I was really excited to try this game out and see how it covered the topic of mental health but I have to say I am nothing but disappointed. I found the story to be quite disorganised and thrown together throughout the game, with no clear message or storyline throughout the game. I found the jabs at gaming very strange (given this is a videogame). I also found the several mentions of the main charecter being a straight white male very strange. The gameplay is very basic, basically a visual novel. Finally, the ending... So plain and obvious (without spoiling) All in all, I just have no idea what this game is trying to be or who it is for, and despite the cheap price I cannot reccomend this game at all.
Actual Sunlight is one of those short experiences that lingers long after the screen goes dark. It doesn’t try to entertain you in the traditional sense. Instead, it quietly, honestly explores the crushing weight of loneliness, depression, and the feeling of being stuck in a life that never quite turned out the way you hoped. As someone living with a permanent spinal cord injury, parts of this hit uncomfortably close to home. Even with a loving partner and child, the darkness the game talks about is very real, and it captures that internal struggle with brutal honesty. There’s no melodrama, no cheap twists, just a raw, human story told in a way that feels painfully authentic. It’s short, simple, and not for everyone. But if you’re willing to sit with something heavy for an hour or so, Actual Sunlight is a powerful reminder that games can tell deeply personal stories that matter.

Beautiful, agonizing experience. So often felt like a story written about my own pitiful life, all that was missing was the crippling dependency on substances to do literally anything, from feeding myself to leaving my home to falling asleep. I frequently just stared at the paragraphs and laughed heartily at the absurdity of having internal monologues I'm so familiar with spelt out to me. Made me simultaneously glad and infuriated I live in the country, far from all the tall buildings. It would be easy...so easy....just fall....
I truly regret spending what little money I did on this.
This is short, it has an outcome that is unavoidable no matter what the player decides, and is no more than guiding the protagonist from one encounter to another. Have I lost you yet? Hope not. Becuase what makes this game is it's honesty, having a depiction of depression that has never been seen before in this medium. It may not be a crowd-pleasing title but it a brave title nonetheless
This game kept making me feel like it was more pretentious then deep. Finally just stopped as the rather meandering monologues just got boring after a bit.
毫无代入感,还是给死肥宅玩吧
i recommend it, its great short game. it shows how being lonely is hard and how u can easily get into wrong train of thought. i wasnt expecting things to end up like that but it sure has a message for people who are struggling.
