Wéko The Mask Gatherer

A cute action adventure RPG that is adorable and great fun to play! My only feedback was that there were a couple of QoL changes that could be implemented: It would be great to have a way to pause the game (because going into the menu you can still be attacked) and not having the option to pause a singleplayer game when someone rings the doorbell gets a touch annoying. It would be amazing if there was some reminder notes of some of the quests - even if its just some basic notes like '[person] in [location] asked for [item]' so that it makes it easier to remember when you find some of the side quest items!

I want so bad to like this game. The art style is super charming. and the inspiration behind it can be seen and felt, and the love and passion put into it are obvious, but this just wasn't for me. The shield system is done well, the music is solid, but the game felt more and more repetitive for me as time went on, and the combat was lacking in weight and variety. I wish there was a more middle ground option, because it is by no means a bad game, but it missed the mark a bit too much for me.

Wéko evoked memories of older games on the Playstation or Nintendo 64 from so long ago. It has engaging puzzles and a fascinating story. I enjoyed exploring the world and the discovery of collectibles and masks. This is a nice little game that clearly draws some inspiration from the Legend of Zelda series. If you like those games, you will probably like this one as well. The gameplay consists of light puzzle solving, mini quests, and combat. There are multiple bosses and mini-bosses. The story is decent, but the second half of the game seems rather rushed, and you get some of the masks for the main quest without a fight. Combat is also not as polished as I would like. There is no easy way to switch between targets when locked on, and Weko takes far too long to get back up when hit, often resulting in him taking additional hits. Overall, however, the game is enjoyable and I would recommend it.

This is the perfect game to play on a rainy or snowy weekend (or actually, in any kind of weather ;)* + The world-building is really well done. The music, animation, environment, characters, and VFX.. are all great. + gameplay is gooood + The adventure is enjoyable, and the story becomes more and more surprising as you progress through the game. + The difficulty is well-balanced—neither too easy nor too hard. (If you're here for the Souls-like aspect, be aware that the game is way easier than any Dark Souls.) + The puzzle elements are fairly light but are a welcome addition to add some variety to the gameplay. + I didn't encounter any annoying bugs (which is worth mentioning, as it's not the case for all games). - Sometimes, certain activities can feel a bit repetitive, but honestly, nothing too bothersome. - Combat can occasionally feel a bit all over the place, especially when there are many different enemies, but this doesn’t happen often. "This game is, of course, not for everyone, but if you think you might like it, go for it"

10/10 do recommend fun story, fun fights, good game to 100% without feeling like a task.

I really enjoyed my time with Wéko especially because of the influences from old N64 Zelda adventures OoT and MM! Also, I threw the masks into the fire. 10/10
