Thank you to the devs for giving me a free key to this game ! Good points : - Good visuals - Nice jumpscares ( I really like the nod to horror movies ) Bad points : - Can't finish the game (bug that does not let me do the ritual which is the last thing to do to finish the game) - Very short (about 1h30) - Too expensive (nearly 6 euros) - Bugs with the camera in game - Letters/notes not in frame and moving when trying to read Conclusion : You can tell that at the beginning of the game, the devs were passionate ! Great suspense, beautiful jumpscares, narration, story telling ... ! But as the game goes on, there are less and less jumpscares, the atmosphere is less and less suspenseful and getting at the end of the game, there is a major bug that stops you from finishing the game (after trying to verifiy files, starting from an earlier save point, ...). You can tell that the devs had lost interest or didn't have the time to finish it properly. Considering that this game has been out for a year and there was a major update in april, I feel like there is not much of an excuse to have suce a problematic bug =S For me, this game is a 3/10 and I hope that in shadow mansion 2, the passion stays from beginning to end !
Для Разовой истории очень даже - 30-60 минут и всё =)
It's a really cool developer debut! You can already see the potential that is explored further in Malevolent Madness. What I really like about the game is that the developers don't take themselves too seriously. It's not meant to be an ultra dark, ultra serious, ultra deep experience, It's just fun and it's scary nonetheless.
I do not recommend this game at this current state. On boot, my cpu went immediately to 100%, making my pc unusable until I had to turn every setting to medium/low (and I can run demanding AAA games at high settings with no problem). The mouse sensitivity is also too high even at the lowest setting, you can't go lower. The jumpscares are too cheap, there are some commendable ones that catch you off-guard, but most of them gets old real quick. The story has a lot of plot holes, it gets very confusing to the point that I stopped paying attention to it in the middle of the game. Most of the objects are also too big, making the character seem small in comparison, and I feel like most of the objects textures are just copy pasted and took no effort at all. I could go on and on about all the negatives in this game, but for now, I don't recommend playing this game at all, or buying this at full price, or even buying this at all. It seems like the dev just wants quick money for 0 effort.
This game is just bad. It felt like a school project. POORLY optimized. The map is HUGE. With so many unnecessary rooms. Jumpscares are so random and out of place. Now that I think about it, I can't think of one pro when I played this game. I gave it a fair shot too. Stay away from this game.
I received this game for free from lurkit.gg The game was interesting. There were things I liked about it, and there were things about the game that were not so great. Pros: - Jump scares were well-placed. Very good scares, I wasn't able to "predict" where they'd pop up at. - Very good atmosphere. I was on edge the entire time, ambiance was peak. Cons: - The game is riddled with bugs. Multiple times I was softlocked on stair cases. Keybindings cannot be set, and there's no way to open your inventory, which is needed to finish the game. The game is literally unbeatable. - Poorly optimized. Multple times my game locked up because the game was clearly loading in too much at once. I understand they're a small indie dev, but if they learn from the feedback people are providing, they have potential to be a great horror dev. They know atmosphere, that much is clear, but if they could fix their issues with the myriad bugs the game has, they could be so much more. This game was fun for what it was, but the literal inability to beat the game detracts so much from it.
Il gioco presenta molti jumscare improvvisi e l'ambientazione è interessante.
SHADOW MANSION is a compact, atmosphere-first horror experience that leans into slow-burn tension and environmental storytelling rather than spectacle or combat. Developed and published by NEBULA NOVA GAMES, the title places the player in an abandoned family estate whose oppressive silence and decaying grandeur immediately establish a sense of unease. The premise is straightforward—a summons back to a long-forgotten mansion after a mysterious message—but the execution is intentionally restrained, allowing dread to accumulate through careful pacing, sound design, and the constant suggestion that the house itself is watching. The game’s strength lies in how it cultivates fear through anticipation. Progression is deliberate and methodical, encouraging players to move cautiously, listen closely, and absorb the subtle cues embedded in the environment. Creaking floorboards, distant knocks, flickering lights, and abrupt silences do much of the narrative work, often more effectively than overt scares. Rather than pushing players forward with action, SHADOW MANSION asks them to linger in discomfort, making each opened door or dimly lit hallway feel like a risk. This approach won’t satisfy players seeking frequent jump scares, but it rewards those who appreciate psychological tension built over time. Exploration forms the backbone of the experience, with the mansion unfolding room by room through keys, switches, fuses, and ritual objects that gate progress. The puzzles are intentionally light, favoring observation and memory over complex logic, which keeps the flow steady and accessible. Notes, recordings, and visual details gradually sketch a family history steeped in tragedy and occult obsession, allowing the player to piece together the narrative at their own pace. While some objectives can feel familiar—find the clue, unlock the door they reference—the context and atmosphere elevate these moments, making discovery feel meaningful rather than mechanical. Survival elements are present, but combat is conspicuously absent. When hostile presences manifest, avoidance and stealth become the only viable responses. This vulnerability is central to the game’s identity; you are never empowered to fight back, only to hide, retreat, or outwit danger through patience and awareness. The result is a persistent sense of fragility that heightens immersion, as even simple traversal can become nerve-wracking when something unseen is nearby. These encounters are used sparingly, which helps preserve their impact and prevents the tension from flattening into routine. Visually, SHADOW MANSION opts for moody realism over elaborate effects. Interiors are detailed enough to feel lived-in yet decayed, with lighting doing much of the heavy lifting to define mood and guide attention. The flashlight is both a practical tool and a psychological crutch, offering reassurance while simultaneously emphasizing how much remains hidden. Sound design complements the visuals effectively, with ambient audio and subtle musical cues reinforcing the mansion’s oppressive atmosphere. While the presentation reflects indie-scale production values, the cohesion between audio and visuals does a great deal to sell the experience. The game’s brevity—typically a single-session playthrough—works in its favor. The narrative remains focused, the tension rarely dissipates, and the experience doesn’t overstay its welcome. Some players may wish for greater mechanical variety or deeper puzzle complexity, but the concise runtime ensures the atmosphere remains potent throughout. Post-launch updates have improved stability and usability, smoothing rough edges and allowing the core design to shine more clearly. Ultimately, SHADOW MANSION succeeds as a moody, exploration-driven horror vignette that understands its limitations and plays to its strengths. It offers a quiet, unsettling journey defined by atmosphere, vulnerability, and environmental storytelling rather than action or shock value. For players who enjoy intimate horror experiences that prioritize tension and discovery over combat and spectacle, it delivers a focused and memorable descent into a haunted legacy. Rating: 6/10
