Weihnachten in ner Berghütte... Bravo! So viel steht fest. Schade eigentlich. Wer wirklich knobeln will, greift zu was anderem. Schmökern for free: Also stell Dir nen Tee bereit und viel Spaß beim Lesen...
Frankie goes to his girlfriend Betty's parents' house in the mountains. The holiday is approaching and he would like to make preparations to welcome his beloved in the best possible way. But unfortunately his life is not so carefree, for a year he has been living with dark shadows, loneliness and sadness lead him to desperate choices. This is not a happy, light-hearted game about Christmas, but a profound reflection on depression and what it can feel like to live with it every day. It's a classic graphic adventure based on different objects to collect and use, there's a Hot spot to understand which objects to interact with; the puzzles are logical and sometimes strange because Frankie is a bit clumsy and tries to make do in his desire to make preparations. The graphics are captivating and hand-drawn, the music creates suspense, anticipation and mystery in the plot. ATTENTION if while you play you don't see the achievements unlocked it's not a bug, but simply go to the Menu, open the objectives menu and click on the numbers, they are little doors to open and you will have freed your well-deserved achievement. Interesting as a "point and click" adventure, easy to play, it would have been more engaging if they had delved into the story a little more, a little more explanation was very welcome. Last Christmas is a short point-and-click adventure with inventory-based puzzles. You guide Frankie, a young man who is anxiously awaiting his girlfriend’s arrival at Christmas. You have a clearly defined task list to make everything perfect for her visit. However, you must complete these tasks with the many odd items that you find in the house. Luckily, Frankie’s ability to carry items is unlimited! This requires a bit of try-this-try-that, using and combining items in your inventory to meet your needs. The game is played entirely with the mouse and controllers are not supported. Inventory is accessed by moving your cursor to the top of the screen and then dragging and dropping items, as needed. There are voice-overs, with some clever moments in Frankie’s self-talk as he explores the house. This is accompanied by a rhythmical soundtrack and loud footfall as Frankie walks around. You are given multiple save slots, and you must remember to manually save on exit. To restart the game, you load from one of your save files. With a few exceptions, achievements are straight-forward. A glance at the icons on the Steam achievement list should point you in the right direction. There are a couple that are dependent on doing things in a specific order and some require multiple encounters with an object. Steam achievements are not automatically awarded. Instead, you access the Achievement screen within the game’s main menu and click on those earned to ‘push’ them to Steam. Achievements are retained when you begin a new game. Last Christmas has a ‘horror’ tag attached and I’m not sure I agree with this. The ending is certainly dark and disturbing, but ‘horror’ is not a word I would use to describe the experience. If you are a fan of the horror genre, this may not be the best choice for you. During Frankie’s preparations, there are four visions that occur. There are four related endings with (very slight) differences. These can be experienced by saving your game before completing your final task and then reloading to make a different choice at the end. Last Christmas is an old-style adventure that is well put together but very short. You are not likely to spend more than an hour going through the entire game. If you circle back for achievements, the second play-through takes even less time. I would recommend this game to those who like to point and click, and enjoy inventory management. As a side note, the development team is currently working on a prequel (First Christmas). Short point-and-click adventure game that fits both Christmas and Halloween. The plot revolves around a guy who needs to transform an old cottage into a romantic retreat for his girlfriend. He has a to-do list that includes preparing a bubble bath, some food, and setting up a Christmas tree. However, something is trying to scare him. Whenever he finishes a task on a list, he has a vision in which he dies. Interactions are performed with a mouse, which incorporates modern mechanics. This means that instead of picking actions from a list, a left-click on a hotspot triggers the right action. Typically, this involves using and picking up. The right mouse button is used for examination. The hotspot reveal function is available. This mechanic is rather polarizing among lovers of classic point-and-click adventure games because it removes the excitement of discovering something on your own, but it makes the game more accessible and the gameplay faster. Collected items are found in your inventory. Because the house is completely open and allows you to solve problems in any sequence, it can be a little overwhelming because you can load the inventory with a lot of items. To use an item, click on it and then combine it with a hotspot or another object. The whole thing takes around one hour. There are no hints, but solutions make sense and aren’t that tricky. The game takes quite a drastic turn, but there’s already a sequel announced to continue after the cliffhanger ending. Achievements are a bit unusual. A star in the corner indicates that you have found one, but no other message or Steam notice is displayed. To finally get an achievement, you have to visit the in-game achievements menu and click on the calendar number. If you do this after finishing the game, you might find unlock all of them with the same timestamp.
A nice little game, particularly for the price! Not as straightforward as it might look, I actually got stuck on a couple of puzzles. Definitely not "cute" or "light", though, and pretty unsettling throughout.
I don't know. It's not good but not bad either. The controls are meh, the story is ok. I would be neutral 5/10
it was fun playing the game. didn't expect quite the plot twist so i enjoyed it. I'm waiting for the next game and if you don't have much time and just wanna play a nice game, this is for you!
Short but really good ride through 'my' preparations for a perfect Christmas. 'My' - we play the guy, who arrives at the house and wants to do everything for a perfect Christmas with his girlfriend, who he has not been with for some time, as it looks. We manage .... well, the outcome is not quite .. or is it? I love the story, the unexpected .. highly recommended! Don't miss it.
Last Christmas is a short point-and-click that follows Frankie as he prepares his family cabin for a visit from his girlfriend, Betty. Players must decorate the tree, set the table, and put out candles amongst a variety of other tasks involving mostly inventory-based puzzles. At certain milestones, the scenes briefly and abruptly changes to macabre black-and-white images that are the only precursor to the game’s sudden and very dark ending. The narrative does not progress logically to its conclusion and the overall effect is an unearned, gratuitous, and wholly unsatisfying finale that seems to render the preceding gameplay a bit pointless. The game uses an uncomplicated cartoon art style with a slightly muted colour palette and bold lines. The music is simple with minimal variation but fits each scene well. The voice acting is a bit underwhelming and the excessive narration can get a little grating. Every action is explained or commented on and the repetition of some lines makes it feel a bit stilted and unnatural. While Last Christmas does provide some fun puzzle-based gameplay, the experience as a whole is disjointed and the ending is unsatisfying and a little confusing due to the lack of build-up and the overall disconnect between the gameplay and narrative, particularly the conclusion. The game is short, at about 30-40 minutes long and does not justify its price tag. I would not recommend this game as there are better value, more gratifying examples of this genre available.
