About

Home to the world's greatest minds, GATE operates a global network of secretive research laboratories, spanning every field of scientific study - and the realms beyond.
As a GATE employee you extend the bounds of human knowledge, and seek to explain the unexplainable - including anomalies and paranormal entities: from gravity-distorting artifacts to supernatural creatures with an unbridled instinct for violence. Safety, security, and secrecy are of the utmost importance… usually.
After a catastrophic containment breach, your workplace has become a cosmic battle zone: anomalous entities are on the loose, enemies from other dimensions are invading via portals, and an arcane military sect - known as The Order - is targeting personnel and entities indiscriminately, aiming to seize artifacts and put an end to the chaos.
Containment procedures have failed and help isn’t on the way. Stranded miles beneath the surface, it’s up to you and your fellow scientists to band together, plan your escape, and make this underground complex your new home - for now.

Abiotic Factor brings a 90’s sci-fi twist and rich character progression to the multiplayer open world survival crafting genre. Up to 6 players can choose their PhDs, build their scientist, gear up, and explore a massive subterranean complex, filled with supernatural artifacts, transdimensional foes, and science experiments gone awry.

Between alien threats hunting their next meal, trigger happy soldiers, and the world’s most advanced robotic security forces attacking personnel working overtime, there’s no shortage of danger. As a scientist, fighting isn’t your forte, so you’ll need to put your PhD to work to outwit your opponents: craft ingenious and outlandish tools, weapons and gear, from simple nets and wooden bats to laser-cannons and elaborate traps - everything your big science brain can muster!

Make yourself at home - you’re here for the long haul. Scavenge resources from vacant offices and empty labs, raid vending machines, and steal company property to build a new base of operations as you explore the facility. When it’s time for a change of scenery, pack up your belongings and move them across the facility using handcarts, forklifts, SUVs, teleporters, and more.

Don your lab coat and earn your PhD: from Phytogenetic Botanist to Defense Analyst and Archotechnic Consultant (and many, many more), each with its own advantages essential to survival. Combine traits and skills, then level up to earn perks and abilities with your fellow scientists to forge a formidable scientific force.

Working at GATE may have been a dream job, but dying here wasn’t part of your five year plan. Explore this massive underground facility as well as many worlds beyond and take full advantage of the most advanced technology unknown to mankind in this interdimensional sci-fi adventure!

good
This game is very fun and has a lot of things you can do. It's not for everyone but if you have a mindset like mine, you'll be hooked.
This game is special. It follows the typical survival-crafting game formula, but the setting and premise are unique enough to make it feel fresh. I'm also a sucker for SCP, Control, and Half-life style stories/worlds, so that was a plus. This game takes a sillier approach than those other titles, which is to its benefit. In terms of gameplay, combat is simple yet very enjoyable, as well as pretty intuitive. Ranged combat takes a second to figure out, but it clicked pretty fast for me. Crafting has not felt tedious, and I appreciate how you can craft so many of the basic components, which saves a lot of time that would be spent looking for items in other games. The minigames are also fun. The game can be a bit jank at times, but it never got to the point that the game was unplayable. The story and progression was also a welcome addition, as it removes the aimlessness that can affect more sandbox-style games. Characters are amusing and memorable, and though they don't serve too much function except as guides, the flavor they brought added to the game's quality. Overall, if you're looking for an engaging survival game to play with friends (which is the way you should play), then I highly recommend this one.
This game is severely underrated. The atmosphere and lore is really cool and the gameplay is fairly realistic. The map is very expansive and interconnected, which is cool to explore and find new areas and shortcuts. The difficulty definitely picks up quickly, but is manageable if you upgrade your arsenal. The crafting system is also unique and pretty interactive. Overall very fun game, especially with friends.
One thing ruined this game for me. Things were going somewhat smoothly, the game has a tendency to push you down when you feel like you're getting a footing, I could overlook most of the shortcoming of the game if they didn't punish me for trying to play the game in a way the developers don't like. Why should anyone bother trying to be invisible when you're just going to throw in an enemy that can see through invisibility? Gotta be some powerful boss right? or a rare enemy? maybe some lore powerful order guy with thermal vision? Maybe I'm not the only one with the trinket to see invisible enemies?? No, it's nothing fun like that. it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mounted gun turret with infinite range, infinite ammo, no windup, no cooldown, no warning, just 15 jarring bullet splatter sounds, your character screaming, and loud heartbeats from the multiple bleed procs you just took because you poked your head into his sightline for one frame. Sure would be nice if you could use SOMETHING to OBSCURE YOUR PERSONAGE and MAKE YOU HARDER TO DETECT BY ENEMIES. But no, the developers don't like that you want to skip past all their bullet sponges and bleeding machines, so they're going to force you to run at a turrets like the beaches of normandy and just somehow survive that plus kill all the other armed dudes who aggro to your opaque slender scientist form and descend on you like rabid faulty-pathfinding wolves. That is if the turret didn't bleed you to death first or god forbid you forgot to take a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nap earlier. You cannot complete a 100% stealth run of this game because you cannot hide from turrets, they will instantly spot you the nanosecond you pass a line-of-sight check and blast you to pieces. The game puts the MSQ in the direct line of sight of these turrets in the lategame CONSTANTLY and gives you little or sometimes NO OPTIONS to circumvent them. This completely ruins the experience for me and made me want to install mods just to bypass the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and see what disappointing ending is awaiting me past all this masochism fetish porn. How is it that the actual enemy version of the mounted turret actually does turret gameplay right by having a telegraphed windup/reload to know when you're about to be cheese-gratered and give you time to flee to safety. Not with turrets. Turrets are the Eye of Sauron. Hop from one piece of cover to the next bandaging bullet hole after bullet hole so you can reach the encampment without dying so you can finally clear them out. what? Oh yeah, they respawn too. There is no getting rid of the turrets. They will always come back. You should definitely give this game a try, grab some friends and get have some wacky hijinks with the early game toys. But, don't push past the Hydroplant, it's just not worth it. Don't torment yourself unless it gets you off.
An amazing game to play with friends, great story, great progression, very much recommend
peak
One of the best games I have ever played! I never played a game where from beginning to end I was always discovering new things. I was overwhelmed at first, but once I just kept playing I fell in love with this game and literally poured in 180 hours. I highly recommend this game for people who love a good Sci-Fi story, who loves exploration and the exploration is actually very rewarding and who love a game with so much depth. This was a masterpiece in my eyes.
