Got for the nostalgia, plus I never got to see the ending as a little kid. Made me happy to complete a little part of my childhood. For anyone who wants to buy this though, I would wait for it to go on sale like I did. If you have the time, the game could take maybe an hour and a half (My gameplay took multiple days because I wanted the experience to last longer)? If you like simple hidden objects games, check this one out on sale, otherwise, it's not worth it. Tldr: Only buy this on sale if you like quick hidden object games.
A neat little HOG, I would say average. Some of the items were super hard to find though and I needed the hint tool, like dang I never would have found some of them.
Finished this back in the day. Its fine - nothing special and rather bland.
Adventure Chronicles: The Search for Lost Treasure is a hidden object game where you search around the world and solve puzzles for profit and money. The graphics are fixed, low resolution, and display stretched 4:3 in fullscreen, despite the game being released on Steam in 2012. The hidden object part is so/so. There's a hint system but it doesn't always work (if something is hidden inside something else, for example, it won't help you, so you can be stuck without help). The $7.50 price tag for a 2012 game with no widescreen support is terrible, you can get more modern, way better hidden object games for less.
Couldn't play this game on my pc, so advise that you check straight away so you can get a refund. It looks like it might be ok, but the windowed mode that I finally got to work is about an eighth of my screen and is too tiny to play. Uninstalling, very disappointing.
Thumbs down! This game is over ten years old and there are glitches when running it under Windows 10. It didn’t work fullscreen, only in a windowed mode. This is a big drawback for a hidden object game (HOG) since it makes the hidden objects much harder to spot. However, some objects were not hidden fairly and would not be visible even in fullscreen. Another negative is that the game does not have any achievements or trading cards. The store page shows the release date as 2012, but I think that was when it was released on Steam. The game itself was originally released in 2008. Nowadays, HOG’s are usually a mix of a point and click adventure, finding hidden objects, and an assortment of mini-games. This game was almost entirely finding hidden objects. One gimmick is that there are tools to use: a hammer, a brush, and a lighter. Some objects aren’t obtainable until the dust is brushed off, or their container is smashed. This isn’t a bad gimmick by itself, but the hitboxes were often too small. In addition, the hint system won’t find items that haven’t been revealed yet, so looking for some items becomes a game of “find the hotspot”. The story isn’t too bad. The main character is an archaeologist who goes treasure hunting after she receives a journal from a mysterious stranger. The journal indicates a few starting places for each treasure hunt and there are five different treasures to find. Once enough clues are found, an additional place will become available. This part was disappointing though, because the clues are not an actual puzzle. Instead, they are automatically solved in a cut-scene. Final verdict. This game may have been okay when it first came out, but it hasn’t aged well.
Good game
Yes.
Fun enough to play when you get familiar to very low resolution, 800x600 iirc.
