This game had so much potential but failed massively :/
I'm trying not to copy-paste the other negative reviews but they both summed it up perfectly.
This game has basically nothing to do with cats, but talks about them like it does, including a cat in the main image. Each cat you "find" (I say find, they aren't hidden, but neither is anything else) is an achievement. That's it.
The level unlocks make no sense. Completing Level 1 in literally any other game would unlock Level 2, but in this game it'll unlock a random level (not sure if it's random or a definite one, but either way it makes no sense). The "trying to be unique" thing doesn't really work when it makes no sense and adds nothing to the game.
You might see 108 levels and think wow, I might get a decent amount of gameplay out of this. Well you're wrong. There's only 12 rooms, so you repeat the same 12 rooms over and over. Other than a few differences, the items are in the exact same place. Going back to what I said earlier, this has got to be the most [i]unhidden hidden object game[/i] I've ever played. EVERYTHING is in plain sight, give or take a few things that might be under a chair, but being as you can look at the room from all angels (even underneath), and the fact that everything is in the same place every time, nothing is hidden at all.
Each of the 12 rooms has 9 different versions, which is basically just the same room but a different effect/objective.
- "Normal" mode which is just the room and a list of objects to find.
- "Normal" mode again, but the objects to find (which again, ARE THE SAME EVERY TIME) listed are just silhouettes rather than an actual picture.
- The same room(s) but in the dark, so you use your cursor as the flashlight to find the objects. This would probably be the best one out of them all if the flashlight actually worked properly.
- Rain effect, which basically turns the screen into a wavy filter effect which makes it harder to find the items. By harder I mean annoying.
- A RGB 3D effect thing, which just makes you feel like you're on LSD.
- Some weird-ass kaleidoscope effect.
- Inverted mode? Honestly no idea how to describe it, but it's like everything is black and white but changes slightly when you zoom in and out. Whatever you wanna call it, it's annoying.
Then there's the objective ones:
- Spot the difference - except one side is in black and white, why? Nobody knows.
- Spot the... same? You need to click on an object and its dupe of it.
I know hidden object games are basically just point and click, but this really was just clicking and nothing else. I could finish even the last few levels in about 15 seconds each. By the time you've done a few you can memorise which objects are the one's you need to find (being as it never changes), where they are and which objects are never on the list.
The only settings we get is a mute button, which doesn't even stay muted if you reload the game (yes, it scared the ♥♥♥♥ out of me the 2nd time I played). There's no mouse settings or any other quality of life settings which should just be standard for any game regardless of how much it costs. Talking of mouse settings, the controls are like some Sims 2 inverted mess that you'll never get used to.
Honestly, for £3.99 I would expect 108 different rooms, not the same 12 rooms multiple times. Damn I'd even accept the same room but different objects. Even at the 75% off I paid I still felt mugged off for the gameplay.
It's a shame really cause I was digging the style, and I love hidden object games, but yeah massively let down.
