Warning: Asset Flip!
Beyond The Evil is a Unity Asset flip, what Valve calls a "fake game". The "developer", BlackHawk Games, took the Horror FPS Kit Unity Store game assets from the real developers, ThunderWire Studio, changed the name, and dumped the result onto Steam. They're attempting to scam people into buying this, so they can get your money for someone else's work. It gets worse... "Horror FPS Kit" has also been shamelessly dumped on Steam by other asset flippers apart from BlackHawk Games:

"VERGE:Lost chapter", asset flipped by GDNomaD
"A letter to you!", asset flipped by Savage Howl Studio
"INDICTED", asset flipped by 616 GAMES
"Horror Manor", asset flipped by Spilled Coffee Games/Downmeadowstreet
"Apartament 1406: Horror", asset flipped by Airem
Take a look for yourself... these are all exactly the same assets! Because this is an almost exact 1:1 copy + paste of the original Unity asset, it's in violation of the Unity Asset Store Terms of Service and EULA. Specifically, Section 2, Subsection 2.2.1a:
Subject to the restrictions set forth in this EULA, Licensor hereby grants to the END-USER a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide, and perpetual license to the Asset solely:(a) to incorporate the Asset, together with substantial, original content not obtained through the Unity Asset Store, into an electronic application or digital media that has a purpose, features, and functions beyond the display, performance, distribution, or use of Assets ("Licensed Product") as an embedded component of that Licensed Product, such that the Asset does not comprise a substantial portion of the Licensed Product
Because the developer misused the asset pack such that it comprises the vast majority of this "game", the developer has unethically and deliberately breached the license agreement. Worse, this intellectual property violation was done in an attempt to profit from their illicit actions. Why is this permitted on Steam? The products that result from asset flips aren't "real" games. They lack depth and content, because they're just simplistic copies of demos or tutorials. In this case, "Horror FPS Kit" is just an asset pack and game engine intended to teach people how to make horror/FPS adventure games, and doesn't have any merit as a proper, fully fledged PC game, so this copy+paste of it can't be recommended. Asset flips don't involve any professional game development. Sure, sometimes they may change a few cosmetic things, swap out different assets etc, but at heart it's functionally identical to the asset they're ripping off. Asset flips like this are harmful to the gaming industry and to Steam because they reduce the visibility that sincerely made indie games should have, and make it harder for gamers to find real games from genuine developers. Don't reward this morally bankrupt, unethical behaviour from BlackHawk Games.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.

Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developer breach of guidelines here is an alarming admission of IP license infringement (which in the USA can carry fines of up to $250,000 and up to 5 years in prison). The developer admits they stole a bunch of assets from the Unity Asset Store and used them in such a way that it breaches the agreement identified above... using intellectual property in a way they are not permitted to breaches the copyright for the assets they stole. The developer quotes a number of (severely) overrated games which did not use stolen assets in such a way that they comprised the majority of those games further invalidating the developers claims, and incriminating themselves. The developers claim they modified the assets is both false and irrelevant. It's still the same stolen assets! All of that aside you can see the disgusting attitude here.. this guy is running a scam, a deliberate attempt to get YOUR money for assets he stole from someone else. This is utterly unacceptable. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this asset flip and IP theft to anyone.
B.t.E. is a walking horror sim, complete with the walking horror sim tropes. To be honest, I didn't understand much of how the history unfolds and why does the character decides to investigate what he does, but I guess that doesn't matter much. Gameplay wise you search for keys, basically everywhere and in everything... Graphics wise I noticed some heavy FPS drops and controller bugs, mainly when you have to press to open a door or interact with a switch, the game freezes until you press either START or Inventory. I couldn't recommend it due to how badly optimised it is, but certainly it will look and play better after a few patches. Gostei bastante. Opinião final : Eu gostei bastante do jogo, acho que vale a pena conhecer.
Beyond The Evil is no triple A game, it is a simple puzzle game that is interesting. While I am only on the first chapter and stuck, I'm still think it is worth the time and effort. Yes the game has some funny comments, and voice overs. Not to mention the vocabulary choices, but that still does not mean it is terrible. In-fact the game has decent graphics, sounds, and runs well over all. Which is more then most can say, with all of the crap being sold these days. My only grip with this game is I expected more fright due to the title itself. But over all I think this isn't a bad puzzle novel styled game. Enjoy Blockhead APPROVED!!!
Price is very reasonable for the experience. I had fun with this game and enjoyed the puzzles. Perhaps, it could use a more variety of puzzle rather than finding keys and opening doors and boxes with a code, but this looks like a first project, so it gets a pass. Not any jump scares, but I enjoyed the mood change in atmosphere from daytime to night. Who doesn't like beautiful, sunny woods? In just the same way, spooky woods as well :) The developer is very responsive and polite. I can tell that they care about the project they put out. This is reassuring for a first release. I hope they continue on with more games!
Beyond the Evil is a captivating exploration game, masterfully layered with psychological elements. Set against a backdrop of impending global doom, the player embarks on an immersive quest to unravel the mystery of a supposed plague. Far from your usual horror game, it offers an enriching journey through meticulously crafted environments, where every detail feeds into the larger narrative. The game excels in creating a tense, eerie ambiance that complements the intellectual challenge of its world. It's an intriguing fusion of exploration and suspense that leaves you on the edge of your seat. Beyond the Evil is a testament to the power of interactive storytelling, making it an unforgettable experience in the realm of exploration games
Pra quem ama jogos nesse estilo, é um prato cheio, porém o jogo é curto.
DISREGARD the negative reviews....they are not accurate and all of the negative reviewers spent less than 2.6 hours playing this game. I just started Chapter 4 out of 5 Chapters total and have been playing for 3.5 hours. Because one does not like the game is not reason to NOT Recommend...so tired of people in this category. Not recommending a game is based on other factors not one's personal likes/dislikes! Steam needs to change their review format. THIS is a fun game with a good story and good puzzles.....and the graphics and game play are well done. I have not encountered any issues nor any bugs or drop in FPS. It is a horror game and you are on a case trying to determine what happened. The story is intriguing with a bunch of secrets revealed as you progress. Well worth 12.99. If U like suspense and mystery you will like playing this game.
