Slowburn
Very fun, and very unique Puzzle game. The whole game is built around an unconventional movement system where you're made to collide with obstacles in order to stop moving. This creates a bunch of unique problems, which Slip 'n Slime is all too happy to build levels around. Solving each was a joy, doubly so as the levels tend to build on one another, so the tricks that you learn can be applied throughout the entire game. It also introduces a bevy of new mechanics throughout the 111 levels, which immediately get layered upon one another to wring all of potential out of each idea. Easy to play, smartly designed, fun to solve. What more do you want from a Puzzle game? More at: https://frostilyte.ca/2025/10/30/scootin-up-success-slip-n-slime-review/
What an absolutely delightful package. Though sliding puzzles aren't usually my jam, this game does such a wonderful job of easing you in without overburden. Admittedly, I've also fallen for the charm offensive, as the vibes, animation, and music (including that jazzy porn track) are just so chill and pleasant. The key thing to note here, for any developers, is the slime trail. Whoever came up with that little innovation is a genius. It's always hard to "visualize" the solution to sliding puzzles, and this little feature gives the puzzles so much more cerebral tactility. Though there's only 111 levels, the real number is larger, closer to 300, as most levels are really a collection of smaller, self-contained puzzles. But there's also some grand, single-puzzle levels, and those tend to be the most fun and challenging. This game is a blast to play.
Delightful engaging simple puzzle game.....one of those ones that's hard to put down. Unfortunately, the way it's set up, generally blocking progression until you solve (most) puzzles in a linear order, you'll be stuck w/ a brick of a game if you get stumped by one of the puzzles (w/ no online walkthrough available so far as near as I could find). Luckily for me, I eventually could not solve puzzle 61, but luckily it was one of the special puzzles that let you bypass it and onto 62. I got stuck again on puzzles 107 (got a pass again) and then 109, and am now blocked. I got my money's worth, but if I had gotten stumped at one of the earlier puzzles......the rest of the game which I paid for would be unavailable. Also, the random crashing that others have mentioned was biting me as well, and gets really annoying later in the game when solutions are complex affairs over several sections, often requiring over an hour worth of head scratching. Feel bad giving the fun little game a dis......but this is such an easy thing to fix and I'm surprised that the devs didn't either allow you to bypass puzzles or had saw to it that an online walkthrough was available.
Pretty good! I liked it a lot. The first thing that comes to mind is the music. The soundtrack is mostly good, with one GREAT track, and it changes up often enough to stay fresh. The levels have a lot going on, with all sorts of little areas off to the side that really show off the aesthetic they're going for, rather than big, boring blank spaces (and maybe they could fool some players into trying to follow paths that can't be followed?). They also have these nice transitions that tend to give you reminders of mechanics you might be about to see in the next area, or just give you a fun area to traverse at high speeds with no real obstacles, and cleverly-placed checkpoints you can't possibly miss. Mechanics include: spikes that can hurt you, holes you can fall into, blocks you can push around to give yourself something solid to hit so you can reach things you wouldn't ordinarily be able to, the ability to push blocks into holes so you don't fall in, grates that cut you up and shrink you (or that you fall into like a hole if you're already shrunk), paths that you can't enter if you're already shrunk, bits of slime you can use to regrow yourself to full size, keys you can only carry when you're full size, cracks in the floor that become holes when something big enough slides over them, and walls that lower when you hit them in the right spot with a key. The levels hit every possible note with these and combine them in every possible way. I can really only think of a few things I can ding Slip 'n Slide for: it's too easy. There are some tricky ones, but Slip 'n Slime spends way too long before getting to them. I think I was 60 or 70 levels in before I hit anything that really felt like a challenge. Also, while the art is cute, it could use improvement. The character portraits you get as rewards for completing certain paths entirely are especially amateurish. Last, there are no achievements, and no special reward for getting every single puzzle. I was thinking it would send me to a special screen or something, but nothing like that happened. A little disappointing. There are some other, minor issues, too. For one, it shows lines between tiles sometimes in windowed mode. This doesn't happen in fullscreen, though. For another, the main character is clearly a different resolution than everything else in the world, with most things having huge pixels in comparison. This was pretty jarring once I noticed it. Also, the last level kept crashing for me when I would hit the Restart key, and it had a graphical issue where any holes I filled with stone blocks would look like they were still full when I hit Undo. I didn't notice this happening on any other level, though, and it seems like the dev team keeps up on bug fixes, so I'm sure this will be handled. These are just nitpicks when you consider how much fun I had with this, but it does contribute to the amateurish feel that I get from some of the art. It's a great game if you don't mind slogging through a lot of easy stuff to get to the good stuff, and some of the other rough edges that can come from a small team of indie devs. And if you do mind? It's still pretty good.
I played almost 40 levels, and didn't encounter any challenge nor any surprise. Utterly boring. It's so nice and polished I really wanted to like it. Also I love Sokoban games in general, and I typically struggle when the sliding mechanics come up. I really didn't expect to have 0 challenge from a game like this. You know the joy in puzzle game of those eureka moments? Exactly 0 in 2 hours with this game. I'm sure asking for a refund and not seeing half the game I'm depriving me of the best part but if there's a best part, as a developer you can't afford to stack it in the end. I'm sorry, I hate asking for refunds, but this game made me really mad.
Slip N Slime is a super chill easy to get into fun game with extremely intuitive tutorials, teaching moments, and gameplay in general. I love how it can be easily enjoyed by people of all ages! It has beautiful art, polished and crisp gameplay, awesome level design :))), and great sfx/music to compliment it all. I guarantee anyone who enjoys puzzle games will enjoy SnS, the first half of the game is a nice intro that offers challenge but the latter half has some levels as long as just the first half!!
Really enjoyable if you like relaxing puzzle games in this genre. Starts out very easy, but starts to become maddeningly challenging towards the end. It's the type of game where if you're feeling overly frustrated, put it down and come back to it 2 days later, and you'll go "wow, I can't believe I didn't see that solution before." Really challenges your think outside the box skills. Art and music are great, well-balanced sections of the puzzles with restart points too. I never felt like I unfairly lost progress on a puzzle when I needed to do a full restart.
