Absence of Light feels like an asset flip or prototype, not something I would ever buy or recommend to buy. Looking at the update history, after a pause, it received four small bugfix updates in the last two weeks. I can't find any information on planned features or substantial changes. Listing so many issues in this form feels harsh, but I don't see a way around it. I grouped them by themes. Unfortunately, I don't have anything positive to say in a product review context. The negative points are dominating. I'd be more supportive in a personal game dev context, but that's not what this is about. - No introduction, no tutorial - You'd better open the main menu help first, or you won't even know how to control your character, or understand what the game mechanics and possibilities are - You better use a gamepad, or be crippled without knowing of the alternative - Fullscreen and Borderless Fullscreen do not catch the mouse cursor, meaning a second monitor can make you lose game focus - Clicking continue on first launch places you after the intro, not at the start of the game - There is no save system; death means losing all progress since entering the level, and closing the game means losing all progress - Horrendeous mouse camera control; seemingly dependent on camera distance (near walls) and walking direction; while W walking way too high sensitivity, while A walking sideways way too low sensitivity ( - The Controls settings page shows no input controls at all - The help menu explains gamepad controls, but for keyboard, it only lists keys without explaining what they do - The help menu is not accessible in-game - Interactables need to be too close to interact - Hit indicators show even when the enemy is already dead - You can walk on top of enemies, or enemies on top of you; in both cases, it's practically impossible to hit each other - The first "quest" is to collect gems that randomly pop up and are placed randomly without any counter of how many you already have, so you don't know when you have enough - Combat seems to revolve entirely around spamming attacks and stunlocking the enemy, and for bosses to do the same while occasionally evading or repositioning - Enemy strength and threat are completely unclear to me; their damage is often insane, but they typically get stun-locked - Confusing enemy sounds; I thought it was them walking, but also sounds like attacking; they just always do the same sound, all of them, at all times, it seems - Health potions percent recovery doesn't seem to match health pool; I assume it may be the original health pool without leveling up; quite confusing if you want to recover health later on, or in combat (game does not pause while in inventory) - Level layouts seem confusing, with dead ends and narrow corridors hindering your camera view - You have to find and collect keys to proceed (four keys to traverse a white mist; makes no sense) - Funny walk animation - Crazy jump height and animation; it would make more sense for a slow armored knight not to be able to jump like that, especially considering the recovery time, roll distance, and recovery, etc - Camera can clip through walls (not a big issue) - Generic, loud "standard" sounds that don't fit the elements - Sounds are played from the correct direction, but not distance - Pretty bad music loop; the track would have been fine if it were less prominent and looped better; I have no idea why the music came from a direction, making me think it indicates something, but it never changed loudness with distance Maybe this is personal preference, but I never get why the default Steam Controller configuration in pretty much all games with camera controls defaults to the swiping controls. As it is, you can rotate the camera a minuscule amount with a swipe. It makes no sense to me. Only after switching to a normal gamepad configuration, where I can use the right trackpad as a joystick and hold it to continuously rotate, is it viable. Maybe this is something for Dark Souls enthusiasts? I don't know enough about Dark Souls for such an assessment. For me, it was confusing and lacking. Absence of Light is a game without guidance and overall barebones. If you are fine with no save states, barebone combat with punishing damage, a need to search levels, where you explore and discover stuff yourself, it may be worthwhile.
ANÁLISIS DE ABSENCE OF LIGHT:
Yet one asset flip. - camera is terrible, there is no target lock - the world is flat and empty, everything is made of assets - enemies either just stand or attack you without motion animation - series of hits not register, only 1 hit from 3 - there is a shield, but no ability to block - no any rpg system, only auto lvling - when you die, ALL doors close and you have to look for the keys again, you need a lot of keys every 5 meters. https://youtu.be/n64jJfV8MhQ
Where do I start? Steam reccomannded me this game in my que, and it was cheap. Indie games have always been something I liked trying, and this was no different, but the main reason was not increadible storyline, game mechanics or the world itself - It was simply about how unprepared and unbaked this game was, which made me laugh out loud. So, Let's start with the basics: Assests such as enviroment and buildings feel as if they are just thrown randomly. Also, the ghost at the beginning simply tells you "TOWER! IN TOWER THERE IS TREASURE!" which is pretty much what devs do in early prototyping before adding story elements. This is excluding the weird character selection (at least I think it was) where you're pretty much a floating camera that needs to enter a door. It took me a while to realize that's how you start the actual adventure. And what about UI? Well, the jumping animation doesn't reset instantly after you hit the ground, so you could basically bunny-hop on one leg while the rest of your body is a statue. if you drink potions, your health can go beyond its maximum capacity, and when you level up, the changes only happen AFTER you go to another area. There are also a lot of missing text that just feel like the developers were lazy to add. The shields have no information on them whatsoever, and potions say "50% health" and such. You could maybe add the small "restore" or "drink to receive" you know? Oh, and sorry for whoever made the walking animation, but it looks like a hunchback running with its anus sewed. Ignoring the enemy AI that walks like a turtle and barely has any good way of learning their attack pattaerns (you also mostly climb on their heads since their collision box is also horrible). The main reason why I didn't keep playing is because it doesn't even save your progress. I beat that vermillion boss (who has the same patterns all the time and basically freezes for 5 seconds after you hit him) And then I closed the game. What happened when I pressed continue? I was at the beginning, with the only thing that was saved was my level. Weapons, keys, progress - All gone. I uninstalled the game after that. Also, "you are THE humanity last hope". Please, get grammer right... Overall I laughed quite a lot, but in terms of playing a game to enjoy mechanics and story - I'll stick to other souls-like games.
It's challenging and it works well, the mechanics are simple but there a lot of weapons and items. Enemies are cool, but the Bosses are epic. It's definitely a hidden gem. Graphics 9/10 Gameplay 9/10 Performance 10/10 Music 9/10 History 7/10

jogo bom. espero que seja acrecido cartas colecionaveis 9/10
