffe sind die falsch zugeordnet sind, dass man nicht drauf kommt...
