Active Neurons is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as a cheap, lazy cash grab. It's a basic mobile app puzzle of the sort they used to make in Adobe Flash. You can swipe on your phone screen to move in any of the four cardinal directions, but you keep moving until you hit something. Puzzles are solved by choosing the correct sequence of arrow keys to press, and that's all there is to this mobile app. The simple web/mobile app gameplay is coupled with equally lazy minimalist "art", locked resolution and controls and a basic mobile phone tier interface, all far below standards for a PC game. The developer makes the highly spurious inference in their sales blurb here and on the Apple store that this game can prevent Parkinson's disease. It's highly unethical to make those kinds of bogus claims, but then what should we expect from someone who thinks it's okay to dump mobile apps on Steam and call them "games"? Once more we see greedy mobile devs trying to screw over PC gamers. On Steam, this is $3 USD, on app stores, it's $2 USD. Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay a 50% premium for a crappy bundle worsening mobile game so they can pretend their gaming rigs are iPhones.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developer claims the sales blurb for this mobile app doesn't contain any inferences about Parkinsons, but then if you go read it, it obviously does. It's a definite inference, as I mentioned, and not a confirmed claim, but that's besides the point. Why would the developer mention Parkinsons at all if that wasn't their intention? Weasel words from the developer trying to look less dodgy aside, reviews are about games and not developers and their shady sales practices. As I've already mentioned, this is a mobile app and has all the deficiencies and compromises that are made to cater to mobile app peasants, and thus doesn't meet the expected levels of quality for a true PC game, so I can't recommend it. My review stands.
It's visually pleasing and the initial puzzles are quite fun, but from the third level onwards, it requires quite a bit of dexterity. Unfortunately this means that people who lack dexterity (e.g., due to disabilities) will either have a very difficult time with it, or be unable to play it at all.
Ever played an adventure game that featured the marble and squares puzzle? You rotate a game board with a series of cubes, forcing the marble to fall onto specific platforms until you finally get it through a hole on the board. This game is sort of like that—except you can DIE! And there are no marbles. The Good:

The game is actually challenging. It's not just the marble-and-squares-game-but-without-the-marble-and-holes game.
Yes, it fits in the minimalist category, but unlike other minimalist games, effort still went into the visuals. The stars in the background even twinkle. Do you know how many AAA games I've played in recent years that don't even have twinkling stars at night? Shameful.
Store space milk in your snowflake flask.
Careful! You can die in this puzzle game. Obstacles--deadly, ensnaring, looping, and otherwise--are all around.
You can use mouse or keyboard.
Make cube friends along the way
and sometimes murder them
.
Larghetto space piano music. Maybe even a little adagio.
The Neutral:

120 levels.
The Bad:

People overlooked this game and it's still limited. Stop doing that.
If you're fascinated by squares moving along straight paths, or ever wondered what a one dimensional puzzle platformer might look like, you may be somewhat interested in this. If you like challenging puzzle games that add new gimmicks as you progress, then you'll be more interested in this.
The best and most soothing puzzle game I've played so far. Moderately challenging - not to the point of frustration. Great mechanics, concept and music too. I wish the latest instalments were available on Linux.
This is the ice floor pokemon gym puzzles expanded into a whole game, if you were into those then you'll be into this
Outstanding, challenging casual puzzler from an outstanding publisher.
Elementary, my dear Watson
Dobře zatočí závity...
Огонь!!!
