The game is very-very short, and not very good. In fact, it's quite bad... It's missing the only thing that would be important in a story like this: mystery. The clues are so obvious and spoonfed, anyone can guest who did what and why. The entire plot is later explained again by a character sucking any sort of intrigue out of the vaguely interesting premise. Player choice is also something that's missing. Unfortunately, the writing is pretty bad too. Information repeats often, the text feels nothing like how actual people speak, let alone how people in the Middle Ages spoke. The questions are copy pasted too, lacking any kind of personal touch or authenticity. There are also technical issues, such as character names appearing wrong, no skip convo button, musing looping noticably and overly long transitions. The art is nice, but since there are so few scenes, I think some animation would have made stuff more interesting. Frankly, too much is missing, ultimately, can't recommend.
I'm sorry but....no. Visual novel indeed. Not enough to keep me going. 10 minutes and "exit game".
not what i thought the game was but its alright if you like to run around and talk to different people, game characters that is. So if you like that kind of game this is your game
In the town of Salem, you could always expect something to happen, but the most common incidents to ever occur, spoken about amongst townsfolk that will get them rattled all up is the art of witchcraft. The sickness has plagued the town for a long while so it is entirely up to you to uncover the truth behind it all but can you possibly narrow it down to one or many possibilities that will leave you with no option but to give up. This visual novel is very surprising as the background depicts the late 17th Century and is crafted and suits the game nicely. To also add, the game is fairly straightforward giving you the option to save at critical or vital points throughout the entire game so that you get an understanding of the different and eventual endings that take place although once completed, on the other, expect little or no less of the same ending backdrops, although not entirely yet certainly each one fits the description for each. No faults, visually great, characters have been crafted very well, menu is simple, and overall, it is marvellous, though I would have expected more than 2 hours hunting witches through the graveyard and deep forest. I would gladly recommend this visual novel as it had me fully glued to the screen. Boo! More yes, than no. But only for visual novel fans. 5.8/10 The game has great art, very beautiful. Story interesting enough to not to turn off the game (and well, it's only 1.5-2 hours), but the text itself not very strong (sadly), so use your imagination. The game has several endings, don't be fooled and find the true one. Despite the cons, I hope to see the next game with Ben Ho's arts in the future with script&text improvements.
A visual novel with no sound, resolution or text speed settings. The Steam overlay didn't work for me either. But even with all those issues I didn’t find the game to be too bad. Without going into spoilers I can say that most of the endings are pretty similar but the actual true ending was definitely not what I expected it to be.
Pretty good quasi-historical visual novel. Whilst the graphics aren't the best, they do actually fit well with the tone and era of the story. Aside from a few continuity errors (mainly once you get to the market place), it's not bad at all.
The art is beautiful; the rest can be summed up as: zzzzzzz Also, the artwork is period appropriate and, again, it is beautifully rendered yet the dialect/speech is not.
