Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 10.43/day in the week to Aug 23 → 14.29/day in the week after.
Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
You are the Viceroy – a leader charged by the Scorched Queen to reclaim the wilderness and discover lost riches for the Smoldering City, civilization's last bastion against the Blightstorm that destroyed the old world. Unlike most survival city builders where your focus is on a single city, in Against the Storm you must build a vast, prosperous network of settlements populated by diverse fantasy races, each with their own specializations and needs.
The wilderness holds many hidden dangers, and never-ending storms will batter your population into submission. If your settlements should fall, then the expedition may end – but not the game. Against the Storm is a roguelite city builder, meaning you will carry forward the resources, upgrades, and experience of your past expeditions each time you set off for a new journey into the wild.

Foxes, beavers, and lizards stand alongside humans and harpies in the struggle to survive. Utilize each group's strengths as you balance their varying needs, from housing and culinary preferences to taste in luxuries and recreation. Will you manufacture raincoats, brew ale, and bake pies to boost morale in the face of the oppressive hostility of the forest, or will you prioritize the needs of one species over another to operate more swiftly for the Scorched Queen?

Experience core city builder gameplay enhanced by roguelite replayability. Build and manage multiple settlements spread out across a large world map, all while collecting valuable meta-progression resources to upgrade the Smoldering City. Feel the pressure of an expectant monarch as the Scorched Queen demands constant progress while recurring Blightstorms pose an inevitable threat to your settlements. Manage your reputation to secure your success at any one settlement before moving on to establish another, constantly seeking new opportunities for growth, taking on unique challenges across multiple biomes, and bracing for the inevitable destruction of everything but the Smoldering City itself. How will you maximize each cycle to not just ensure the best fate for the Smoldering City, but for your career as Viceroy as well?

With hundreds of gameplay modifiers and 6 distinct biomes, every city location presents unique challenges for even the most resourceful Viceroy. Adjust your strategy to changing weather conditions and experiment with rosters of building blueprints and perks that can help your society thrive or bring it to ruin. Will you take on and complete additional objectives and delve deeper into the dangerous forest for potential boons, or will you approach with caution to ensure you operate within your capabilities? All the while, you never know what wares the Trader will bring next year, and the forest holds treasures and resources, but also ancient threats.

Laying the foundations for a new city is one of the most exciting moments in a city-building game. In Against the Storm, you'll have the opportunity to repeatedly experience this by creating new settlements, while still interacting with your network of previously established cities in a growing world.

Looks like builder, but it a puzzle game
Base-building made fun when you focus more on the first few moments of starting a settlement without the slog of playing on for hours over multiple sessions, when you've probably forgotten what was going on. If you like CiV but never finished a single round, or found Warcraft or Warhammer a bit of a slog, this game is for you!
灰常上头
Lovely, relaxing game with a great non-grating soundtrack. Bit of a learning curve, but not too bad.
Rogue Like city builder with lots of replayability. Super fun!
In theory Against the Storm should be an easy recommendation - it's a well-structured rogue-like with an interesting world and systems and is backed up by a solid soundtrack and graphics. Those are all pretty big positives and shouldn't be ignored. However, your enjoyment of AtS is likely to come down to your enjoyment of the main thing it claims to be - is it a good city builder? My answer to that is: I don't actually think so. Certainly, if you were coming into this as a fan of the Impressions series or even a more modern take like Tropico or Frostpunk, AtS is absolutely not that. Instead AtS asks you to construct multiple settlements expanding across the map to a final seal map, starting afresh each time and all needing to be done within a set period of ingame years that is shared from settlement to settlement. Winning on the easiest seal challenge asks you to complete all of your settlements before the final one within 40 years. The second-easiest within 48 years. The third within 56 years, etc., etc. At the same time, you are gated from going in too much of a straight line to end objective settlement by needing to have a certain number of seal fragments before you get there, which can be obtained by completing settlements and certain optional challenges and events. Broadly, the game isn't so much about building a city as it is railroading you into building the minimum possible to just win a map as fast as you can and then repeat that multiple times in a row. You can spend the extra time building an interesting or expansive city, it's just almost never optimal and the game disincentivises you doing so. I don't feel that the rogue-like aspect actually helps that. The way you win a map is by accruing a certain number of points, which mostly come from making your population happy or completing side objectives. There are a huge number of possible variations on the buildings you can be offered to enable that objective, but there are so many that you may never see a particular one on a given map and some of the options are going to be useless (e.g. a type of farm on a map that has no farming) so after a while you're again getting railroaded into similar tactics each time if you want to win (e.g. take the first applicable service building that makes your population happy and just build towards that) and, despite that possible depth in variation, it somehow ends up feeling repetitive after a while. With all of that said, if you're looking at this as a fan of rogue-like games and that's what's interesting to you, I think there's plenty of game to run at for its price before it will start to get stale. If you like the idea of starting completely fresh with a settlement each time and having to do the same thing slightly differently over and over, there's a lot to like here. It's just not that fun if you're looking at it as the thing it's being advertised as first and foremost - a city builder.
