I picked up All On Board! without many expectations and ended up using it more than I thought I would. It’s become an easy way to play board games in VR. Most of my time with it has been pretty casual. We usually jump in for a game or two and call it a night. Once you get used to the VR controls, everything feels comfortable and easy enough to use. It doesn’t try to play the game for you, which I actually like. I saw some older reviews mentioning bugs, but that hasn’t really been my experience. After the recent updates, everything has felt stable for me. I haven’t run into anything annoying or game breaking so far. The game catalog isn’t huge yet, but the games that are available feel well done, and the DLC prices seem fair compared to buying the physical board games. It’s obviously not the same as playing around a real table, but it works as an alternative. Overall, I’m happy with the purchase. It’s an easy app to come back to whenever I feel like playing board games in VR.
My favorite way to play board games. Smooth and comfortable interface (I particularly enjoy the "tooltips" you can trigger with a button, as well as the quick actions you can trigger with another). Handling cards and dice feels very tactile. The app only needs more games and modding support. I really hope they don't give up on development too soon, because this app has the potential to be the one standing VR platform to play board games (I used TTS before, but it's crap in that regard).
Fun and easy way to play board games in VR. The basics are well done and it feels comfortable to play, even for longer sessions. It’s a good starting point, and I’m mostly excited to see what new board games they bring to the platform next. Definitely feels like something that can grow into something even better.
Best boardgame feeling so far. If you like physical boardgames you will love this too.
Had the same issue as others where game didn't detect my controlers throw the SteamLink app, switched to the Meta Link app and it works wonders. Amazing platform to play tabletop with friends!!
In reading other reviews I didn't know what to expect regarding the controls, but the experience felt surprisingly smooth and not clunky at all (devs probably improved this). It's also way more immersive and cozy than I expected, you play inside custom environments for each board game and it does feel like you're around a real board game table.
