horid game thought i would try it out because it just came out the the 3ds but the game is hard to figure out no toutial u cant do simple withsi with track like u can only make a split rail to the left but not the right wtf also there is no free play mode where u can start from scratch was hoping it would be fun but just wasent and a waste of 20 bucks
It wasn't so bad. I liked how the game had a Japanese feel to it. I'm tired of seeing cities that so resembles the US when building.
There are a lot of things to worry about, but it is recommended for low-spec PCs...I wonder. A9 is heavy...feel like A7 in 3D. Therefore it is easy to understand. However, there is no shadow, and no matter how hard I try to take a screenshot, the photos don't look good. But I think A-train is interesting. You can use the car window mode that is not possible with the A7, and you can also view the city from various angles.
Impossible d'accrocher.
IF you like civil simulators, that focus more on the accounting and planning side of things, this is the way to go. not as involved as Sim City or the Civilization series, but also no where near annoying with bugs that are impossible to work with (like Sim City's megatower glitch). There's strategy involved like the others, but if you plan smart, your city grows and revenue increases. Just like any decent game should work
2026 REVIEW: With "A-Train 8" being released in 2008, the question is does it work in 2026? Similar to another popular train simulator released in 2009 and still popular today (Train Simulator Classic), ARTDINK's popular city building management simulation game continues to go strong since it's released back in 1985. "A-Train 8" is a solid game (granted, it took awhile to get there due to timetable problems when it was originally launched). Definitely doesn't have the same love that ARTDINK has given to "A-Train 9" but you really don't have to worry to much because this game is built upon many years of "A-Train" development. In the case of "A-Train 8", it's actually based on the 2006 XBOX 360 "A-Train HX", in which that game is a 3D version based on "A-train 7". So, yes it is a PC port of an XBOX 360 Japanese game but with all 150 trains included (HX required purchasing trains from XBOX LIVE back then). But because this is an international version, there is a caveat. That caveat is that Japanese licensed trains can not be included in international releases. It's unfortunate, but it is what it is. This version sold on STEAM does not include the Japanese language support but it supports up to five languages. But in 2026, "A-Train 8", while released in 2008, has been updated to incorporate full screen, higher resolution monitors. Which I was very pleased to see! With ARTDINK releasing "A-Train 9: Evolution" this summer, a lot of the A-Train games are going on sale (thank you Fanatical!) especially with A-Train 8 for under $5 US. So, many people who wanted to do a litmus test of whether or not they will like the game, may pick up "A-Train 8" since it's so cheap but knowing full well, this is an older game. With that being said, the majority of the western public are not even aware of A-Train unless you are into Japanese culture, Japanese rail and have passion for management-based games and railway simulator games. Of course, there are other games that have come out from companies from "Train Valley" and "Railway Empire" to even "Cities: Skylines" but for those who are passionate about A-Train, it's typically those who love the densha! And the good news is that with ARTDINK bringing these games over to STEAM in English, it gives everyone the opportunity to play these games. So, let me say this first. No one plays A-Train for the best graphics. You are playing "A-Train" for one of the most well-developed city building management simulation games that has decades of research. While we do expect graphics to get better with each release, these games are for those who like to think. Those who like to challenge themselves and plan. I look at A-Train 8 and other similar games as intellectual games that is not going to handhold you. In fact, you are getting into this game with no documentation or tutorials. So, many people may drop it because they feel it's too difficult. Looks that way, but really give it some time, watch a few videos online and you'll get it. In Japan, they have strategy guides for this. But fortunately, we have YouTube :) WILL IT WORK IN 2026: YES, In fact, when you hit "play" you will be asked to go play the game or go into the settings. Go into the settings, select the resolution and yes, it does utilize resolutions over 2560x1440x32. And allows for full screen mode. You can set Draw Quality to normal or high. Textures to low and normal. Sure, it was originally made to work on Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista, but I am running it on Windows 11 25H2. So, no problems in 2026! It detected by NVIDIA GeForce RTX with no problem. So, yes....this game will work in 2026! But just remember, older game means 32-bit not 64-bit. But that's OK, as long as it works on modern monitors and you can play the game. TIPS TO BEGINNERS: There is no right and wrong way to play the game. You can play it like you like and develop how you like. But just a few key things to know: 1. Look at your starting map, look at your regions first and see if they have railways, roads, an easy way they can get from the boonies to the city area. If not, build tracks and stations. Plan in advance! 2. But what about money? Invest in stocks of a company. Invest low, sell at high. Be a billionaire! But just remember, the game is about being financially successful and that means do not put yourself in debt. You will need to spend money to make money. But don't spend it all! Property taxes are high, so invest on what you can afford. Always check your balance sheet and management information. 3. If you are familiar with "CITIES: SKYLINES" or not, you start off with that calendar and clock. Everytime you are planning and creating, click on that to pause. When you are ready to advance, click it again to start the timer. 4. SAVE OFTEN, HAVE MULTIPLE SAVES! You will mess up. So, prepare in advance! Save often and multiple files. 5. They purposely put buildings that are bleeding money. Buildings that obstruct railways. Be prepared to construct and remove stations, tracks, buildings, etc. 6. Freight trains are your friends. The more cars the better. Otherwise, if there are no train cars attached, sell it. 7. Train Schedules - Like in real life. But where neighborhoods are, adjust the train schedule to depart from 8 am, those in the city, depart at 9:30 pm at night. = do not set at 10 pm). So, good to have three trains on one track and another track for freight. 8. Buildings or houses - Do not worry, as long as trains are running, these will build on its own. 9. Train tracks - Concentrate on getting those tracks layed to the ground at the start. Again, look at where your neighborhoods are, cities are and build accordingly. 10. Factory materials cannot be used until they are transported to a storage area. 11. Ports are profitable, leave it alone and focus on trains and freight. JUDGMENT CALL: "A-Train 8" is completely playable in 2026. There are no instructions but it is a logical game. Live in the neighborhood - How to get to work in the big city? Work in the city - How to get back home? That means trains and adjusting train schedules to working schedules. [Note: Japan time - So, instead of 8am to 5 pm, think of it another way like having trains following a schedule like this: 20:30→7:10, 21:30→8:00, and 22:30→8:50 / Of course, in Japan, you have trains running and coming every several minutes on the same track but since you are watching your money, think logically but also be smart of investments and making sure you don't get yourself in debt. Overall, because it's so cheap at $5 and even those with potato computers can enjoy it. Again, those playing new modern games with the best graphics shouldn't expect too much. Even in 2026, people are still playing classics such as "Bokukan - I am an Air Traffic Controller", "Train Simulator Classic" and "OMSI 2" because of community support. I look at "A-Train 8" as a 2008 complete game for people who do not want to spend that much money (again $5US from Fanatical when on sale), play on a computer that doesn't have the best specs), those who love management games from economy to city-building. Sure, there have been many A-Train games released since then but just know in 2026, this game will run, has English and few other language options and doesn't take much disk space and worth purchasing today. So, if you really want to try "A-Train" but yet are not sure if you want that much on the other games that were released between 2013-2026), then "A-Train 9" is worth checking out and seeing if you do like it or not. And if so, you'll consider purchasing the upcoming 2026 release of "A-Train 9: Evolution".
