I really want to like this game, the art style is really appealing but the whole experience is complete slog to get through From repetitive music, unnecessary grind to pad out game time (do you really need 3 currency?), broken UI scaling and brain dead boss design (yes please give me boss that can spawn infinite minion that will turn him immune when you kill it and being able to heal on top of that) If you still want to try this game, wait for sale and speed it up 10x time because you will grind for a while
Oh, boy. I wanted to like this game. The character design is great and it looked interesting. But after the start, it gets boring really fast. Some fights are just really easy, and some are really hard without proper reason. There are a bunch of "heroes" to choose from. But the difference between them? Skill maybe? But difference between skills? Character levels are good for something too. Maybe they hit harder? It is just a mess. Tactics? Nah, you hit AutoBattle and watch a movie instead. Sad, but avoid this if your time is precious.
"Akumi Wars" is an anime turn-based RPG. It starts with a bang and keeps its pace with a crazy story and fully action packed battles! mind your leg! A progressively unlocking world with many stages. Upgrade, gear up, use runes, unlock or hire more party members and make your fortune! Let nothing get in your away! Kick it aside! ^^ The aesthetics are great and the story is very funny. It's not even sure if we or the villains are worse ^^ Prepare for some tough fights with awesome rewards; loot everywhere! If you are tired, you can use the auto battle system but be careful to not use it in a tough fight... We don't want to work retail! Variety of movements, good animations, nice music, funny dialogues, no lag and countless battles and loot! It's a bit slow to initially load, but after that, it runs smoothly. A big selection of guns, magic, runes, gear, etc to keep you on your toes for many hours. You won't be bored as you can mix and change your playstyle a lot. The voice acting is cool and cartoonish as well. Will you reach the ultimate goal?.. For more reviews, follow my curator https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44864435-Mewesome-Reviews/
A review copy was provided by the developer.

!!! Can’t recommended on the current version, since the game is crashing on the level 7 battle again Nyssa, when the boss is using his second attack (the game just close in my case)
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3203360930 General Review : 🔶 Akumi Wars is a RPG with unique artwork, high chance based on a mobile game 🔶
Graphics (7 / 10) :
The graphics are good, with his own design for characters / enemies & boss and battlefield. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3203366407
Gameplay (4 / 10) :
A rpg system, each heroes have a base attack, a powerful attack and a ultime attack, with some others types of skills, classic but work well. This rpg system can be skipped with the auto-run, and the game generally play better and faster that the player. Between battle, you can choice and upgrade your heroes in the base, and choice next mission on World Map. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3203361424 Multiples bugs, with the gamepad bug where you can move the cursor with the joypad, but not the mouse. And the main problem for me, the crash on this level 7 battle … (can’t play the rest of the game)
Price (5 / 10) :
Game cost 12 euros, and half recommended on the current state.
Story/Music/Optimization (3 / 10) :
The story is pleasant, multiples cinematics before a battle The Music is ok, but really generic and lack of some sound for in game battle Can’t recommended for the optimization, long waiting time for launching for a 2d game, many minor bugs and this death end bug at the level 7 battle again Nyssa
Final Note (4.5 / 10) :
🔶 Akumi Wars is a rip off of a gacha / mobile game, but with a really weak optimization and a bug that force close the game on a batlle, not recommended on current state 🔶 💚💚💚 : - Multiples heroes to collect (100 again the game files) - Level-system, and upgrade system / skills customization - Nice unique artwork ❌❌❌ : - These gacha look like really hard to get some heroes, with some items that cost way to much gold … - Really weak optimisaton (controller problem) - The crash problem on this level 7 batlle for my case
Follow IndieGems for more reviews like this one. Please follow United Critics for quality reviews
Good things.
I really liked the art style and hand drawn graphics in this game. It really reminds me of cartoons from my childhood. I even think that short animated videos in the game that are there to show you the story that is developing in the background are great. This game also has a good old humor from the times when the world was better and you were allowed to joke about anything without people getting triggered all the time. This games brings me back to old times when we have been playing the good flash games that were made by single developers with love for the gaming industry that wanted to show everyone their ideas and gather feedback for their next projects. There are many heroes to pick from to build your team and you can customize them with different extra skills and items and runes so I’m sure there are multiple different builds that people will use to beat the game with. I found myself using certain skills and items for as long as I was not loosing fights and after I lost I was changing skills and runes and items around. There is a deep system of customization here thus extra skills that your heroes will use and runes and items will just reflect what type of gamer you are and how you play games and will be probably totally different from someone else using the same heroes.
Hero Wars Lite?
I can’t shake the feeling that it was intended to be a mobile gacha game and was developed as such. There is even a button for autocombat just so you would not have to pick the skills you want to use and enemies you want to attack yourself like in typical gacha games. But the funny thing is autocombat is so broken and bad that I think that the game just randomly picks what skill to use and when because I saw the game healing a hero that had full HP or using defensive skills when there was only the last enemy left with like 5% HP that would die from any hit. There are 3 different currencies in game that you need to farm and while money are the most useful because you need them for everything the second one that were blue blocks I was also using while I never did use the third currency that were some mechanical parts. You will need money to buy items from shop but because you can see max 5 items in shop at a time and you have to wait 30 minutes to see new items you will just use the blue blocks currency just to refresh the shop all the time to find anything that you are really interested in and anything that can you help defeat bosses because there will be some bosses and enemies that you will get stuck on because they use certain mechanic and you need to use certain skills and passives to counter them and if you won’t you will simply lose. Like for example you either need a paladin in your team or some special skills that will stop undead enemies from constantly resurrecting themselves after they die. Some heroes that will join you will fight in your team for free, others will need to be paid money for any fight they will be used in and some of them will need the blue blocks as payment instead of money and that means – you need to farm if you want to use these heroes because even the end game fights were giving me like 800 blue blocks but many heroes required to be paid 1000 or more blocks for a single combat. And some heroes that were just different types of turrets required the machine parts to be recruited but I never bothered using them because with how many different heroes you get in this game you will not even use half of them and turrets will probably be at the bottom of your list in usefulness together with some heroes that I don’t even know why game gives you as rewards while they are much weaker than the ones you are using. The heroes have different number of stars from 1 star to 5 stars and that influences how much stats they get for each level up and how many extra skills you can give them as equipment. This makes any hero that is not 4 or 5 stars pretty much useless and a waste of time to use in combat because you don’t want to waste any XP on them as they will always be weaker than other heroes. Also another sight of this game being developed as gacha game is that when you find skills and items and runes you need to use special upgrade function that works like a different type of shop where you have to use money and blue blocks currency to upgrade a few weaker skills into a single stronger then you need a few stronger to upgrade them into another stronger one etc. Some of the skills you will have to upgrade only like 2 times to get the max level of that skill or item that they create while others you will upgrade like 5 times but in the end it is all a waste of currencies and your time just like combining runes with each other for a chance to get a better rune because it is much better to use blue blocks currency in the best shop in the chapter you are in to reroll that shop and get the skills and items and runes you want that are already upgraded to max or nearly max level thus saving you a lot of blue blocks currency in the process. Like rerolling a shop can cost max 50 blue blocks currency while combining some items or runes will costs you 200+ for a single upgrade making it much easier and cheaper to just buy upgraded skills and items and runes.
Bad things.
There are also bad things about pure gameplay sadly. There is no info about any of the enemies so you don’t know what skills they can use and what passives they have so without a trial and error you will not know what types of damage to use against someone or if you should even attack them or attack someone else first and leave them for last. Also there is no info about the % of block, dodge and counter that your heroes have anywhere and because of that you don’t know if it will be a good idea to give +20% dodge chance to one of your heroes or a skill that does something when you block to the other one etc. There were many fights where I didn’t even know why I did lost or why I did win this time. I used the same heroes and the same skills in the same order on the same enemies and an enemy was able to kill 3 out of 4 of my heroes at the same time but when I replayed that combat now I was able to kill 3 out of 4 enemies at the same time. Also some fights were unwinnable because the enemies are randomly picked form a pool and I got 3 enemies that were constantly knocking down my team but replaying the same fight gave me only 1 enemy like that and now the fight was easy. Also I still don’t know why some basic attacks of my heroes hit only 1 enemy 4 out of 5 times but sometimes hit all 4 enemies dealing massive damage to them – skills description says nothing about this. Enemies also can be immune to certain debuffs but you will never know it as the game will tell you they are immune only after you used a skill thus making you waste your turn. There are also cheap mechanics like enemies that you killed becoming invincible for a few turns and healing back to full or resurrecting themselves. If you are not stuck on a combat encounter you will not know what new enemies do that so you can often waste your ultimate skill just to see that enemy in fact didn’t die and now will bombard your team for next few turns and if you don’t have special skills that remove all buffs from enemies you can do nothing about that. This game tries to be a tactical RPG without providing you all the info you would need to make good tactical decisions. This game sadly feels more like Hero Wars but lite version without the adds and P2W shop.
Conclusion
It feels like a typical gacha game that is somehow on Steam and not on your smartphone but at least there is no P2W shop. Overall score 4/10
I thought this was a mature game. Actually, it's filled with cringey sex jokes. Feels like it was made for zoomers at the age of 15.
O que gostei:

Arte Visual
Diversidade dos personagens
Mecânica simples
Vídeos de animação (cutscenes)
O que NÃO gostei:

Alguns chefões são ridiculamente difíceis e quando estão quase morrendo recuperam a vida toda
Trilha sonora repetitiva e enjoativa
História pouco envolvente
Falta de localização para meu idioma
I have been a supporter since it was a tower defense game. I am a moderator for the playtest server. I am a backer. So I may be a bit biased. Its a really fun game. It can get real difficult but I still love it.
Love the character design, fun causal gameplay. Its great to just grind while watching something in another monitor.
